i think the rewritten dialogue is leagues better than the OG, bcs theres alot of character cutscenes where modern sonic just doesnt talk, and its so awkward to sit there and watch him bumble about doing NOTHING, it feels more organic with him acc talking back

Actually, correction about the Drop Dash, equipping the Super Sonic skill also gives you the Drop Dash for Classic Sonic, so that’s a nice bonus

The writing changes is for more accurate characterization for frontiers. The original wasn’t winning awards but the characterization improvements are welcome for me

2:32 THIS is an area where I feel like modern Sonic's drop dash is useful, a linear stretch of terrain where you don't have boost, drop dash can act as sort of a "mini boost" if you will. Albeit these are sort of isolated incidents, like this level and Seaside Hill, other than that I agree it's mostly useless with this formula.

I didn't like that they made the lives system a toggle. Not only is it toggled on by default, but they do a poor job explaining to you how you can toggle it off in the settings menu. Only way you'd know about it, is if you spent 10 - 20 minutes looking for a toggle or get told by someone else where it is. Make a casual and traditional mode. Easy fix.

So the only way you would know to do this is by looking in the settings or by being told by another person. How would anyone have in any idea to look in the settings menu. -_- They would've been better off making a easy mode and a normal mode. Disclaiming easy mode has infiinite lives.

Why the changes are there: Drop dash is for more movement. The script is changed so the story makes more sense Rouges change is because backthen parents didn’t care but now they whine about any game nowadays And the reason it got a remaster is because. ITS ABSOLUTELY BROKEN ON XBOX ONES PORT

I by principle absolutely hate the way they handled this damn remaster. It hurts preservation so much & legit makes my fav sonic experience in the entire series worse. From the dialogue/bio changes, to the censorship, & they even changed some of the music u can collect & play in the levels. They didn't add but straight up removed songs to open slots for others & that's so fuckin stupid idk Y they felt the need to do that. Al the changes R horrible too(aside from the shadow 1 u mentioned) & it's jus wholly unethical. I don't think this should be legally allowed for a remaster of a game at all. Remaster should only improve/add things to the experience while also makin it more available to the modern day. It shouldn't ever be changed no matter wut it is. This series is a damn monkeys paw curse to a T. Get a colors remaster it doesn't change content(aside from aspects of sonic's model) but it does come out barely improved in any way & actually is more broken & buggy than the og experience which was 1 of the most polished experiences in the franchise. Get a Gens remaster it's only slightly more buggy than before but is still a top polished sonic experience however much of the content is unnecessarily altered or removed(like sonic 1 on genesis) hurtin preservation & u don't even have an option to change it back. & all the changes R ass. I hate this series man...

They should've left the OG script as is. Yeah it's not winning any rewards, but it didn't NEED rewrites. This is pretty much tarnishing something that should be preserved.

I agree the rewritten diouologe doesn't even change much and some of the voices of the characters sound weird. Who rewrites diouologe to a game remaster? All lot of people say Sonic Generations has no story I don't think that's a bad thing since it's an anniversary game and if it did have a story Graff Pontaff would of ruined it anyways.

@@MalcomeXnox Funny thing, og generations can be purchased with a sonic bundle of other sonic games you may not have. So people claiming theyre scrubbing the original are kind nuts. It's not like other remasters/remakes where they remove the original completely and pretend it didnt happen.

And tbh there is no reason I’d return to orginal sonic generations outside of the mods. I wish we had an option to include both the orginal script and rewrite but it’s not the end of the world

These changes are so unnecessary or straight up terrible. I especially hate the Precedent this sets for future remasters allowing SEGA to rewrite history as they see fit. It’s not a big deal to most fans NOW because it’s just Generations but when it’s Unleashed or SA2 getting rewritten let’s see if they change their tune.

They won't. Gens was mostly known to have the most basic story , only to serve the gameplay. If they did unleashed or the adventure games either they need to give ian full freedom or not change at all

Take notice of what the rest of the Industry is doing and how that causes trends among these corporate entities. Once they start they won’t stop, Gens is just the first story on the Chopping Block.

I'll be real, I genuinely feel sorry for Ian Flynn and the voice cast. To me, it just seems like he wanted to create a good story, but was limited to the short length of Generations, so his work couldn't properly shine through. And the voice cast was just out of it bro, I feel bad. Really, this was not necessary at all, but because people kept calling Generations story trash, they felt the need to change it. Like my guy @Chillin-jg8vg said, that's not a bad thing. Generations never tried to have a story. But a lot of fans love games like Unleashed and Adventure 2 so much, they can't stand it when another Sonic game doesn't try to create one of their favourite aspects. So they lambast any game that does that. This is another case of SEGA learning the wrong lessons from the wrong people. Thankfully, this is a much smaller scale. The Shadow part is them learning the _right_ lessons from the right people. I sincerely apologise to Ian Flynn, the voice cast, and Sonic Team. You guys were harassed by Sonic fans who didn't understand what the game is, and only saw it for what it didn't do in comparison to their favourites. On behalf of the Sonic fanbase, I'm terribly sorry. 🙏
