Not just EDM…modern music in general is pretty much stuck in 2005-2010…meaning there hasn’t really been anything radically new introduced since then….but that’s not necessarily a problem :)
@uldrs Жыл бұрын
@@LordXsi I heavily disagree. The difference between even the most basic songs from the 2010s and now have been fairly substantial with a lot of artists stepping away from the minimalist rock/metal hell that we had to go through in the early 2000s and the dance-pop nightmare of the early and mid 2010s. If you go deeper than just the charts though there has NEVER been as much variety in music than right now. You can walk from artist to artist and get completely different sound that we've never really explored before.
@LordXsi Жыл бұрын
@@uldrs you might be right, but we’re also in the age of bubbles. Everyone has their own “radio”. No central source establishes “popular music styles” anymore…. Maybe thats the reason 2010s and 2020s so far do not have a characteristic sound. As for “substantial difference” - i agree to disagree. Yes, you see a serious difference in production quality and overall arrangement styles, but nothing in mainstream music space stands out as “really new”… incremental updates at best
@uldrs Жыл бұрын
@@LordXsi This might be a music elitist take but I think mainstream music for the most part has always been incremental. A lot of the stuff that we'd consider "bleeding edge" or "new" is extremely niche and only found by people who are into that genre, and then gradually expand when someone makes it more popular. It's only then when we have the foresight to go back and realise "yeah this movements been brewing for a while". An obvious example of this, I think, is Nevermind by Nirvana. The album released to no real publicity and middling reviews and stayed like that for a loooong while before people realised "wait that album was actually straight up genre-defining". Another (possibly bad one) is Dubstep. Although I hate Skrillex with a passion for destroying the sound of dubstep forever, a lot of this sound was relatively underground only destined for small clubs and raves until he made it popular and then everyone wanted a piece, and now Skrillex is seen as the grandfather of dubstep. What was a joke genre was quickly made into a relatively short-lived, but aggressive movement. Sorry for making this so long btw lol

It's still insane that there's almost no repeat tracks in this game. Not only that but I can't think of one I didn't at least like .

That's because all the level themes were repeated instead of the actual songs.

I used to only listen to dubstep when I as younger and when 4-1 came on, something from my childhood and soul awakened inside me and I was headbanging like a madman. Had ZERO business hitting THAT hard. And that second beat drop literally made me go insane in my room. Beautiful

SONIC 4!!!! for the last 6 days I've been wracking my brain on trying to fins out where one of the background pieces in these tracks was from, I was certain it was a sample from a menu selection in a previous game and like the little blue blur running into frame, it suddenly hit me. Sonic 4 episodes 1 and 2 have this acknolwedgment sound when you select an option, and it's sampled in a few of these songs!!! there must be LOADS of other bits of the sonic bites theyve sampled and I love it! You hear it most in 4-2
