Older game music in general is fantastic. 80s and 90s game music all seemed prog ish, and easily adapts to being covered in many genres, and sounds great as a metal cover.

@@bjb2309 Japanese composers in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s tend to be heavy into rock and metal. Megaman's sound track was intentionally rock-based (he's called Rockman in japanese for this reason), Uematsu's music is metal heavy, especially ff6 and later, and castlevania is just so obvious. Lately the move has been more towards orchestrated stuff due to (at least i think this is why) Dragon Quest having been so popular and aging so well orchestrated. Some notable exceptions: Sonic 3 (pop, obviously because Michael Jackson was the composer), Dragon Quest (pop and orchestra), Castlevania (not just metal, but they liked Disco and "classical western piano"), and whomever did chronocross straight up rickrolled everyone before it was cool.

I've listened to so many covers and remixes of this theme over the years and very few of them are able to capture the spirit of the original the way you have here. That groovy twang to the main melody is so essential to the feel. This is beyond excellent. Just absolutely incredible work man

Whether this song or other songs, it's usually the base lines i hear people loose the feel on. There's a few songs that are easy to identify when people loose it: Battle on on the Bridge (FF5), Mute City, and this song. You did this one justice.

It's the base. It's always the base that gets neglected in covers of songs like this. Good luck finding a good cover of battle on the big bridge from ff5: even the original composer let them kill the feel by taking out the base. Mute City's another one that's hard to get right. For some reason, our brains always focus on "the soprano part" and *MAYBE* "the alto part" but anything lower pitch than that we have trouble noticing... that is until it's missing.

This is cool! I liked it very much. I remember listening to your covers not so long ago, and I also wanted to make music. It wasn't easy, given that I don't have any musical instruments, and I've never played anything, but I was able to play my first Sonic the Hedgehog tune, "Green Hill Zone".
