Sega literally had a decade to port these mobile versions to other platforms, and THIS is the state that they're in. Origins isn't horrible, I'd even go as far to say it's perfectly *fine.* But considering the AMOUNT of problems on display here, it makes you wonder how this even got released. Compare this to Bethesda's Doom 1, 2, 3, and 64 remasters on modern consoles, and the difference is night and day. For 30 bucks, Origins should be better.

My theory about why the save files are they way they are in S1/SCD/S2 is that Sonic Team was somewhat inexperienced with the Retro Engine of another team. And since Sonic CD's save file select interestingly also doesn't have a level select and just has you play the last level over again in perpetuity, they'd have to code in a new level select for that game when, as a reminder, they couldn't even implement the Drop Dash properly in those games, instead disguising a Spin Dash as it. So they probably just went for consistency in crippling all three save file selects to work like SCD's because they couldn't be bothered to get Headcannon to make SCD's save file select function like the other games. Though that doesn't explain the one save file per character thing, so maybe that's just a weird creative choice on their part. Also small correction, the Boss Rush save file glitchery was introduced prior to that update listed on TCRF, and it seems to affect pre-existing Boss Rush save files from before that patch was downloaded. I will say I don't blame them for trying to make SCD's menus more authentic to the original, controversial as that may be.

I think it's real stupid how Sega not only said that Hyper Sonic isn't canon when he could've been a perfect inclusion to Frontiers' Final Horizon update, but also that "only male hedgehogs have super forms." Like, that is the dumbest criteria ever. It's just an excuse to not make Super Tails and Super Knuckles assets for Heroes. As for the super forms themselves, well, Tails should keep the Super/Hyper loadout, where Super is by himself and Hyper brings in the Super Flickies. And the other super forms should have unique colors. I'd make Super Knuckles green (like the Master Emerald), Amy rose-gold, Mighty purple, and Ray cyan. As for Tails, I'd keep him the same brighter yellow, but if I had to change it, probably red. Overall, why doesn't Sega just add the 1/CD/2 mobile menus? THEY'RE RIGHT THERE!

When they allowed her to be, Amy was really lit of a character. I never really gave Sonic X much attention cause I hated how she was depicted in the games as seemingly only existing to annoy Sonic and slow him down, but Sonic X made her much closer to how she is in Boom where she's a genuine force to be reckoned with, giving her the Chi chi or Bulma glow up. Fortunately they fixed her character in recent games making her all the more loveable and not just a really terrible stereotype.

I bought Origins Plus on PC 2 months ago and I've personally had quite a lot of fun playing through these remasters. Although it's the worst optimised version of the game by far, (it was absolutely awful on my laptop at first before I upgraded my RAM and switched to an SSD) it's at least easy enough to mod to fix some of the nitpicks I had with the compilation. Nothing too game changing, but whatever. Anyway I love playing as Amy; she's already my go-to character for a quick playthrough of any game :p But yeah, the lack of a proper save menu for Sonic 1, 2 and CD really sucks. Granted, it doesn't bother me too much since I tend to finish the games in one sitting, and I personally feel collecting the chaos emeralds/time stones aren't really worth the hassle in those games. Still, it's a no-brainer when the older remasters had them around. I also feel sorry for those who got the digital deluxe edition last year as they still have to pay full price for Plus which is just simply a terrible deal so I can understand the hesitancy there. As a newcomer it's a decent deal I suppose, but yeah... even with its faults, Plus is the point where I finally consider Origins to be somewhat worth it, and it's what it should've been at release. It might've been better if Origins had received a delay to 2023 for exactly this. PS: I assume Knuckles & Tails is not an allowed option in S3&K because of the fact Knuckles has to take his own paths. Having Tails around to fly him would allow Knuckles to enter Sonic's paths which I imagine would create some issues. PPS: the Tails underwater crash in Sonic 1 seems to affect only console versions. Seems that PC is unaffected. Which is even more weird...

Want to know something amusing? Headcannon actually thought about that and included eggman/eggrobo sprites for each of the bosses depending on who you play as, some of which you would never know without debug mode or level select.

A new patch just dropped. It changes Knuckles arms in special stages of sonic 2 to red, it fixed the tails crash in sonic 1, and the boss rush loading has been fixed. (I assume tails’ jump height in sonic 1 has also been fixed, but I haven’t tested it)

I think X being start in the gamegear games might be based on how on the 3DS virtual console alot of the games would have X as the start button for some odd reason
