The fact that neo metal Sonic appears blows my mind. It is said in idw that eggman intended to use neo metal Sonic in war,But when neo metal Sonic was ready, the war of Sonic forces was already over. But here we can see what it would have been like if neo had been finished on time

While Infinite used phantom illusions of Metal Sonic to fight the resistance, Eggman meanwhile performed some upgrades on the real Metal Soni, making him Neo Metal Sonic again, as a last ace in the hole should Infinite fail to defeat Sonic. Neo Metal was hidden away by Eggman to be used at the right moment. He never got the chance, though. By the time Neo was ready, Sonic and the Resistance swiftly defeated Infinite and toppled the Eggman Empire. Eggman himself went missing, the power of the Phantom Ruby causing him to lose his memory and making him believe he was the kindly Mr. Tinker. With no signal to attack, Neo Metal waited. Until, like last time, he decided that he would rule the Empire in Eggman's stead, until the day he could find him and return him to power.

I love how Neo Metal Sonic speaks for a lot of fans who felt Infinite should've been the final boss. "The Doctor cast you aside before you had the chance to show your full potential. This mod reminded me of why I loved Sonic as a kid This is the most Sonic Adventure type thing I've seen since Sonic Unleashed. I can't thank the devs enough for making this. It feels like the old Sega made this. All of the voice acting was good, but I was really impressed with how on point Infinite was. It almost sounded like the original voice in Forces.

What I like most about Metal and Infinite's partnership here is that for all that Infinite gives Metal shit for being "just like eggman", Metal didn't abandon him even in the end. For all that they argued, Metal could have tried to throw Infinite under the bus and escaped to fight another day, but instead chose to stick around and combine their powers. Even if he made many of the same mistakes that eggman did by getting too confident and not killing Sonic when he could, he proved that he is more like the real Sonic than he is just another badnick, by choosing teamwork and companionship over self preservation.

Idk why you're praising this partnership so much, it was clear Metal cared more about being the true Sonic than he did being genuine partners with Infinite. Eggman never threw Infinite away, and Infinite showed respect towards him for granting him this power and giving him the opportunity to become something more. Yeah he was sassy a couple times, but he never indicated once that was going to betray Eggman or did Eggman ever throw Infinite out. That's what I loved about their relationship in the actual game and this butchers it lol

In a perfect universe, Sonic Forces was the “Episode” and THIS was the game. COMPLETELY ASTOUNDING. The voice acting, the remixes, the level design in every aspect: visually, divergent-pathing, the scripted events, camera angles, seamless use of original assets and set pieces like the flaming thorns and asteroids, story-writing and tasteful call-backs There is nothing like watching Infinite get called weak and instead of exploding on them, just getting very sneery but clearly pissed off- also the casual and chilling death of a resistance squad in the jungle okay I see you 👀👀👀 The ending is so good too bc it really invokes the Generations ending while still having its own character and I laughed out loud frfr And the integration and nods to every character and their history in the series is so lovingly designed I love it so much- Eggman pitching in begrudgingly but still being a genuine menace, Silver not being familiar with Neo Metal Sonic, “Rookie” graduating to “Soldier,” Fist Bumps getting handed out without excessive verbalization or monologues about “the two of us” really emphasizing the showing of their bond > telling, it’s soooo good.

The team really out did themselves, finally seeing infinite recieve better story aspects alongside Eggman and the rest of the main crew. Voice Acting, Art Design, Game Soundtracks were all just the chefs kiss, 10/10. As well as the addition to Neo Metal Sonic is absoloutely fitting for the theme of this game with the eventual tease for a possibility for a newer project. Why go the lazy route and have the heroes fight Robotnik. I would prefer something like this as a plot twist. Infinite even made it clear he was working for Robotnik for his own selfish reasons.
