It is very similar to that of Shadow, and there is a theory that I like to believe according to which Gerald Robotnik saw the Doomsday zone mural in Hidden Palace and created the ultimate life form based on Super Sonic's looks, which would explain why they are similar and why Shadow thought that Sonic could actually be the Ultimate Life Form!

I always figured that, since shadow is obsessed with being the ultimate and having all this power, he was just very impressed with how powerful super sonic is, being that he's never seen that kind of power before.
