Sonic Adventure 2 Battle: Hero Story - Boss Dr. Eggman (27)

Walkthrough of Hero Story part 27. Cutscene before with the actual fight with the boss Dr. Eggman. Sonic made it to where Tails, Amy and Dr. Eggman are. As Sonic is about to hand over the Chaos Emerald, he is tricked and gets trapped inside a capsule which is sent out into space. Tails, then takes on Dr. Eggman.

​@@TMX1138 according to the plot, both emeralds have similar energy readings, he just didn't know which emerald was real. he assumed that the one sonic was holding was in fact the fake but he wasn't certain, so he called tails out on a fake emerald, and tails essentially confirmed sonic was holding the fake emerald. the man mind gamed the hell out of tails, which really showcases the 300 IQ the games advertised before this point in time

@@TMX1138 To be fair, it wasn't really hard to call their bluff. Sonic pretty much gave it away with how he was acting about Eggman's demands with his smirk and aloof attitude. Had he used a good poker face and acted with more urgency, I don't think Eggman would have been confident enough to trap Sonic and send him away to his supposed demise with the emerald still in his hand because had he been wrong, he would have sent Sonic away with a real Emerald, thus blowing it up and not being able to fully power up the Eclipse Cannon. Eggman wouldn't have been dumb enough to risk his master plan unless he knew had an ace in the hole. This is just a wild guess, but I think Eggman had a backup plan ready to go to deal with Sonic had he been given the right Emerald. I don't believe that he only planned for the fake emerald tactic because like I said, too much would have been at risk had he been wrong.

I gotta say, I didn't expect Eggman to actually pull off this one. First he made Sonic surrendered the fake chaos emerald by threatening to kill Amy then he tricked Tails into telling him that the emerald was fake. Finally, Dr. Eggman managed to almost kill Sonic by trapping him inside of his chamber and ejecting Sonic into outer space where the chamber exploded. If Sonic really did die back there, then this would have been the most darkest Sonic game ever.

Billy Raymond narratively that fits, but it’s more likely because the English voice lines all use the timing that the Japanese lines did; since English takes a little longer, lines throughout the game run over each other, and in an intense moment like this, we see a lot of characters speaking in very rapid succession

Tails felt that he had to do his part in Sonic's place as he requested, and he had Amy he needed to protect. This is the part where tails starts to mature.

This scene never gets old. It's got it all from Eggman's smarts, to Sonic's cocky attitude, to Tails' naivete. It was also a great scene that could have been used to further Amy's character and make her realize that she puts others in danger by being so weak. Heroes dropped the ball, but thanks to Forces and IDW Comics, they're finally realizing that the childish chasing Sonic shit needs to go.

This is my favorite Tails moment. He fucks up and believes that he got his hero killed, but he mans up and keeps going cause there's shit to do. And in the Dark Story, Eggman beats Tails and takes the last emerald from his unconscious body and puts it in the Eclipse Cannon. In the Hero Story, Tails....drops the emerald or something and while he's mourning for Sonic, Eggman grabs it and puts it in the Eclipse Cannon.

Regardless of the story, the cannon isn't used because Sonic destroys it or the colony crash program prevents its use as all of the emeralds are probably causing the colony crash.

@@mandomortuaryYes, but at this point in the series it makes sense for Eggman to still underestimate Tails to a degree. Tails only had one major win against Eggman without Sonic with him (although to be fair to Tails, he only ever fought Eggman by Sonic’s side before SA 1, so it’s not like Tails was only getting stomped by Eggman or anything), and in that metric, Eggman did not know the true capabilities of a really ticked off Tails. For me, I’d guess the hero side is canon in the case of Eggman vs Tails, because Eggman is MUCH more weary of Tails’ potential in the Egglogs in Sonic Frontiers than he is shown to be in the Adventure games. Had to have come from somewhere.

i mean, yeah, eggman did have him in a glass container, but that really doesn't do anything for him. for all eggman knows (until like 15 seconds later) the emerald Sonic has could be the real one, so he can't shoot him out until he has 100% proof that it is fake. So Sonic is just this calm because he isn't in immediate danger. Or, more likely, awful voice acting.
