This video showcases the new "Ultimate" tech demo for the Sonic Fangame, Sonic Illusion! This update added in Luminous forest and an Apotos mashup. There's also changes to previous stages, new abilities, and new character skins like Forces Sonic and Shadow!

I think the framework, like in the physics and the visual effects are great, it seems super fluid and sonic like. I think with improved levels this could be awesome

That 'Naked' Sonic skin though.. lol. Sonic handles abit rough until you start upgrading his stats. It's a pretty cool fangame but there are some massive bugs with the progression and saving. I couldn't get Super Sonic because the skill tree would just not work. I would upgrade, loose my rings and then nothing happens. Which is why I couldn't get Super Sonic. Once bugs like that are ironed out, it will be an awesome time upgrading Sonic and going through the levels again to find more rings.

I love the animations and camera work, some of that bounciness even translates to the UI and makes it feel a bit more lively.

Looks interesting enough it just needs WAY more work put into it. Tropical Resort out of all the levels looks the most convincing to me but the others just seem oddly "empty" I guess is a good way of putting it. Also no victory song when you hit the goal ring just seems wrong. Major positive point, this games Sunset Heights lasts longer than 30 seconds so there's that at least 🤣

The visual roller coaster aspect is better than anything I've seen , even dramatic hallways. I'm not sure if more could be done with the slope camera , but I want some. But it seemed claustrophobic in Apotos , kept slapping stuff and getting stuck. And Eggman's intercom still fades out in the Colors stage , isn't there a fix for that yet?

FINALLY someone who understands the importance of automatic camera angles and automation in 3D Sonic. All the way since Robo Blast 2, nearly every 3D Sonic game has controlled more like 3D Mario or 3D Zelda and it feels awful to try to manage Sonic and the camera at the same time. Because of the open areas and more controlled and deliberate movement, the full camera control and entirely player-defined movement of most 3D platformer games is fine. But 3D Sonic, so long as it has modern 3D controls and not tank controls, is so twitchy and has such high acceleration that you NEED a set camera and splines and speed boosters in order to make Sonic manageable to control. Obviously games like Forces go way too far in that department and make the game play itself a lot of the time, but that's the exception, while Unleashed, Colors, Generations, and Frontiers' Cyber Space are the rule.

i think the physics and animation are pretty solid just use any stage but forces. they're empty and were only created with boost and maybe quick stepping in mind otherwise this was pretty solid

One graphics,animation huge step up so are the controls still feel a little to bouncy to me and get uncontrolable sometimes still amazing I'll keep tabs on the game this new technology demo just got me back into fangame after fallen star it's just I haven't seen any interesting modern sonic games in a while still love the 2D ones like fallen star and triple trouble 16 bit but every since heros turned into into a ova game (not saying I'm not interested into it anymore or hate it) I can see some flaws but great job with the mod kinda reminds be of sonic horizons that momentum game from the last sage it has lighting issues of course and audio issues but what a year still waiting for that sweet spin dash

@@kaosagamerreal look at the lack of effort in frontiers jump and homing attack, Sonic is literally just a blue ball with some glow. SA2 you could see sonic actually curled up, it just adds a nice touch and would have looked much better

Don't want to be a party pooper here, yet what is the point of this project in comparison to others? I think the main reason that dev making great practice (the UI is actually animated like wow), then he can use it for different and maybe commercial projects - yet I do not understand often why people making such frameworks and then just leaving them. If dev does not want to make a proper game, than as a result there must be some team that will pick up after time - like infinity engine / ouroboros with Omens, or bumper engine that was used in GT. Yet, for this time it still needs polish and work.

The game play is solid but the following feels off. Sunset heights ending feels unfinished. What no one wants to see is the edge of the map as well as the maps theme suddenly cutting off. Its just jarring Aero garden feels like a bit of missed potential. It has a weird identity in the sense it has none. Although with the right set pieces you could easily make it into babylon garden (sonic riders) Its unfair to judge apotos mashup given its stated its unfinished
