12:56 An interesting dialogue, I don't remember that Rouge was "stubborn" in this story, but that dialogue reinforces the possibility that this Shadow is the real one. (That at least he remembers her)
@TheNemesis4324 ай бұрын
She's stubborn because she goes after the prize she failed to acquire last time. And yeah this line is probably the strongest one as a hint, but there are others in Heroes (and Shadow) which hint at Shadow memories returning. Shadow (as in the game) tries to imply what probably all of these memories were implanted by Eggman (how else would Sonic Team expect us to interpret Shadow remembering his own death and concluding he has to be an android) Frankly Shadow possibly being an android was an interesting plotpoint (which is proven by fans latching on to it so much), so it's disappointing what they didn't really do much with it (or Androids as well).
@AccelerateHedgeАй бұрын
I think that line is more meant to show that Rouge DID fill Shadow in on what happened.

I love how Omega shows to be more allied and become 'friendly' towards Shadow and Rouge. Initially stating that he would have attacked Shadow and Rouge if they got in front of him, to later accept Shadow's request to hold his revenge due Eggman potentially having done or knowing something of Shadow's memories.

If Team Sonic are following Team Dark in hang castle, that must mean that Dark won the battle. That's what I always thought anyway lol.

I always wondered what the "canon" versions of the fights in SA2 and Heroes were Like Shadow beating Sonic on Prison Island but then losing against him on the race to the Eclipse Cannon. Or Tails beating Eggman on board the ARK after he lost originally on Prison Island as well Team Dark probably wins both, Team Sonic beats Team Rose and maybe Team Rose defeats the Chaotix

@Nighterac2 ай бұрын
Yup in some places, English is actually better. Compared to other games around this era (looking at you Shadow), Heroes is very faithfully translated, to the point it can sound a little awkward The "stubborn and full of surprises" thing from this same cutscene is straight from JP SA2, when the English version said "I die hard" instead.
@deniedred2 ай бұрын
@@Nighterac yeah i heard about that! i kinda wish we got that callback in the eng version, but “i die hard” is such a fun line by itself anyway, ryan drummond really sells it
@Nighterac2 ай бұрын
@@deniedred Yeah Sonic really should have said something like "Talk about dying hard.." in the English version because by it being accurate to the JP line, it just comes across as an awkward line when it's supposed to be a direct callback to something Sonic said himself back in SA2 lol

I have been playing the Sonic games in Japanese recently trying to familiarise myself with the language more and it's quite interesting seeing what the differences are. Like how 4:36 is a callback to SA2 where before the final Sonic vs Shadow, Sonic says that his stubbornness is a virtue (or something to that effect) and here he's basically saying Shadow is too. The English line in Heroes is the same, but they never said that in English SA2. So while the line makes sense, it's a shame the line in Heroes isn't about "dying hard" to accomodate.

One thing I want to point out that I noticed: Interestingly enough they used Ryan Drummond’s Metal Sonic scream for the Last Story cutscene for the Japanese dub, which is strange since the English cast had to have dubbed after the Japanese cast since the Japanese actors were the first ones to receive the scripts. Am I the only one who noticed this?

@@TheTrollingPokémon247 The English script is translated. But the voice acting was done first so the CG cutscenes could be animated to it.

@@WindiiGitlordright, I’m aware that the English scripts were translated and how that works. However I found it confusing that the first dub of the game would use something from the second dub even though the English cast recorded their lines before those cutscenes were animated, rather than having Jun’Ichi Kanemaru record another Metal Sonic scream for the Japanese dub instead.

part of me was hoping the "Kneel before your master," part of NEO Metal's first line of dialogue wasn't adlibbed in the ENG dub, since it would've been fun to think about in regards to the theory that Sonic is the Ultimate Life Form, but it seems like it was edited by the official translation.. the game still contributes a lot to his character regardless
@feliciaroseantonia7 ай бұрын
Jun'ichi's "So, we are! Sonic! He-roes~!" at the very end of the last cutscene omg 😭💞 Also, I just looked up his age (I actually wanted to just make sure I was spelling his name correctly, & so I just happened to see his age as well), and, doing the math... turns out he was just about FORTY YEARS OLD while recording voice lines for this game. I say that since this game is turning 20 this year, and I'd imagine the voice acting was done about a year prior to the game's release (since that's more or less what happens with at least live-action films as well, of course). I don't know why, I always thought he started voicing Sonic (not too long prior to this game, of course) when he was, like, 18 or 19, or perhaps in his early 20s or something. I guess it makes sense, though. Sure, some people perhaps just don't really look their age in general per-se, but Japan in particular is known for having excellent health care, and thus longer lifespans for people on average. Though, then again, there's also a toxic over-working culture there that's arguably even worse than ours over here in the U.S., which is saying something for sure... but still. That reminds me, iirc, I think it was Morio Kishimoto who had overworked himself quite a bit while working on this game in particular. I learned about it last year and was quite concerned for him about it, even though it's already been like 20 years or so since then. I love Sonic so so much, and Heroes is arguably my favorite game, if I had to choose one. (Adventures 1 & 2 are tied for a close 2nd place, and Frontiers in 3rd for me personally.) So it feels a lot like when I learned about the first two Spiderverse movies having had similar over-working environments. I love the product, but it's not worth it to have anyone's health be put at risk. Thus, even if it means we have to wait years for the final product to be released, then ultimately, that's still what should happen. If it means people are safe and healthy, then that's what should happen, because that's all that matters. Health matters more than other people's entertainment. -(coughDeltarunefanscough)- I dunno. That got kind of off-topic, I guess, but it's not something I've seen people talk about a lot regarding Heroes, so I figured I'd mention it since it came to mind.
