Great to see another Neville Grove video after a gap. I see from the comments that I'm not the only one who's missed a regular fix. Superb weathering, camerawork, editing and then the final atmospheric touch with the expertly synced sound... it's just such a pleasure to watch the trains roll by!

The A5 (9N as I call them) was a beautiful loco, how fitting that it should receive such a beautiful high quality model. Sonic Models did a great job for their first ever OO locomotive.

I've been a little slow to find your channel and website Steve - but what a joy they are! You have a fabulous layout and a selection of wonderfully inspiring videos, which I've thoroughly enjoyed wading through over the last couple of days. They are all beautifully and cleverly shot and with superb sound added. I've struggled for a while to come up with a layout design that is both prototypically plausible and that includes mainline open spaces and constricted urban areas - but you've done it with Neville Grove! I was particularly fascinated with your Thompson A2/2 video - that's a Hornby model that I've steered away from - the prototype is a little odd looking and straight out of the box the model seemed plain and didn't inspire me - perhaps partly due to the pale shade of BR green which Hornby have used. However after your weathering those machines are transformed, they look characterful, purposeful and very impressive in your video. I'd now like one! My wallet has gone into hiding! Thanks for displaying your fine work.

More likely a slightly bent con rod, had it on many a model before and is easy enough to fix. Couldn’t notice it with the naked eye, other wise would have looked into it.

I've got one of those LNER black ones with DCC Sound. I've only tried running it once on my Club's dc Children's Layout. It doesn't like dc at all. Needs the CV values tweaking I suspect.

So what were these, tank engine for? Were they used for express services as Pacific or Atlantic tank engines in early era or local passenger and mix traffic locos?

I think originally they were built for fast services but were soon displaced by more powerful locos. There were still very capable though and lasted a long time on secondary and local services.

My second comment is about your rag wipe gloss finish. When you zoom in, its obvious to me that you have sprayed the gloss varnish on. I suspect you are using an acrylic medium which dries that bit too fast too level out to a glass finish.
