I just now realized the Hard Boiled Heavies are just different versions of the Robot Eggman who replaces Eggman when you play as Knuckles.

You can fight Egg-robo in Carninval Night zone Act 2 as knuckles, if the player stops after falling through the vertical shaft en route to the exit and climbs up it, then the one above it (see: the route Sonic and Tails take after Knuckles reverses the direction of both), it is possible for them to initiate the battle with the Energy Ship with EggRobo.

From what I read, in Sonic Origins, this is no longer possible.

​​@@IamCanadian3333 It's still possible to reach the boss area and fight Egg Gravitron in Sonic Origins. Just climb the tubes, as would be done in the original (easy).

Differences between Sonic/Tails' version vs. Knuckles' version: Angel Island Zone Act 1: No wonder that the Fire Breath throws out bombs now. Angel Island Zone Act 2: Eggrobo now shoots out more projectiles. Hydrocity Zone Act 2: The Screw Mobile doesn't go down anymore when casting a whirlpool. Marble Garden Zone Act 1: Now, a spiky platform appears at some point so that you can hit the Tunnelbot. Marble Garden Zone Act 2: Instead of the flying Drill Mobile, you now have a Drill Mobile that burrows up and down. Carnival Night Zone Act 2: No boss for Knuckles. Ice Cap Zone Act 2: The platform rises up at some point, unlike the other version. Launch Base Zone Act 1: Two Twin Hammers this time. Launch Base Zone Act 2: No Ball Shooter for Knuckles. Mushroom Hill Zone Act 1: When near the Hei Hou, it throws wood on the floor and making it bounce. Mushroom Hill Zone Act 2: The Jet Mobile goes faster, and at some point there are double spike rows. Flying Battery Zone Act 2: When the Hang Mobile swings for the second time and onwards, it shoots out flames still. Sandopolis Zone Act 2: The arms of the golem move faster now. Lava Reef Zone Act 2: No boss for Knuckles. Sky Sanctuary Zone: 2 bosses only now, the first one is the third Mecha Sonic battle with Sonic or Tails, but the second one is different from the other version and is considered the final boss as Knuckles. In my opinion, Eggrobo is smarter than Eggman. (Or is it just that Sonic and Tails are better than Knuckles?)

In Launch Base 2, Knuckles has Big Arms instead of Ball Shooter (for some reason, Sonic/Tails' campaign has no Big Arms in S3&K but does in S3)

Actually in the original, it is possible for Knuckles to fight the Carnival Night Zone Act 2 boss. He can climb the walls directly through those warp elevators to fight it, and it still uses the Egg Robo as the pilot. However, I believe this is no longer possible in the Origins edition iirc.

Wow this guy did a good job against these bosses, but I've been wondering after watching this, some questions have popped up in my mind- 1) Why does a Egg-robo come instead of Eggman to fight Knuckles almost every time? as if Eggman is hiding himself from him... 2) Why is it only in Flying battery act 2 that Eggman shows up to fight him, but doesn't show up even after that? 3) Knuckles walkthrough seems like a whole different story, so when is it set? After Sonic defeats Eggman in S3&K? Before Sonic beats Eggman in S3&K? Or in some other time? or some parallel universe or alternate reality? EDIT: I read on Sonicretro on this topic and I have all of the answers, I guess but feel free to give your answers since I'm still not fully sure

Late reply but screw it, i'm replying anyway: 2.) The reason why Eggman shows up in Flying Battery Zone's final boss was because they didn't have enough time to make Egg Robo's sprite, so they just said screw it, and used Eggman's sprite and hoped that no one would notice.

Knuckles wasn’t supposed to go to Flying Battery, but when they split the game into 2, if you’d play as Knuckles instead of Sonic in Sonic & Knuckles, the game would seem way too short, so they left Flying Battery in but forgot to make a forward facing Egg Robo for the 2nd fight.

@@romalapin8648 if i'm sure A.I.R probably didn't fix it, I deleted it and I can't check if it's true, but Sonic 3 Complete is basically Sonic 3 but like if the developers put more work and stuff in it, even if I didn't even play Sonic 3 Complete, it's more likely it has that. But probably A.I.R had that fixed, too

The sprite for Eggman used in the Egg Hanger (Hang Mobile) is different than his normal sprite, but they didn't make one for Eggrobo, so they just put Eggman on it, but Sonic Origins fixed it.
