Growing up, I was a Nintendo kid. I've had Nintendo consoles and games when I was little. But I've never had a true favorite series until I've been introduced to Sonic. I remember one of my first being Sonic Adventure for the GameCube. Since I've played that game, I've been immediately hooked on the series. Yeah, I still have hope for Sonic (Even Boom with Fire and Ice being delayed to be worked on further), It's been one main series title since Generations and people are saying Sonic is dying again, but really it was one unorthodox game like Lost world (Which was decent), 3D Lost World (Bull crap), Sonic Boom RoL: Sadly dull and Bareboned and the one game that no one looks at when they yell at how shitty Sonic Boom is, the actually decent thing to come out Shattered Crystal: With the better plot and gameplay as a whole So when they showed off that the sequel was based off of Shattered Crystal, I can have hope that they will build upon what they did right with that game.

It pisses me off greatly they didn't stick with the 3DS Generations being based more on Sonic's Handheld games, apart from Water Palace that is. It likely would've went Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic Triple Trouble, Sonic Advance 1, 2 and 3, and Sonic Rush, Rush Adventure and either Colors 3DS or one of the Rivals games. While I think Sonic's portion of the first Sonic Adventure is closer to a "true" Sonic game in 3D, I still think this is the best 3D Sonic to date. None of the game is out of place, the game isn't broken, the level design is great and has multiple pathways, it doesn't try to take itself too seriously, etc. All things I want out of a Sonic game. The *ONLY* thing I do hate in this game is the awful Time Eater Boss. However, I do wish they would have been more diverse in the level selection. I understand they used a poll from fans to pick the levels, but having 4 different city levels was too much. I wish they used more unique levels such as having SA2's be Final Rush, Sonic 2's be Wing Fortress, S3&K's be Lava Reef, etc. But that's just a personal preference. Or maybe have returning themes but all new levels instead of just remaking old stages. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they just rehashed levels from past games in this game or that them remaking existing levels are bad [they didn't and the levels are great]. What I mean is is that, for example, with SA1, instead of just remaking Speed Highway, I would have loved to see them take the Egg Carrier and make a completely new level with that, featuring both some parts we saw in SA1 as well as all new segments of the place. Don't have it be entirely based on Sky Deck, but also feature segments of the hub world from SA1 to the interior of the Egg Carrier, hot shelter, etc. Or with SA2, make up an all new level set in the Space Colony ARK

They finally polished and updated to a more consistent model for Sonic in Sonic Unleashed and they've been using that in the games ever since.

They still changed the model after Generations, though. In Lost World, Sonic has a slightly bigger body and shorter quills. In Runners, they made the legs and quills shorter, resembling more like his classic design. I guess it's a sort of a tradition for Sonic Team.

2:13 OBJECTION!!! No...wait.... CORRECTION!! The 3DS version doesn't just have one level dedicated to the portable games. The Tropical Resort stage in the 3DS game was based on the DS version of Sonic Colors not the Console version. I know because of the Level design and the way the wisps were used(and that the red burst wisp is in it.). And when comparing the levels of the DS game to it's console counterpart.

Well the fact stands that a lot of the 3D Sonic games are awful. Sonic Boom, Sonic 06, Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic and the Scared Rings, and now if you take off the nostalgia glasses, the Sonic adventure games are ok but pretty mediocre. Oh yeah, and the tragedy that was Shadow the Hedgehog. Basically, a few good 3D games doesn't make up for the 3D Sonic genre usually being mediocre to bad.

Then their answer to only needing to do that for the next decade is fucking over a good thing and going with half-baked, unpolished gimmick mechanics again and severely screwing over an alternative dev team.

Am I the only one who doesn't like Classic Sonic in Generations? Don't get me wrong, I love the older games on Genesis, but that's why i hate Classic Sonic's gameplay in Generations. You can't gain momentum by holding down while rolling down a hill, he feels very sluggish but stiff in Generations, etc.

Everyone say that Sonic Generations is the best 3D/2D Sonic game. Well it is a GREAT GAME, and I like it a lot but if you're not playing the side quests and basically doing the story levels, the game is pretty short. Seriously, I only beat it in 2 days. But I did about 30% of the side quests including the boss side quests and I don't know where I'm going with this. But in my opinion, the best 3D sonic game that I liked the most was Sonic Unleashed. I even like the Werehog levels.

Honestly, Generations and Colors have been the only 3D Sonic Games I personally enjoyed unironically. Sonic '06 is in the "so bad it's good" category, and while I see why people enjoyed Unleashed, it wasn't my favorite. As for the Adventure games... I generally judge the game based on the overall experience, so they both sucked. I'll admit some of the Sonic Stages and Pumpkin Hill from Adventure 2 were good (With City Escape being one of my favorite intro levels to any Sonic game), though overall after factoring in everything else, the game sucked. And as for my thoughts on the original Adventure... pure trash. The only redeeming qualities are the genuinely interesting Villain (Chaos) and the creation of the biggest joke in gaming history, Big the Cat.

This has to be my favorite Sonic title. Everything from the level select screen to the levels themselves to the music to the collection room to the insane amount of references and Easter Eggs (especially in the city levels)...everything was just done right, which is hard to say for modern Sonic games.

This was such a great game. They did a great job of taking all the best things from both styles of game. one of my favorites in the series (Sonic 3 & Knuckles still my #1). Great video, lots of good tidbits.
