The amount of improvement this game has seen since its first public release is insane. The camera movement, Sonic’s moment, the stage’s visuals, literally everything. This is what Sonic games should feel like tbh

Despite how tiny Sonic is in this game it’s crazy how readable everything is with the color contrast of the stage. Fantastic work

ill be honest I couldve made the level way smaller in plenty of spaces but I oversized it to give myself enough room to work with the camera. the new camera tech in the game is still pretty underdeveloped and has caveats that I had to work around with for this stage until further refinement later on

I truly wish the next Open-Zone Sonic game, boost or not, will have this kind of flow. This is truly impressive, it reminds me of the old "Project Hero" framework.

I want to build levels for your engine so badly... Everything about this speaks to me so hard. 3D Sonic as a platformer/racing hybrid. Steering and controlling him matters. His moves being tools of acceleration and momentum (the homing attack especially is so nice.) The use erticality and open space to create playgrounds and different routes that continuously overlap and fall back onto each other. It's so good. You're incredible!

Believe me, I know what it's like to have an original plan not go the way you hoped. That's happened to me several times in almost every aspect of game design. I think it's really smart to stick with one core principle of a fangame and run with it, for you that is physics. But because of that, sometimes you have to drop other elements of a game that you believe were important like an open world. As long as you stick to that core principle of good physics and gameplay, I think Sonic Horizons will be just fine without a open world :). Wishing best of luck to you and your team.

After playing the demo--This is going to be an unpoppular opinion but I would absolutely buy this even if sonic wasn't in it. There could be a completely different character not sega or sonic related and I would buy this day one. Its really fun.

I must ask: do you have any plans at all to include controller button remapping at all? The default control scheme is fine, but... I'd prefer to have my own.

I don't know for controllers since conflicting actions are way harder to deal with on that than say keyboard remapping, best thing I can do (as of now atleast) is add more alternative controller mappings since I can swap out the input maps used, but I doubt I'll be able to get something like this implemented within this demo's timeframe because it's the holidays

@i_am_strix I see. That's fair, honestly. I personally don't mind if remapping isn't in any demos or anything, as long as it's just there at some point. Oh, also, I do have a bit of feedback regarding wallrunning's controls, if that's okay: I feel like there only needs to be one button used to latch onto walls. Would make it flow a bit smoother, and frees up a button for other things. But that's just my thoughts.

Tried launch "Sonic Horizons - Christmas 2024 Demo" in windows 7 but game program said i have problem "(0xc0000005)", decided to install "Sonic Horizons - SAGE 2022 Stage Remix" and launch it - at least he work. Soooo, what should I do? I need windows 10 to play Christmas Demo?

hey strix, i don't know if someone has come up to you with this issue, but I'm trying to play the project with a Google Stadia controller but it doesn't seem to be recognizing the controller. is there stadia controller support integrated or would you happen to have a solution to this issue?

@@sensagesan i forgot the stadia controller existed 😭 I would’ve assumed it would get recognized as an Xbox controller or something given it’s a Bluetooth device primarily, but I guess Unity doesn’t view it like that. I’m not doing patches anymore because I need to advance with development but best you can do is figure out a way to spoof the Stadia controller into being recognized as an Xbox device, maybe through Steam Input?

I was only curious as the Stadia controller has been the most convenient in regards to my experience with PC gaming ever since I found it at a thrift store for 5 dollars lol Been loving the progress videos I saw across Twitter and been meaning try it out. @mrmelonman2893 actually the open zone didn't really use sonic moveset in anything in the open zone till update 3 with the tower climbing cyberspace was left out and in that same update it felt like a normal sonic game in 3d in cyberspace if they were the focus we could've had a really good 3d sonic game
