Looking back on this, the story of the Echidna Tribe and the Master Emerald reminds me of Atlantis:The Lost Empire and the Heart of Atlantis. Both were semi-sentient giant gems of immense power that were sought after by invaders and their power brought destruction and disaster to the land after their power was abused, although in the case of the Master Emerald Angel Island was "exiled" to the skies and the Echidna tribe died out over due to Chaos (implied to be the curse of the Master Emerald).

Things this game revealed 1.The Master Emerald has a mind of its own 2. The echidna tribe was teleported to another zone or dimension Questions that still have not been answered in 20 years... 1. What exactly is Knuckles connection to the Master Emerald? He's obviously a descendant of the Echidna tribe 2. Why are the chaos emeralds now just scattered across the planet and even sometimes space? 3. Why is the Master emerald ok with not having the chaos emeralds near it anymore, yet still keeps Angle island afloat Hopefully the new Sonic movie will answer these questions

Tikal was entirely in the right for what she did! Pachacamac was honestly a monster (whether he wants to admit it or not) for what he was doing and his daughter trying to intervene like that is completely justifiable. There are definitely means of getting what you want sometimes, but she is totally right! Stealing, killing, and attacking other countries is never the path to survival! If anything, it is the path to death if failed, and, well, he did fail and also die, so this further explains the point that greed, violence and theft are never the answer!

I like to think of this as a guide for what order to play the characters in.

I agree but unfortunately you have to play through Sonic and majority of Tails in order to unlock all of the characters after that it's free range on what you want to play

Best way to play it: 1. Play through Sonic's story until you defeat Chaos 6 (stop playing before entering Lost World). 2. Play through the rest of the stories in the order shown in this video (Tails, then Amy, then Big, then Gamma, then Knuckles). 3. Finish Sonic's story. 4. Play through Super Sonic's story. I think that's the best way because you end Sonic's story after the climax of fighting Chaos 6, then come back to it later to do the "epilogue" of his story.
