Some of this looks really amazing, genuinely. The only changes it needs next, are...: • Tone down the shininess of some materials • Tone down the emissive value of some materials (e.g: the checkpoint poles don't need to glow _that_ much) • Make the skybox textures unaffected by lighting. Because of things like camera exposure and environment lights, it makes the skyboxes look really washed out • See if there are ways to incorporate Normal Maps into the game's materials, like rocks, grass and detailed metal. That way, when light shines on them, they'll actually have details and depth, rather than being ultra flat and smooth

Emerald Coast and Windy Valley for the most part look pretty amazing. Grass and dirt should not look like a shiny smooth plane. It just gives it that "wet" look which works on the docks that are near the water but not when there's no reason for it to be wet like the couple parts in Windy Valley part 3. I don't know how to fix Ice Cap. It's too dark, it's too bright. Just all over the place. I assume the glowing star posts are a personal choice, I don't agree with it but you do you. Twinkle Park man... you gotta tone it back a bit. When everything is glowing so much you can't see shapes anymore that's a bit egregious. Bright colors are fine but you need to find that line where something like a neon sign is still legible. It's a good rough draft. Keep it up.

Alright, I'll bite. This looks amazing, almost like a realization of what the game looks like in my memory from playing it way back in '99 and 2000s. Instant download from me, and I hope it's expanded (Super Sonic at night ought to be a joy if done right). However, I at least have to make the obvious comment that raytracing + low poly graphics kinda looks off. Combining low-poly aesthetics with photorealistic raytracing takes a bit of finesse, and you can certainly pull it off, but here, it definitely makes the polygons and smooth textures much more noticeable and jarring and ultimately has the effect of making a lot of flat surfaces look shiny and plasticky. This isn't a problem that the mod creator can actually fix; it's a fundamental issue with the game itself because this is a 25-year-old game that literally _can't_ render all the wonderful little details like flora and fauna and advanced bump mapping to stop it from looking so flat. Which is a shame because otherwise this looks _amazing_ but it ultimately really highlights why I'd love to see a full-fledged remaster/remake of this game in the Unreal Engine. Heck, if a really dedicated fan really wanted to do a "Sonic P-Adventure" remake in Unreal Engine that recreates the game 1:1 but with modern graphics and effects and modding/level/asset creation potential, I'd actually pay money for that.

The good thing about remix, which is the tool i made this in, is that it can bypass all engine limitations, so normals, bumps, and high-poly models are entirely possible. I do plan on doing the normals at some point, but doing the models would require some more skill on my end, and a team of people

Yeah, that's the big damn problem with this mod and RTX for basically any game from the 90s and very early 2000s: the lighting is _amazing_ (especially in tunnels and dark areas), but ultimately it makes the low-poly aesthetic that much more noticeable and subtracts some of the charm of it as well. Low-poly graphics work best without raytracing, because when you cross ultrarealistic lighting with the surreality of 5th and 6th gen graphics, it crosses into this uncanny valley effect.

Sonic Adventure wasn't made to be realistic although its graphics and level design were impressive at the time, I don't know if it matches RTX that much.

​@@rev1474I understand that adding RTX to such an old game is problematic, but still there is a lot that needs to be configured. The lighting is completely incompatible with the skybox, many objects for some reason shine and have reflections where this is absolutely not needed, you shouldn’t add reflections to almost everything, it doesn’t work that way. And yet, it’s better to add RTX to new games or remakes, and not to shove them into such old games, I’ve seen this more than once and, frankly speaking, the result is not very good, it not only kills the atmosphere, but it also doesn’t fit together. Should I continue?

@@sohnkspeedgame -Not everything is shiny, but shiny things will be toned down in later updates. -The lighting is compatible(?) with the skybox, there is just a strange fog configuration issue I have already solved in testing. - If you don't like the idea of RTX in older games, that's totally fine, but that's not a valid objective reason why it looks bad. - Describe "It doesn't fit together" And again, this is an early version, most of what you are seeing will probably change

​@@Ver11111For example, in the Emerald Coast, the sky is too dark, but the sun is bright, it doesn’t look natural, or for example in Ice Cap, the sun suddenly appears from somewhere inside the ice cave, why??? But okay, if this is just an early version, then good luck, we'll see what happens in the future, it just doesn't look like anything super cool yet.
