Due to a number of circumstances, I opted to not include this as a week-early Patreon upload, specifically so that I could hopefully game the algorithm in hopes that people will check the description and, if able to, donate to help the victims of Hurricane Helene & Milton in the description of the video.

I mean, yeah, but...okay, I was gonna say 3DS was last gen and isn't that old as a result, even if 13 is a double digit number, but then I remembered the 360 is considered retro since it first launched in 2005, a mere 6 years before the 3DS launched, and I'm only 35 and I shouldn't feel that much older than that.

Small correction, Ian helped with the writing of Frontiers but he was given the plot points, characters and so on. So he didn’t exactly write the script like some believe. He was just allowed to put in all together. However the dialogue between characters and the parts where Sonic stops to make a comment is I believe all him though. Besides that good video, I remember playing this a lot as a kid and speed running the first modern Sonic stage. I’m glad we got it in general considering Biolizards and big arms theme (this one especially) remix’s are great

i really loved the 3ds version but dint yet played the home console version.

With the remaster out in a couple of days and the Digital Deluxe Edition out now, now is the best time to give the home console version a shot(so long as you have the money for it, anyway).

The console version is really fun, but the 2011 version is better because they made the physics and controls for classic sonic kinda weird in the new remake.

@Summit8351 While I disagree, I DID notice something was a bit off with Classic Sonic. Though, to me, at least, it didn't seem to be a big game changer compared to how easily momentum was lost in Forces.

@@ThisIsCSDX The things I noticed about classic sonic are that he seems to gain momentum a bit slower than he used to and he can't un-curl after a spindash. (nevermind, I was just remembering wrong, he plays like he used to but something else feels off and I can't describe it)

Sonic Generations (3DS) > Sonic Generations (Console). Why? Because the 3DS version focused more on the *2D/2.5D* gameplay (my preferred style) and also I didn't like how "overgrown" the 2D Sonic levels looked on the console version. That's just my opinion. Sorry if you disagree.

Wall of text incoming 0:44 You will be surprised to know that the self-deprecation phase actually kinda help prevented the franchise from sinking in reputation when the games weren't on good condition. I remember when they made a short video of using the widely-mocked Sonic Forces line of Knuckles about war as a beat drop for one of Frontiers' Cyberspace tracks, and lot of responses were acting like the social media team were always mocking the franchise, as if the several posts before and after that were not numerous trailers, merch promotions or light-hearted, non-self-deprecating joke posts. 5:41 Counter-argument to that: Act 1 is based on the DS version due to the Red Burst Wisp and some of the stage gimmicks that were only in that version. Counter-argument to my counter-argument: Act 2 is based on the Wii version, apparently. Counter-counter-counter argument: The Silver Rival Battle taking place there might be a callback to him challenging Sonic on the DS version for a Time Attack (albeit in Sweet Mountain). 6:16 I always considered this as the 4th Sonic Rush game because it feels like it has a similar gameplay. Plus, that would make the entire Rush quadrilogy have their own gimmicks in each game. Rush 1 has Blaze as 2nd playable character, Rush Adventure has the exploration, Colors DS has the Wisps and Generations 3DS has Classic Sonic. 7:29 Well, hey. I'm glad I was a fan of Hololive as a whole before Korone became an ambassador because, holy crap. If I only knew of her because she became a Sonic ambassador, the ONLY thing I will learn about her (without looking her up) is that she is someone you use to insult Arin. Barely anyone in the fandom wants to talk anything about her except that, and maybe the one time someone clipped her getting the lowest rank with a zero score in Terminal Velocity Act 1 and people were like "how did this person became the ambassador" in a negative sense.

Damn right! It's my favorite game of all time. I even completed it & The Lost Age when they came to NSO. At some point I'll also replay Dark Dawn and hope to God there ends up being a 4th entry.

the sonic generations i grew up with and took me years to beat the time eater. i was really little at that time i can do it with an A rank now.

There's one other big complaint is that Classic Sonic's level layouts from the classic and modern era are ripped directly from their original games, which feels like they had a rushed development. It's most notable that this means the last Classic Sonic level is the first level of another game. They add a firework section to add some difficulty, but that essentially makes an easy level with a quick tough section. Fun Fact: This was originally going to be for PlaySation Portable. There was a also plans for a DS version, but its unknown how similar that was because we have no images (but I think it would have been more like the Rush games). I assume they moved it to 3DS because both the DS and Portable's shelf lives were coming to an end, and Sonic always sold better on Nintendo than Sony

That's something I would've liked to see. It being on the PSP, that is. It definitely would've been more enjoyable than the Riders games(I'm not that big on them cause of a rough experience with Mario Kart 7 so racing games as a whole aren't as fun for me now).

I can both answer and not answer why they replaced the Classic Eggman line. This is what Classic Eggman said in the original Japanese version. Now as for why this is the one line they decided to base on the original instead of the localized console version.....dunno

I %100 the game, all S Ranks in main story and extra missions, and my opinion is that Sonic Generations 3DS is a D+ rank game. Forgettable, Short, Repetitive, but ultimately a fun play through ONCE.

I personally don't think it's forgettable, I'll always go back to play that game
