@@bowserbarre8462 *3, the head level designer worked on sonic lost world and the other two haven't done anything, the only thing that's somewhat of true is the Sonic Colours developer, and that's about it, still a lie, but not a big fat lie, to be fair SEGA said 2014 is going to be "the year of sonic", and sonic boom didn't even try, and again at the time SEGA said that they're going to be giving sonic team more time which was not true, don't believe anything that SEGA says, trust only Sonic Team.

@@blackdot105 Hedgehog Engine has everything to do with gameplay though? Engines aren’t just distinguished by their visual capabilities. Hedgehog Engine 2 was built off of 1, and the engine itself was originally built off the Havok engine. Literally anything Generations was capable of can be Done by forces assuming the features and code can be implemented. Hedgehog Engine was never just about the graphics, it was build to both handle rendering quickly due to high speeds as well as be able to be flexible when coding the gameplay styles the games were going for. Basically, aside from Colors and Boom, all the games from unleashed On have used some variation of the hedgehog engine, but the differences hinder the capabilities of porting things from one game to another, especially since some things rely on features not present in others.

@@slyp5409dude, no. The hedgehog Engine and HE2 are graphical/lighting and rendering engines, not game engines. Neither of them have anything to do with physics. Unleashed and Generations were made in the Havok physics engine (same as ‘06) The Wii couldn’t run the Havok engine (or the HE, but that’s unrelated), so they had to recreate the gameplay from scratch in the PhysX engine (same as the storybook games). When they started work on Lost World, it was made from taking their work for Colors in PhysX and porting it up to Havok. Lost World is built off of Colors, not Generations. The game was already in development before Generations was even finished. Basically when they’d made Forces, they just kinda mangled Lost World by trying to turn it back into Colors from memory (they’re weirdly opposed to using the work of programmers that aren’t on the team anymore, that’s why we’re in this whole messy chain) When they started work on Frontiers, they tried to continue the Colors > Lost World > Forces chain, but in early testing it was clear that Forces physics were too restricting, so they started over from scratch with a brand new physics engine.

Wow, in the 3D sections Forces Sonic actually feels fast here, wow. Crazy what effect simply having interesting level design can have. 2D sections still feel slow as crap though, those definitely must have some super harsh speed cap on them in Forces because they really stand out like a sore thumb, so slow.

Now looking back on Sky Sanctuary has made me realize how amazing Generations was and what peak level design looks like, it also shows me how bad Forces level design really was. Surprisingly, the physics engine used for Forces works very well for Sky Sanctuary in particular.

Green Hill needs refinement but I like what they’re going with so far. Honestly I think it would be extremely interesting if they created a version of this level with the tag team gameplay in mind. Imagine if you could use different Whispine abilities to reach areas in the level that otherwise wouldn’t be accessible.

The lighting isn't really all that good though, it only really works with darker areas. Also the boost is definitely not that fast even in the 3d sections, it doesn't even give off the remote illusion of going fast at all.

@@staticg-065 even if it's the HE2 just look at Sky Sanctuary, that level was properly adjusted to the HE2 global lightning system which was not the case with Green Hill and the other ones, it's almost like the person who ported the levels just imported them on Forces, put some items, enemies and gimmicks and call it a day (and no, Sky Sanctuary wasn't imported by the same person, if I'm not mistaken it's a mod made by InfiniteForce)

The speed of the Boost, it's like not only did Sega decide to half-ass the game, but Sonic's deciding to half-ass his way through it! Seriously though, I couldn't tell at times whether you were boosting or not, it's so slow. I wonder if there was a reason Sega decided to do that. The only thing that I can think of is that little bit of vertical height you get when air-boosting, maybe it was hard to control or hard to anticipate where it would send you at Generations-level speed, so they had to decide on whether to cut it or slow Sonic down so you could control the air-boost better?

The speed isn't the issue, the scaling is. Generations is faster than Unleashed but slower than Forces when scaled the exact same as each other, but these mods scale it so sonic is really small, and the reason why is for it to look identical in screenshots to the games the stages came from, as Sonic Forces has a really zoomed out camera, so he appears slower...

All of these stages look great, except Crisis City maybe because Sonic Forces didn't have lava in it's gamefiles, or the developer didn't add the fire effects from sunset heights into crisis city. Green Hill Act 2 and Sky Sanctuary i'd say look way better than their Generations counterpart.

Forces is better than Generations in some aspects, at least for me... (I know that nobody will agree but these are noticable details) Explain: it's been 4 years since I last played Generations, and i bought it again last week. *Colors* all characters their colors are half saturated, everything looks half dark and lifeless kinda... (But this isn't so important) *Boost Momentum killer* Generations' air boost is a Momentum killer, you HAVE TO use it near the ground or your going to lose all your momentum completely... In Forces it does not kill your momentum and it's fun, #flyingsonicsincecollors (Same goes to air dash 😫 ugh) *Lost World engine vs Generations Engine* i remember that Sonic had a beautiful and progressive running cycle, but what I didn't remember is that Sonic was sloooow and heavy! It's like: you can turn better than in Forces but still heavy, Sonic has the drift, but what for? He can wall grind when the turns aren't automatizated. (Speed Highway) *Classic Sonic* well... How to explain... Have you noticed that doing parkour/platforming in Sonic 2006 is easier than in SA2? SA2 is perfect, that's why you can control yourself to the next platform. In 2006, when ur falling you can go the speed you want and just rotate your Analog to fall in the correct place. Ok, with that said... Classic Sonic in Generations is uncontrollable some times, do some platforming is hard, ur always too fast or too slow... Classic Sonic in Forces makes platforming easier, you can just stop in the air and fall where you want, it's 87% precise, (but Generations handles classic momentum much better) Even with this... I still love both games with equality

In every single video that Forces shows up, people just insult the terrible parts. It's not a terrible game, in fact it's pretty fun in its own right (imo) it's just different and the only style that really fits with it from previous games is Unwiished, maybe Sonic 1 and 2, as they share the same assets and speed cap. Stop the Forces hate. It's not unleashed, we get it, but it's getting a little much now.

Yeah. There's a few refinements missing due to this being some basic level ports (missing effects, some areas interiors being too dark or bright, pop in) but the basic lighting does a lot of heavy lifting to make these levels look really pretty.

So, basically. Forces has better lighting if used properly like the Sky Sanctuary one. But holy shit both the camera and the controls looked so stiff. Sonic looks like he controls like a tank. If someone can like, change values in the physics and tamper with the controls, i think we could start making a good forces gameplay to look at.

The only way Sonic Forces could control better than it does right now is if it got a remake to play like Generations or Unleashed, which is probably something nobody wants to be remade.

ewwwww. Ok I have a theory. The level designers probalby made some insane levels but while testing them they probably realized sonic can't turn properly and hit speed is slow in 2D so they made everything straight line

Yup generations boost is so close fast to unleashed boost(becouse the both made by the same engine) but forces boost is little bit faster than colors boost but Still slow the both are slow I mean isn't the boost formula created to make sonic speed unlimeted generations & unleashed understand this generations have the best level design platforming challanging are awesome very fast boost close to unleashed also Muiltible ways have also quike stips platforms and many make the modern stages the best unleashed have the fastest boost level design quike step with boosting throw enimies that actually attacks you with more challanging which make the day time stages amazing colors have very good platformer challanging very good wisp but very bad 2d sections and very slow boost the slowest boost sonic forces bad challanging too easy boosting all the time no enimies very very bad 2d sections and bad platforming

It seems like Sonic is hard to control when he's either boosting or at a high speed, but if he isn't, then he controls fine. I may be wrong, and that's not how Sonic's supposed to be if I'm right.

forces sonic at any speed is ass to control in terms of maneuverability. (the same goes for most of the of her boost games as well. some kind of limitation of the boost engine or w/e) im fairly certain terminal is using the better physics/controls mod

Even with a generations mod there's still so much automation and he can stay on the stage with our debug sonic forces just is bad it's unsaleable
