Sonic 3 And Knuckles - Mushroom Hill Zone Giant Ring Locations

Hello there! We all know that Sonic Origins has a plethora of bugs, but the physics in S3&K in Origins is also not the same as it is in the OG games and various ROM hacks/mods. This is particularly noticeable for the path you have to take now in Origins to get to the 5th special stage in Mushroom Hill. You cannot take the spring that is used in this video, you have to go a bit further down the path and then climb up. Perhaps there's a physics mod for PC ports of the game that fixes this, but that would only be for a portion of the playerbase. Happy hunting! EDIT: Looks like you can reach the 5th ring now with that spring at the beginning of act 2.

@@MarkoDinicDinke Yeah, I was confused on that part at first, but I looked a little closer and saw that I was just on the platform under the giant ring up there. (The platform under the 5th giant ring, which has 2 item monitors) So I just used Tails to fly up to the ring.

7:00 Years ago I found that secret by accident but I don’t know how to do it again. Seeing it now makes me think that you need to do the pulley till you can’t no more then use the spring to get to the area, I’m not sure if I’m correct or not.

Correct, you have to get the pully all the way to the top and then you can reach that secret area.

I had to get my emeralds the old fashioned way with sonic and knuckles, by just finding as many ring zones as possible. I can get super on marble garden, hydro city the earliest. Now ima get my 2nd forms with this video. Currently on my Amy run (sonic origins) and just got all the super emeralds. Next is tails, and then I'm done. Will be using this video again. There was a discussion about that a few weeks ago. Basically, the physics are not the same as in the OG games, so that spring doesn't send you far enough anymore. You have to go a bit further before you can climb up there.

Yeah with the emulator just load up the state that you saved before you started the special stage. :D Kind of like cheating but then again, the stages aren't that tough, the special stages in Sonic 2 were more difficult. :)

There's a ROM hack of this game which improves the controls a bit, gives you more options, so you can just hold up and jump to make Tails do that, but if you only have the original version, you will have to use a 2nd controller or assign the keybinds for the 2nd player and then just get tails in position, jump with the 2nd player's controls and then jump with Sonic to grab on to Tails.

If you’ve beaten the game, and are going back for the emeralds, do you have to beat the level if you collect an emerald in it, in order for it to save? Or if you collect an emerald, can you reset the game and try for the next one? Playing the original cartridges and am curious. Thanks!

I have no idea last time I played this on cartriges was back in the 90s on the Genesis. :'D Can always start a new game, exit the stage/game after getting the first one to test it out. I'd reckon it's the same, no matter which system you play it on.

In this case, using a second set of controls, but there's a ROM of the game called Sonic 3 Complete which gives you the option of activating him like in Sonic Mania (though they took that from that ROM in actuality) by holding up while standing still and pressing the jump button. Flight controls in there are kind of better as well when it comes to jumping off. :)

@@amosostos4841 Perhaps your GPU settings are forcing a 1/2 v-sync. I don't see any of that in the emulator settings. Also, in the video options, just turn off "Fixed aspect" and it will stretch out to full screen.

Depends on the version of the game you're playing, sometimes you have to use player 2 controls to control Tails, sometimes it's just holding up and jumping.

I really don't like the placement. Perhaps I am biased, but most Rings in the first half can be found by actually playing good and looking up. Testing walls along the way. It is hard for me to find them in the &Knuckles part, but I kinda can see why. You need to actually play... poorly. Tracking back. Testing gaps and crevices. It reminds me of that infamous Sonic CD generator you access via letting yourself be crushed by a fake piston. Just bad design...

You need to have both Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles games locked in together or in the same ROM, depending on what you're using. :)
