Blaze's arc is very well crafted. Sonic is like an older brother advising Blaze that not everything can be solved alone and that's why she can ask for help from someone she can count on. This is one of the best games in the Sonic series.

The development of Blaze's friendship with Cream is well-constructed, she gradually learned about the Sonic Universe, met people and opened up little by little until Sonic made her realize that having friends and being able to count on them is important. Amy is the most annoying character in this game, her obsession with Sonic is so exaggerated that she becomes threatening when a girl she doesn't know wants to meet him. Some people don't complain when a girl chases a boy when he doesn't like her and think he's being rude to her, but if it were a boy chasing a girl they would find him annoying. What a contradiction!

Blaze the Cat is one of the female characters that I really like. Amy is very annoying and irritating with Sonic, as soon as he mentions a girl in front of her she gets even crazier, he doesn't understand that Sonic doesn't see her the same way she sees him.

Thank you, Windii! Many scenes just make SO MUCH more sense now. Say, “Eggman was here with Infinite” is definitely clearer than “This is where Eggman built Infinite” (??? Since when did he become a robot?). I’m also not sure why Infinite in the English version of the game speaks in this holier-than-thou, stately, formal tone. Liam O’Brien is an incredible VA, ofc - it’s just the sudden formality that is surprising, considering that both in the prequel comic and in your translation Infinite uses a much more straightforward language.
@WindiiGitlord20 сағат бұрын
I'm pretty sure the "built Infinite" bit is a leftover from an earlier version of the story. The final Japanese script came after the English one, so Toyoda got around it by not including any specific verb at all. Also Infinite does talk in a formal tone when he's with Eggman.

@@WindiiGitlordThanks! Didn’t know that. And that’s a surprisingly neat little detail. Could it be that, as a mercenary, he actually acknowledges Eggman as his employer? A pity we don’t get to see more of his dynamics with the Jackal Squad. Either way, thank you so much for your work!

Windii, do you know who localized Frontiers Super Final Battle? I know Kishimoto localized the cutscenes for the main Frontiers, and he changed the whole script. I know Ootsu localized the in-game dialogue/voice logs, which are more 1 to 1 translations. The way SFB is translated is very reminiscent of Ootsu's way of translating. Because, much like Eggman's voice diaries and all of the in-game dialogue, it's generally more 1 to 1, so it would make sense that Ootsu did SFB as well. I'm not sure though, so I'm wondering if you do. Original Frontiers was already inconsistent with Ootsu and Kishimoto approaching the localization in 2 different ways, so SFB only being done by Ootsu would explain a lot. It seems apparent there was a lack of communication from Kishimoto to Ootsu that the script was supposed to be heavily altered, not translated 1 to 1, resulting in Ootsu not doing what Kishimoto did for Frontiers and what Toyoda has done for the 2010s era games, and that is significantly altering the English script.

@@andrewfaulconer52 No, but Toyoda was involved in supervising unlike the base game. So that's probably part of it.

@@WindiiGitlord I see, that probably explains why the dialogue turned out to be a lot less clunky similar to his own localizations.

I have been playing the Sonic games in Japanese recently trying to familiarise myself with the language more and it's quite interesting seeing what the differences are. Like how 4:36 is a callback to SA2 where before the final Sonic vs Shadow, Sonic says that his stubbornness is a virtue (or something to that effect) and here he's basically saying Shadow is too. The English line in Heroes is the same, but they never said that in English SA2. So while the line makes sense, it's a shame the line in Heroes isn't about "dying hard" to accomodate.

I love how Omega shows to be more allied and become 'friendly' towards Shadow and Rouge. Initially stating that he would have attacked Shadow and Rouge if they got in front of him, to later accept Shadow's request to hold his revenge due Eggman potentially having done or knowing something of Shadow's memories.
