I don't see anything mario-related in this game, like cmon you have functional brains to give constructive criticism instead of "its a mario clone". Although the game is slow, the new wisps are cool, the enemy designs kinda ruined the realisticness in sonic enemies, but whatever.

@@bluemike1215 The worlds in lost hex are straight up ripped from the new super mario bros games in design, the level design is similar in it’s design and shape too Super Mario Galaxy’s level design (just with more speed), Sonic’s parkour system might as well just be Mario’s jumping controls, and Zavok, the leader of the deadly six, is basically just a rip-off of Bowser. It’s a Mario Clone dude. The fact that you can’t see the similarities really says more about you than it does about the game.

I personally love this game and I admit I'm definitely blinded to its flaws because of my nostalgia for it, but thats just how I feel. It means a lot to me and it has a few cool aspects

While I wouldn’t call it amazing, I still love a lot of what this game has to offer. The gameplay can be pretty fun when you master the Controls, The visuals are pretty great despite being based on Generic Themes, I even like the Story as it’s just Goofy fun to me. The Music especially never fails to make me feel good or bring me back to when I was 7, playing this game for the first time on my Wii U. Lost World is such an Under appreciated gem that’ll always have a special place in my Heart.

The community isn't very consistent anyways. People use "Mario clone with bad writing bad" as argument instead of looking at the game itself...yet ironically those exact same people will defend Colors against the flak it got in recent times for legitimate gamedesign issues, despite that also being a mario clone with bad writing.

Its a real shame, because the game isn't that bad actually. It's one of the more polished Sonic titles and plays just fine all things considered. The thing I actually don't like about this game is what it did to the franchise going forward. Boom, Forces, Recolor, Superstars, (and to a lesser extent) Fronters and Shadow Gens, all suffered in quality and direction due to the lack luster reception of Lost World. Also A LOT of devs who worked on Unleashed through 2011Gens quit to go work for Nintendo after Lost World, so that was a much bigger kick in the gut to Sonic games going forward.

This is a message for the ones that think this is a SMG rip-off: Let me tell you that Sonic did this FIRST! In both 2D and 3D. In 2D, Sonic 1 had circles where you could run over in Scrap Brain Act 2. And in 3D(in SA2 btw), there were anti-gravity segments in some Sonic level I can't remember and in a level called Mad Space. Something that I'd like to add for more context is that, yes, I'm talking about the spherical and cylindrical planetoids in 3D. Even Sonic Xtreme was about to implement it, but it was cancelled. You can say is a Mario rip-off for the theming and the power up list, but for the level design style you can't because of the reasons I mentioned. The thing is that due to SMG's success, all of that points to Mario. Even thought Sonic did it first. Now I ask: Do you guys still think Lost World is a SMG rip-off?

12:06 well...bruh just give it a solid 7/10 and call it a day this game really is a 7/10 game and this game is just...really underrated and overhated if you ask m because the game isn't even that bad other then the story...cause that sucks... but the gameplay specially it's parkour mechanic was really good so yes i think it's a good game it might not be one of those big boys such as unleashed,colors,generation,frontiers etc... but it's still a good game on it's own plus this game helped sonic frontiers to have a good parkour aswell..

I played this game in one of my friends houses back in 2016 or 2017 and I enjoyed it back then, but the controls were kinda irritating to me even back then. I played the Wii U version by the way in which I rate it a 6/10, the 3DS version I rate a 5/10. The game had potential with its mechanics, but they didnt execute it very well enough. Sure the game is very fun but uh, its mechanic is just icky. The story was what made the game mid.

After suffering through SA1 (its camera is awful, don't deny it) and finally buying Lost World after realising, what Sonic fandom is... I actually really liked this game. So much, that I can call it as my favourite 3D Sonic game. Maybe it's because Im a big Mario fan, but this game is offering much more in basic gameplay, than other Sonic games do (no, I still haven't played Unleashed and Frontiers, hope to try them someday) with its diversed mechanics and different ways to play through a level (which adds to its replay ability). Here and there there are some flaws (like snowball level or dark sections from act 4 of Silent Forest) but in general it's really fun to play. The story... Yeah, its too simple (I guess, success of Colors (after all that Dark era of serious plots and bad gameplay mechanics) did affect SEGA to try this method once more). Can't blame it, at least we've got the best alpha giga chad Zavok, but on the ground floor it really was not so groundbreaking (which is normal for a game directed towards children and "normies" of Nintendo community). Music is a blessing from a god, can't say much (also soviet comedy music intensifies :D) Actually didn't get the point about "generic" zones (because there are many of those in other Sonic games, beloved by its fandom, like Heroes, Unleashed or Advance). F. ex. in SA1 there were such zones as "generic snowy zone" or "generic desert level", correct me, if I'm wrong (didnt play it since 2021, so could forget something). In the end, I'd give it a solid 8/10 (maybe even 8,5), its fun to jump into it here and there and enjoy a good amount of levels (as Desert zone act 1 or Frozen Factory act 1). I mean, at least it didn't get the same fate, as the other Sonic game released on Wii U...

Didn’t keep Wii U from floating alive though. Lost World is a game that goes against design philosophy and there are times I do not care for those characters that are intentionally one note. I rather have one-offs that make a difference instead of a walking one-note archetype to the nth degree. Desert levels should’ve been blended with desserts, and I’ve seen better level designs in other games than this.

My take on this game is that it shouldn’t have been a main series title. It’s too different and it’s a Nintendo console exclusive. Should’ve been treated as a side game like sonic boom. I think of Sonic colors this way to some extent as well.
