I think that Sonic 3D blast was a warning shot that no one noticed, as it was supposed to release alongside xtreme before getting cancelled and indirectly taking down the whole company with it.

0:58 Actually the game was a commercial success. Selling 700,000 units on the genesis in 1996. Considering the fact the genesis was less than a year away from being discontinued and wasn’t relevant since 1994. 700,000 units really was a lot.

Thanks for correcting me. I don't know that much about this game. I always assumed it was the black sheep of the 16-bit era.

Sonic 3D was the first sonic game I ever failed to get all the chaos emeralds and had to play the final fight by wiggling the cartridge to access level select.

I never owned this game on cartridge, only on the Sonic Mega Collection + for PC. Loved hearing about all the tricks they did with that console, including level select cheat for this game and the lock on technology. I only bet this game once as a kid by constantly loading save states, especially with the final bosses! 😂

Nice way of reviewing 3D Blast , I had just played the Director's Cut version recently ! You should do shorter and ore consise reviews of the games , like summarising your points so that it takes less time !
@infiniteorder902Ай бұрын
I could do that. I usually like to show off most of what these games have to offer and say what comes to mind as I'm playing. But I agree, nearly 2 hr videos are probably a bit long. For now I think I'll keep this style of review/gameplay as we move into later games but I'll probably cut these parts down to about an hour-long.

Also could you explain what the director's Cut is like? I've never heard about that for this game.

Never understood the hate to this game. It was always unique, yet it wasn't a proper 3d sonic game, just an experiment. But overall 3d look was amazing back then. Always was mesmerized by renders of frozen dinosaur skeletons on diamond dust zone, or burned lifeless atmosphere of volcano valley. I'm talking about mega drive version, ofc, Saturn lacks a lot of mood because of the Jacques music - people love this ost, yet for me Tawada's and Senoue's music felt like best on mega drive library of sonic music.

I agree while I like some things in Saturn it doesn't compare to this (16-bit version). Now that I've played this game again I have more of an appreciation and respect for what the developer's were going for. :-)
