Based on a line from Sonic Generations and the description of all of Shadow's moves in Sonic Battle, Chaos Spear is an application of Chaos Control. Sonic even uses it or a move identical to it as Super Sonic multiple times in Frontiers. That being said, Sonic X is a parallel universe. Also, Shadow says to Sonic if you play as Sonic by the four minute mark of the Finalhazard fight "Sonic! I think I figured out what the ultimate lifeform is... It might be YOU!".

@@jennypagan6120 It’s still canon. For example, Sonic has mentioned some things from Secret Rings in Generations. Like, how he rescued a genie or something. Think of it like a side quest. Not as relevant as main quests, but still happened. Persona is a better example of a spin off game that isn’t canon. The main series is Shin Megami Tensei. And Persona takes place is an alternate timeline. So the events of Persona isn’t canon to SMT. But nobody ever said that Secret Rings and Black Knight were alternate timelines. It’s still the main Sonic, except he was taken to other dimensions.

But I will say that's the dumbest response ever. I've seen tons of Wikis actually cover the *whole series* even if they aren't canon. That's what Wikis are meant to be, a place for all information on a topic. Who cares if it's 'canon' or not? Examples I've seen, being the Dragon Ball Wiki and the FNaF Wiki. They have pages about tons of content not canon to the main series like Dragon Ball Heroes, or The Silver Eyes novels for example. A good wiki shouldn't care if media is canon, as long as it's official.

So game sonic and sonic x sonic and various comic sonics all have different wiki entries. Plus, most of sonic x might even get mentioned in main wiki stuff, but specifically season 3 was never even aired in japan and took a LOT of liberties.

@@felixromero9532 actually, shadow CAN use chaos control without an emerald but he chooses not to as it'll drain at his stamina, he knows this because of it happening to both sonic and shadow, in sonics case it was when he used chaos control with a fake emerald, since the fake emerald didn't have enough chaos energy, chaos control took that energy directly from sonic instead, this is why sonic was so tired after using it, shadow's case is more obscure, shadow always uses chaos control in battle without others noticing to make himself faster by slowing down time, due to this, when he doesn't have an emerald he's at a disadvantage, well, it turns out the disadvantage isn't as big as it seems, as in sonic battle, emrld says that exact thing to shadow "wont you be at a disadvantage by giving me the emerald?" to which shadow replies that he doesn't need it as long as he has maria in his heart, this isn't just shadow being cheeky, but rather a direct reference to the fact you control chaos energy with your heart, what shadow really meant is that having sorted his maria trauma at that time made him mentally stable enough to use all his chaos abilities without an emerald, this recoils into chaos control, as its literally the only reason he can match people like sonic or silver before they made him stronger later, and seeing as doom could use chaos control without an emerald, and that the biolizard, which was shadowa prototype, had an organ exclusive to using chaos control, it only makes sense that shadow would have this organ too, perhaps that organ along with dooms dna may explain why he needs the inhibitor rings to begin with, given chaos drives act as chaos energy batteries (better version of the fake emerald yet worse at the same time) mayhaps shadow was supposed to have a chaos drive or multiple on his body but wasn't given them, and as a result he cant handle his max output, or maybe he does have them, and the rings remove any excess that they cant handle, it would also explain shadows growth to keep up with sonic to an extent you see, there's another character with inhibitor rings, and that's amy, this info also comes from sonic battle, amy wears inhibitor rings because she's physically too strong, her piko piko hammer gets heavier over time, and weights like a ton, the problem is, amy can carry a ton like its nothing WITH her inhibitor rings, as a side effect of holding back her power it caused her to grow stronger to keep up with the hammer its also worth noting shadows inhibitor rings are not the original, shadows original rings were dented but the new ones aren't, since this didn't happen to amy's its likely that eggman upgraded them, for one reason or another, its likely that the ring that shadow lost wasn't removed by him, but actually may have fallen off due to the power of the 7 emeralds combined with shadows, that or it slipped when sonic tried to catch him since the writers said that sonic tried o catch him when he fell anyways im rambling too much lol, i love shadow and have learned a lot about him in the last few years

If it were canon,All the possibilities of combat card combinations would be canon too, but SEGA didn't want that. Yes, Shadow can use chaos control and any chaos power without chaos emeralds, what I mean is that the inhibitor rings prevent him from using all the chaos energy so that he doesn't get out of control. According to SEGA, he can't do chaos control without a chaos emerald, but they never said he didn't have his own chaos energy or anything like that. This one has enough chaos energy to do chaos snap and chaos spear.

He can, but then with Shadow, it seems that while Sonic CAN do his techniques for the most part, Shadow has more refinement of the techniques in comparison. IDW even took Sonic's Fake Emerald feat and gave it to Shadow seven times over, even showing that while Sonic was tired with using Chaos Control with one fake Emerald, Shadow could do it and then some, only then tired after warping several city sized Fake Emeralds to near space, then warping back before they went nuclear.

Sonic needs to be Super to use Chaos attacks. He needs to be holding a Chaos Emerald to use Chaos Control outside of Super Sonic. Shadow has been seen throughout the series using Chaos abilities without a Chaos Emerald multiple times. This is due to Chaos energy being infused into him during his creation. My theory is, at first, he needed a Chaos Emerald to use the abilities to control the output of each attack for a little while. As time went on, he no longer needed the help of the Emeralds to use his Chaos abilities.

It’s called Sonic Wind It’s blue in his normal state but goes yellow when he goes Super. It was introduced as the same time as Chaos Spear in SA2 but hasn’t been used since. This looks nothing like Sonic Wind, Sonic Wind is a blue whirl that Sonic can make appear surrounding someone, this is literally a blast of energy he shoots out of his hands, just like Shadow did literally some seconds before Sonic did in the anime Sonic learned how to use Chaos Control with Shadow, and Shadow can only use abilities such as Chaos Control, Chaos Spear and Chaos Blast thanks to the Chaos Emeralds, since Sonic learned and proved to be powerful enough to do it with 1 emerald too, it's not surprising that he can use Chaos Spear, if he tried I bet he could even use Chaos Blast too

Shadow is just bootlegged version of Sonic. In Sonic Rivals, Sonic can also use Chaos control like Shadow. But he rather relies more on his speed than the power of Chaos, rather than shadow.

He also has the “Sonic Wind” attack which is more or less a variation of Chaos Spear. Given that it’s only ever seen in the SA2 multiplayer mode (far as I know at least) I wouldn’t be surprised if more casual Sonic fans hadn’t heard of it before.

The other move might be a Reference to "Sonic Wind" Sonics equivalent move to Chaos Spear in the Sonic Adventure 2, 2 player mode. Due to the glowing effect that means it's a chaos powered ability, and the fact it attacks invisibly and seems to spread and keep going like wind.

I think with Frontiers and especially Sonic Battle having been out, energy attacks from Sonic are -yeah, him using chaos powers, but just ways he does them in different scenarios. Sonic Wind is the SA2 parallel to Chaos Spear and then you have the tornado attack he has in Heroes and the lightspeed "attack" with the energy balls that can still hit enemies as they zoom to you across the Adventure games. Spear is probably just what Shadow's coined his usage of it being so in tune with these powers that he almost puts Knuckles to shame.

Have you ever played it? It's a completely different move. Sonic Wind is a blue tornado that Sonic creates, not a yellow bolt of energy.

I'm not sure between the one who constantly grows stronger every fight he's in and seems to learn, or the one who matches said Ultimate Lifeform while still wearing Power Inhibitors the entire time (I assume Shadow's Vegeta mentality treats needing to remove his limiters the same way Vegeta treats his Ozaru form as something he had in the kit but shouldn't treat as a win if he used them to win)
