👾 Sonic & Johnny is a rom hack of Sonic the Hedgehog by Lone Devil where the goal is Racing against your Rival for the first Two Acts while fighting New Bosses along the way. Featuring Johnny from Sonic Rush Adventure and New Zones containing plenty of familiarity.
📖 STORY: After Robotnik's dissatisfaction with his rebellious Metal Sonic, Robotnik and his empire decided to own land, and reclaim all the Chaos Emeralds to mysteriously summon an individual from another dimension who calls himself Johnny. After being sold with Johnny's arrogant skills, Robotnik constructs a deal that would give Johnny the fame and recognition he always wanted by inviting him to his recently funded Atomic Stadium, an small island built for the strongest of racers with a special prize if one of the racers collects all Emeralds.
Sonic gets a report from Knuckles that his Emeralds is missing and later received a letter from Robotnik threatening Sonic to join his 1v1 Grand Prix or else one of his friends will remain kidnapped forever. Sonic calls Tails to fly him to the nearest stadium to join the race to beat Robotnik's latest successor to Metal Sonic and find out what's really going on.

I think it uses a bit of 2 as well. The Sonic Sprite and other sprite styles look similar with a bit of creative design that makes it look like a Genesis version of an Advance style game. The Sonic Team used Sonic The Hedgehog as the game engine for Sonic 2 so the sprites have no problem working with the original's level blocks.

Johnny's from Sonic Rush Adventure if you want to know where this idea came from. Basically, you had to race him on a jet ski to get emeralds if I remember correctly, but I can't remember if it was Sonic's Chaos Emeralds or Blaze's Sol Emeralds.

@PSIHedgehog This hack is pretty cool! I remember Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush adventure. I recently played them on my 3DS for fun. If I remember correctly, racing Johnny is how you get Chaos emeralds and beating bosses in missions and I think some of the hidden islands have the Sol Emeralds. I don't know as it's been a long time.

Are those some unused sprites I see? When Sonic slows and turns, you can see him face the camera a bit. That is an unused sprite! This hack was very unique, reminds me of the Metal Sonic race from CD. The colors for the palates and level design are really nice! I would DEFINITLY want to see more of this, I loved Metal Sonics race, racing in Sonic is really fun. Hope you get better soon!

btw, Sonic 1 Romhacks seem to have made great progress on the changes that are possible. Likewise, Mario 64 Romhacks have been getting more freedom on what's possible to modify. Back in the day, creating completely original bosses in a Mario 64 rom hack wasn't known how to do so. But now, we've seen Mario 64 rom hacks with fully original bosses, and some even have custom voice acting (such as one I believe was called simply as the name "Elise", that has everything Mario-related completely absent, and the only thing it has to do with the Mario franchise, was the rom used as a base to make it. It has voice acting, custom pop-up screens for each room, a completely original boss, final boss at that.). I can't even tell you how long it took Mario 64 romhackers to learn how to completely replace the final boss without it being a reskin of the base rom's final boss, as well as replace the end scene from Mario 64 (specifically the end card with the cake and Mario saying "Thank you-a so much for playing my game!"). The fact that Sonic 1 romhacking has advanced so much, like how greatly Mario 64 romhacking has advanced since the old days of romhacks, is a good sign for the Sonic romhacking scene. btw, if anyone is interested, and possess the unofficial PC port of Mario 64 (that I believe requires a Mario 64 rom to gather data from to work), I'd like to inform you, there's a Spamton (from Deltarune) mod for it out there. It does more than reskin Mario. There's custom dialog and music from Deltarune, as well as some changes for Spamton's animations instead of Mario. Specifically, the complete level animation

What a fun and neat hack. Again i am always surprised creative people get, it shows more can be done with game we think is dead in its tracks. Sonic games can and should be better than what turned out. I seen clips of the new Sonic game and it makes me sad because in my opinion from what ive seen, it looks empty, it looks poor. This could of been a neat game back in the day like Mario Kart. I think Sega let Sonic down. Thank You BTG, never fail to make me smile

btw, Johnny is from the sequel to Sonic Rush, that being, Sonic Rush Adventure. In that game, you would race him several times, to find and get the Emeralds if I recall correctly. Though, you would race him across the water, and so, Sonic would need to use a vehicle for traveling across water (I do not remember the proper name of it) of some sort to race him, as Sonic cannot swim. The reason Sonic cannot swim, is because Yuji Naka assumed hedgehogs can't swim, so, he applied it to Sonic, and Sonic has not been able to swim ever. (that episode of Sonic X where Sonic dives into the water to save Amy from drowning does not count, it's moreso he put his life on the line to save Amy's, and had no prior swim lessons to learn how to swim.) Tails on the other hand, he can swim just fine. As, in the 2D Sonic games, in water, Tails' flying animation, is replaced with a swimming animation while in that water. I know a ton about the Sonic franchise, including the truths to some misconceptions that people treat as absolute facts when it isn't. Example: People assume Sonic's beta name was "Mr. Needlemouse", but in truth, that was a translation error. What was actually said in that reveal of that beta name, was that Sonic's beta name was "Mr. Hedgehog". I also know the truths of misconceptions of other franchises that fans treat as absolute fact. Such as: In the Mario franchise, it's believed that Bowser's "wife" was known as "Clawdia" and was revealed in an issue of Nintendo Power, but only in Europe. When in truth, Nintendo Power magazine never reached Europe, and the name "Clawdia" was a character some fan made-up for their own fanmade story. I don't mean to seem like I'm lecturing you, I'm not. I'm just trying to get some truths, as well as background info about games in their development history, with actual facts, to be more well-known when the actual truths are mostly unknown among those on this world. I will state something funny though. A long time ago, using a school computer when I was in school, I somehow ended up on a website that covered old Japanese manga about Sonic, and in one page, Tails is talking about needing to collect the rest of the Chaos Emeralds, while Sonic is thinking of how much he can sell the Chaos Emeralds for, in money. Another manga page on the same website, has Yuji Naka appear before Sonic, and he requests of Sonic to have him (Sonic) be a part of his videogame. I do not remember what Sonic's reaction to that was. It was several years ago I found that website by mistake, and I don't remember what I searched to find it, I don't remember what the site was called, and I dunno if that site even still exists on the Internet, as web domains can be gone without warning
