Never have I been felt so called out by an OC in all my life. I'm here for it.

8:35 "I am who I am, just like you are who you are" I'm guessing this was a callback to SA2 with Sonic saying "I am who I am" in the final battle of Hero/Dark Side Story and "He was who he was" in the end of Last Episode of SA2

Thank you very much Windii, Forces was with Lost World and the game Shadow the games that needed a translation the most. The Forces storyline deserved to be more developed but it becomes ok in Japanese. Infinite is colder, the jokes are less botched, Sonic is less annoying (even if it's not the best writing of the character). It's a shame that Tails' regression isn't more developed because it's not a bad idea, it's even logical that in this extreme situation where they lost everything Tails felt responsible and like Eggman won ever more ground, Tails' failures have re-opened his fragilities. We must not forget that he was a martyred and abandoned kid who was built around Sonic. He ended up evolving and gaining self-confidence but it's a good thing to show that the characters are not infallible and that they can fall back into their bad ways if the situation is serious enough. It would have just taken a little flashback to show it and also shown that the G.U.N was eradicated by Eggman Your Avatar is too cool ! 😉

Thank you, Windii! Many scenes just make SO MUCH more sense now. Say, “Eggman was here with Infinite” is definitely clearer than “This is where Eggman built Infinite” (??? Since when did he become a robot?). I’m also not sure why Infinite in the English version of the game speaks in this holier-than-thou, stately, formal tone. Liam O’Brien is an incredible VA, ofc - it’s just the sudden formality that is surprising, considering that both in the prequel comic and in your translation Infinite uses a much more straightforward language.
@WindiiGitlordКүн бұрын
I'm pretty sure the "built Infinite" bit is a leftover from an earlier version of the story. The final Japanese script came after the English one, so Toyoda got around it by not including any specific verb at all. Also Infinite does talk in a formal tone when he's with Eggman.

@@WindiiGitlordThanks! Didn’t know that. And that’s a surprisingly neat little detail. Could it be that, as a mercenary, he actually acknowledges Eggman as his employer? A pity we don’t get to see more of his dynamics with the Jackal Squad. Either way, thank you so much for your work!

At last, all of us with Sonic cutscene playlists can kick out the compilations using that awful Retranslated mod. I do miss the old "masked prick" line, though. Also, that OC! What a bad bitch! Runnin' around pantsless, challenging the gender norms of her society! What a hero! She could beat up my Forces cutscenes OC, Chaz Hardcock, anytime!

How is Retranslated "awful?" Because it's outdated? No shit.
@YourUncleBenis4 ай бұрын
@@CorruptFox92 The retranslated mod, even before it became outdated, had certain "additional translation work" done to it that made it lesser, even compared to Windii's old translation. One example is the constant usage of, "bastard" which just felt heavily out of place.
Cannot believe in JP they somehow made Knuckles even stupider saying it took him ONE minute to devise his siege plan. Absolute knucklehead. The writing makes it seem like the logical thing to do I realize, but as an army strategist you need *a lot* more time before you decide to execute a plan.

I mean, there isn't reeeeally any swear words in Japanese, not like in English. So it's no surprise.

@cawareyoudoin7379 They do have profanity. Pretty much every language has it. It's just that Sonic and other kid stuff doesn't really have that harsh language.

@galten73615 ай бұрын
@cawareyoudoin7379 You can read up on them online. Short enough to say they have plenty of it and Sonic like other shows/comics/video games directed at its demographic doesn't have much profanity in it. Saying "kuso" in isolation is not that harsh hence seeing it in shonen manga. Same for kisama (it can be localized as "you bastard" or "you jerk").
