From what I know, the Windmill Isle "Apotos" phase of Sonic Unleashed was inspired by the Greek buildings and monuments. (Because Sonic Unleashed takes place on Planet Earth, which has references to several cities and continents) But it may also have been a light inspiration in the Sonic Rush Water Palace (2005). Both have buildings and Greek buildings

Now this is one of the game's levels you knew Dimsp actually TRIED on. Yeah, the giant Flapper needs to be waited on at the end, but aside from that, this was definetly one of those levels that had some thought and care into it. It had some interesting gimmicks, split paths, and was a water level that didn't want to make me rip my hair out. Telling that this is the only level based on a game made by Dimps and, unlike Tropical Resort, not based off a console level. The game does get better later.

I like how in certain remade levels Sonic gets special moves that were used in the level’s original game, like how Classic Sonic can home attack here (normally he doesn’t), or how in the Sonic Colors stage where Sonic can use the Wisps just like in that game. It makes the levels feel more unique and closer to their original counterparts.

I wish the Generations 3DS did more of representing the handhelds. This level is great and I also like that Tropical Resort is based on Colors DS but it only done in the modern era. I think the classic era should have been comprised of the Gear Games (If you wanted to, you could even keep Green Hill Zone since it's in the Game Gear version of Sonic 1), the "Dreamcast" Era should have been the Advance Trilogy, and keep the Modern Era the same except add a Rush Adventure level. I think this game overall should've moreso celebrated Sonic's Handheld Legacy.

This is the best "original" (in other words, not one of the classic levels that the game stole) for Classic Sonic. Heck, it's also the best Modern Sonic level in this game. They put more effort into this zone than the rest of the game for some reason.
