Sonic Colors Ultimate still sucks.

I'm going to say it here, but just because I don't like this game, it shouldn't deter you from liking it, and if you do like it, then great! It's unacceptable how much harassment, straw manning, gatekeeping and malicious complacency there was during the pre release. Like the SLIGHTEST bit of valid critique or arguments being shot down by actual flaws, hell even being told factual statements was considered evil or an attack towards Sonic. That's why the Sonic Community wonders why they get so much backlash and are treated as a punching bag due to how insecure they are with their love of Sonic. He isn't your family member, he doesn't visit you when you're sick. He is a fictional character and therefore is not anyone's friend. Yet any critique or negative take equals a death sentence.

The studio behind Colors Ultimate, “Blind Squirrel Entertainment”, has a terrible track record… particularly with seizure-inducing visual effects. •They were responsible for the Bioshock Remastered Collection, which had flickering colored squares in the water. •They ported Sunset Overdrive to PC, and on launch, the Depth of Field effect was a glitchy green mess. There’s no screenshots of it online from what I can tell, but I can personally vouch that this green DOF effect happened when I first played it on PC, plus the PCGamingWiki page for Sunset Overdrive backs this up •And of course, Sonic Colors Ultimate shipped with some _wild_ seizure-inducing bugs, especially on Switch

Yeah that is one point I missed out whilst making this video: I should've clarified that the seizure glitches were more of a Switch bug than they were a PC/XBOX/PS5 bug. But yeah, I'm still baffled that Sonic Team still decided to work with Blind Squirrel, knowing that one, they have a terrible track record, and two, had probably play tested the game and knew the seizure bugs were still in the game, but decided to leave them. It still baffles me that Sonic Team released the game in the state it was, all the while knowing that Blind Squirrel had completely screwed them over. To quote Bigsleeter, "Sonic gets kissed by a human, uh oh! Sonic gives you a seizure? Meh, at least it's Colors."

​​@@SpeedstersUnited you should've wait till the golden week of Sega when they OFF their products...yes I bought sonic colors in that golden week of Sega half of the price and played it...I can safely say it has a normal/solid game play and the horrendous glitches are gone fully..the patches they released for this game it mostly fixed this game like 85% of this game but there's still some slight issues with this game that really bother others but doesn't bother me much..but overall for me it was a fun experience and didn't come across to any glitches or bugs while I was playing it so it's safe..i play steam version btw.so because of it's solid gameplay I would atleast give 8/10 at best.. But sonic colors ultimate with mods yeah... it's a 10/10 But I can confidently say the game is decently good enough to actually play the game with no bugs and glitches atleast in the steam version I play I don't know about other consoles that's just my experience from this game but if you have a different opinion shoot it

I really wish this game had more time in development to be honest. The game is enjoyable in some parts. If you're going to call something ultimate why not make it a labor of love? Why couldn't there be really thought provoking levels that were really challenging to test the players skills. (Like the data fights in Kingdom hearts 2.5) not too easy nor too hard just right. I'm just thankful this game didn't end up like Tombraider angel of darkness even saying that title makes my skin crawl. For example, make sure everytbing runs smoothly; along with working out any glitches game breaking bugs instead of rushing out a half baked producted.

Actually this isn’t that bad now. Well in its launch it had horrendous glitches that can have consequences, but now those glitches are gone so you can play this game right now on modern platforms without emulation or buying a Wii and a copy of sonic colors

I bought the game 2 days ago not knowing what i got myself into The only sonic game i ever played and 100% is UNLEASHED! I played SCU for a total of like 2 hours... Well im dissapointed even unleashed on ps3 would please me more

This remaster does really suck. I hate when people defend it by saying that it's still fun. It's a remaster of a fun game, all that means is that they didn't completely ruin it, and the bar needs to be higher than that. They didn't fix all the bugs either, the game is still littered with them, many of which are impossible to miss, like Sonic's running animation on the world map being half the speed it should be. Project Re-Rainbow looks like an excellent mod though. It fixes basically every issue I had with the vanilla game. Absolutely look into it if you haven't.

@@kaobunn I mean the context is different. Sonic Colors Ultimate is still fun because it's Sonic Colors. You'd have to make the game borderline unplayable to not clear that bar. The only rerelease that I've played that I can think of off the top of my head that doesn't even do that is Sonic Genesis on GBA. A remaster's job is to be better than the original, and Colors Ultimate fails to do that in most ways. I can still have fun with it, but that's not because of Colors Ultimate.

I mean I wouldn't really call that walking animation on map as an issue of the gameplay itself because it's not much of a big deal...but if you want better things from this game and had higher expectations just mod the game simple as that like I'm doing right now

@@JakeThehedgehog-m1x I never said it was a gameplay issue, and it absolutely does matter because it's a remaster, and remasters are supposed to look better. Like why would I play Ultimate over the original when the original looks so much better? Mods like that currently don't really exist. One will soon, which is great, but that should never be used to defend a broken product.

@@brendanblair64 I suppose you have a point here the game isn't fully remaster only abit and you had high expectations for this remaster that's why you're disappointed I mean maybe I'm just easy to like things but I enjoyed this game it's a 8/10 but anyway...you can use the re-rainbow mod project this mod completely perfected the game...like those patches they released it only fixed major and annoying issue like it fixed 80% of the game which it makes the game solid enough atleast but the re-rainbow project mod absolutely perfected the game! I recommend you use that mod.

I can't really hate Sonic Colors Ultimate, I have the Xbox Series S version of the game and I have had no glitches or problems (maybe 2 or 3 small funny little glitches but that's really it). I guess I'm just lucky or something.

Yes. I will admit. Colors Ultimate sucks. But hey. Aren't we forgetting something? Project Re-Rainbow? I don't know. I don't want to insult you people including you, Speedsters United. But you might be living under a rock and don't know what excactly I'm talking about. But if you do, good for you. Get hyped for it when it's ready to be played on the PC version.

Sonic colours is one of the sonic games of my childhood. Played it endlessly on my wii. I bought the ultimate version and refunded it at starlight carnival. The bloom is all over the place which makes the color pallet overly saturated and "white'er". This remaster just sucks and I hate that.

@@SpeedstersUnited yeah that was rushed, I don't mind the new features and cosmetics, I love Sonic Colours and love the frame rate improvement but the graphics look untidy and rushed and could have been polished better, plus the cosmetics make this worse. And I'm not a huge fan of the remixed tracks either. I think if they spent more time testing for bugs and perfecting the graphics I would've enjoyed Sonic Colours Ultimate more

To be fair I love this game I will give sonic colors ultimate a B tier because I had a lot of fun playing the game getting all the red rings I finally unlocked super sonic if the sonic fans doesn't know about how to unlock super sonic all you need to do is get 180 red rings and then beat all the stages in gameland and you will finally unlock super sonic that's my own guide hope this helps for you sonic fans in the future

Well I will say in my Adventures though Sonic Rants This one made me die laughing I will say this i don't think Ultimate is "That" Bad but i do agree playing on Dolphin is way better and i feel like why the Graphics look the way they do is because its though a New game engine Godot Engine. I feel like it could have bean done better but also if you are not a fan of the OG Game i can see were you are coming from In The End i think this is a good rant video but i feel like you could have done a little bit of a better job Explaining your issues with the game but that's just me Keep up the great work
