I know some of these, the GBA version showing that sonic the hedgehog genesis could have been better. The SNES version showing how sonic 1 could have been on the snes without any of the snes special chips. But I wish there was a SNES version using the capabilities of the snes Mode 7 and SA-1 Chip

Those are all bootlegged, the real sonic the hedgehog game is for Sega Genesis, made by a real professional from Sega.

I’ve played at least 4 of these that I can recall. In the early days of emulation you would come across these from time to time. The ones I played were pretty bad but that PS1 bootleg looks amazing. Also the GBA one looks far better than the official SEGA port.

most people here dont know the meaning of these words so i need to put them here to avoid more problems Homebrew = Software/Program developed to be played/used on a modded console (usually by a small team or 1 person) Bootleg = Something released and sold without license of the original owner(s) bootlegs are (almost) always of shitty quality because they were made by a random company trying to grab cash quickly Homebrews are better looking because the ones shown here were made by people who wanted to port the game to other consoles without thinking on making momey out of it

Btw, "Mi ni Ikuzo! Hedgehog" was made by the same guy who would later develop and work on the Umihara Kawase series.

i played that first sonic 1 on an old romsite when was nine. they were all glitchy, but i played them non the less. then i saw sonic on that list and thought it was legit.

I have played most of the bootleg Game Boy Sonic games on emulator. Sonic 1 on the GBA was a proof of concept to counter the official port, Sonic Genesis. I think it was made by one of the guys who developed Sonic Mania.

Bold of you to expect I never played those, not only did I play them but many of which I had on real hardware as a kid, Sonic 6 on Gameboy in particular is quite good, dare I say high quality for a bootleg with surprisingly good controls and decent level design and lengthy enough content.

My only issue with the sparkster rom hack is the bottom of the shoe, most frames are dark red/black and in some are gray as if it were modern sonic...

Most of them are horrible, sad... The best were the Sonic 1 GBA, the Chibi Version, the Atari 2600 one and the C64 ones. The PS1 couldn't load the boss, as well as the SNES (that was also slow) and the others, with sprite swap... Just trash.
