Walkthrough of Dark Story part 51. Cutscene before with the actual fight with the boss Egg Golem. Shadow spots Tails and contacts Dr. Eggman. Dr. Eggman tells Shadow to let them be for now. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy are on their way to the space shuttle, only to be stopped by Dr. Eggman who summons Egg Golem. Sonic defeats Egg Golem who starts to attack Dr. Eggman.

i like the fact that in the dark story sonic jumps WAYYY high w/ one kick and the boss is done, but in hero mode it takes WAYY longer to beat the golem XD

This actually begs the question of whether the Egg Golem was entirely built by Eggman or an ancient guardian that he defeated first and then mechanized to put it under his control and use as a guard. Either way would explain the internal robotics that are the weak points in his battle with the golem.

I just think the machine malfunctioned when Sonic kicked it’s top off. Maybe it was some kind of device that allowed him to detect who was a target or not. And since it stopped working, it started going a-wall and attacking anything including eggman.

Pretty sure it was built by Eggman himself; this boss is actually referencing a similar boss from the 2D games.

I looked it up, and it turns out it was created by an ancient civilization. Eggman merely attached that restraining device to it to enslave it. So when Sonic destroyed the mechanism, it was free from its enslavement to Eggman and started attacking him since he was an "Intruder".

I love the performances of the English VOAs, but damn…that kick sounds more epic with the Japanese dub. In fact, after I finished both stories, I replayed the game just to listen to it with the Japanese dub. It does make the story more interesting and tense (not that it wasn’t already).
