Honestly, why are people complaining about the future of the franchise? The only way Paramount is gonna make more is if the movies do well commercially and the fans love the films. I don’t see any reason for Paramount to stop making the movies. They’re very well made.

The way I see it is that if this franchise goes on, we have a main villain for every trilogy, in this trilogy we have Dr. Robotnik, and maybe the next trilogy will have Metal Sonic or Chaos. And since Pachacamac will be in the Knuckles Series, I hope we get some mention or even of flashback of his daughter Tikal.

One of the biggest problems is the plot revolving around the human characters instead of the Sonic characters. They need to lean into what made Sonic great before 2010 and focus primarily on that.

They could do a TV series or just have another trilogy of movies that takes place in an alternate universe. Personally, I would prefer them to continue the current Sonic Movie universe rather than leave it behind because I think there's still some cool stuff they could do.

If Jim Carry chooses to retire, I think the best route is to have a metal sonic post credit scene at the end of movie 3. And when movie 4 comes around it’s Sonic CD/Heroes based where Metal sonic and Amy appear and eventually Metal goes rogue and they have Eggman (maybe) make a sacrifice in the end to kinda reboot metal to before the metal overlord stuff, and then have Agent Stone kinda take his place. So agent Stone and metal are the villains. If Jim Carry can still play Eggman for a while I’d like movie 4 to be 06 based, with Silver, Blaze Mephiles and Elise.

I think they could do a 4th Sonic movie that plays out similar to Sonic Adventure 1, like have it where after the events of Sonic 3, a strange crystal thing gets ejected from the Space Ark & falls to Earth, once it lands it shatters, then it melts & turns out to be Chaos, then he becomes the 4th movie's villain, then it becomes a race against time to get the 7 chaos emeralds(which were scattered around the Earth after the events of Sonic 3) before Chaos collects them all & attemps to destroy the world.

For jim he was a big part of sonic 1, not just for the role but developement. He was (unfortunately) one of the ones responsible for the sonic design we all knew and hated cause he and the director wanted to take a realistic approach to his design. But the sonic movies are a passion project for him. I mean the dude came out of retirement just to be in sonic 3.

These are problems that I can see people having with the Sonic Movie 3. The whole entire Eggman is will not be the villain in Movie 3 is not a big problem but I can see why people are mad. The Knuckles TV Show mentions in the trailer that the villain work for Eggman so does that mean this takes place right after Movie 2. I for sure agree that they should not just end Movie 3 with nothing that will tease a Movie 4 because there are so many characters the Sonic Movie universe can add like Sliver, Vector, Charmy, and Espio or even Blaze. I can kinda see us getting Sonic Spin- offs after Movie 3 or they could do a Shadow spin- off for the events after Movie 3 but I don’t know. They could have the Sonic movie 3 cliffhanger be an appearence of Silver, (lots of fans have been wanting him to be noticed more) and have movie 4 be an adaption of Sonic 06 with the story plot being written better. Mephiles is an interesting villian and Shadow's personality was peak in that game, so that villain and that quality of personality being adapted into a Sonic 4 movie might make up for Eggman being missing from it if that happens. That scientist was the character who caused the nonsense of Sonic having to get a relationship with Princess Elise to happen in that game, and multiple fans were and still are 0% pleased that the titular hedgehog was spending soo much time with her.

Firstly, congrats on 500K SonicHub, well deserved and earned. Now to business... It's true. There are a lot of question marks and uncertainties with the future of Sonic movies. But It's just one of those, we'll cross that bridge when we cross it things. Let's just let the Sonic 3 movie play out before we all start to panic. I like to imagine Jim Carrey would want to stay around for future Sonic movie projects. Let's say there will be a Sonic movie 4 and 5, he stays for that and he finally lays the character to rest so in the meantime, someone else between movie 4 and 5 can take up the mantle. Like he he has a sucessor ready. Then it can go from there. If not, I'm sure the creators have something in mind for a potential villain. Metal Sonic comes to mind. Or they can craft a whole brand new villain to keep the movie sagas going. Who knows? There's a lot of ways it can go but we just won't know till we see movie 3 play out. But truly as mentioned, wherever this goes, it depends on Jim Carrey

Other Sonic Antagonists: Metal Sonic after Copying Robotics Biodata and going Neo Metal Sonic If Jim Carrey doesn't want to return. Black Doom and The Black Arms "Possible as soon as Sonic 4". The Deadly 6 "After recent IDW redemption". The Battle Bird Armada. "First for a Tails Spinoff". Blaze The Cat "During the initial Sonic Rush Adaptation". Captain Whiskers and the Robot Pirates for the Sonic Rush Adventure adaptation. The Babylon Rogues in their quest to revive Babylon Gardens. Silver The Hedgehog and Mephiles the Dark for the Sonic 06 and or Sonic Rivals 2 adaptation. Eggman Nega, Likely Shorten to Nega again if Jim Carrey doesn't want to return. Introduce a bunch of Characters in the Adaptation of Sonic Battle mixed with Sonic The Fighters. On that note The Hooligans as recurring hired help. I coud keep going even before we concider Original Movie Villains.

I wouldn't put Blaze and Silver on that list because they are going to turn into protagonists anyways like Knuckles and Shadow. There's also Metal Sonic 3.0 for Nega and Captain Metal (IDW character). So yes, they got lots of options.

The IDW Movie tie in comics prove that this franchise can go outside the bounds of Live Action Hybrid Animation (along with confirming the existence of Team Chaotix), so I think there are definitely options for diverse production types after movie 3. I think an eggman-less universe would be a very interesting route for this franchise to go down, especially given that it's never been done before. Rewire stuff. Reframe stuff. Imagine a story where our known protagonists have to face off against Blaze of the Sol dimension (or the Sol planet), her dedication to her kingom and her duty making her a direct antagonist. Imagine a lighthearted show featuring the Chaotix, or a more noir themed Team Dark show. After a period of smaller projects to continue the hype whilst giving the OG trilogy time to breathe, imagine a Sonic 4 featuring Silver as a rival, make it the climactic explosive reality-melting endpoint. Think of it like the Avengers films that take the characters and stories built up in other media and condense them into a beautiful white hot melting pot that pays off everything.

Its highly interesting pondering about the future of the Sonic Movie franchise. Even myself, I've really wondered, where can they go from Knuckles and Sonic 3. I would like to believe for starters that, once Sonic 3 comes out, they might wanna take a short-term hiatus in order to regroup and focus on what's the next step for the series. Whether they outline a new trilogy or full-blown tv series. And I do hope they will, not that I don't want more Sonic movies, I do. But, I don't want this franchise to get overspent with quantity over quality. My dream scenario would be them following with a Shadow project, either limited series or movie, then a Sonic Heroes miniseries, and the next trilogy to be influenced on '06. Another factor to count in, is Jeff Fowler going to direct all of it? Don't get me wrong, I've adored so much the great work Jeff has currently done with the first two movies, and leading charge with the production of Knuckles, but I'm not sure if he might want to direct all of it. Maybe after a possible Shadow movie, he takes a Kevin Feige approach, becoming the main producer of the franchise to guide on the next steps to take. Time will sure tell, but I know that we're in for a ride with the Sonic Movie franchise!

I am sure the Knuckles show and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 will be extremely successful so they will for sure do a 4th movie and more. To be honest they dont really need Dr Eggman as you can introduce other villains that draw inspiration from him like what they are doing in the Knuckles Show. A Sonic 2006 movie where Silver The Hedgehog and Mephils are the main villains could carry a full movie as well as a Sonic Heroes plot with a Metal Sonic villan arc so there are some options for future Sonic movies.

At first I didn't think this would work as a movie, but a forth movie called "Sonic Heroes" would actually work really well after the trilogy, as a way to be able to include a plethora of animal characters and be able to juggle them all sorta like in an Avengers movie vs a threat such as Metal Sonic or something else) 2. Considering that Agent Stone is obsessed with Dr Eggman, he could kinda fill in his role through depression where “eating his pain” causes him to become round and his obsession could develop into copying his behavioural patterns. For the movies, I think the 4th should feature Metal Sonic, the 5th should feature Chaos and the 6th should feature Mephiles. If there are plans for 7,8 and 9, I hope they feature Dark Gia, Infinite and Sage. This may not be the best ideas, but it’s the best I got and I’m open to hearing anyone else’s thoughts and ideas or even opinions.

Jim has been going through some confusing stuff during the development of the third movie. It honestly doesn't the same without him returning to the Sonic movies. I think that might be the biggest problem while making the movie. I really hope they do something. I don't know if there will be just three Sonic movies, but it would be good and bad at the same time, because sometimes you can't just end something like that, so there is a possible that they make more Sonic movies. This is a huge problem. I think this is going to be the last movie. Video idea. 100%ing sonic mania Plus, but it's a nuzlock. It does seem like a huge and long video to record, but I have an idea. You do 2 streams. The 1st stream, you finish the main campaign with the most chaos emeralds. The 2nd stream, you collect every emerald and you unlock all 32 blue sphere stages.

I didn't think about of any cliffhanger after Movie 3 but you got a good point. Maybe the story is really big so they make an "Infinity War/End Game" Marvel Move and split it. So we could get a 4th Movie which also would include Jim as Robotnik. But I am also clueless what they could do after Movie 3 (if it has no cliffhanger or similar). They could do a full animated Movie or series like the Mario Movie did. And it would work fine. Their playground wouldn't be earth anymore and maybe they return to their homeplanet Mobius like in the Games (even that we never got a good or logical explanation why they are not on the human world again, except we take Sonic X as truly canon). In Sonic X, Dr. Eggman mentioned when they arrived on earth via the Chaos Control incident he mentioned that this was the planet he got born. The whole Sonic story can be a confusing mess.

Honestly, I hope they breal out more obscure villains like Scourge, Mephiles, or even Chaos. Sonic has lots of villains; Dr. Eggman just happens to be his biggest. I also like the idea of them always living in the shadow of Dr. Eggman with rogue robots or Metal Sonic. If you dig beneath the surface, there's tons of possibilities with Sonic's story in the future

If they had to choose a new villain, they could pick from the Sonic lore and make a bigger deal out of smaller villains such as the Great Battle Kukku, Mephiles the Dark, Neo Metal Sonic (who would need Metal Sonic introduced first), or even Dr. Eggman Nega.

i have this thought that eventually after 3. knuckles, sonic, and tails will return to planet mobius but before that the master emerald will split into the 7 chaos emeralds and be spread throughout the universe (i havent decided if i think it'll split because of some brawl or because sonic and knuckles want it harder to find. i lean towards the first since knuckles goal is to protect the master emerald and would want it in one piece to be more easily watched). one of which shadow will get his hands on for one reason or another. once there, whether it be after gaining all the chaos emeralds and turning it into the master emerald once again or something else, they'll rename the green loop-de-loop filled zone on mobius we all know and love "green hills"

Honestly, with how much lore and world building we have these days, they could pull from that before even considering any original storylines or characters. I honestly think the next big villain they should build up towards should be Chaos. They could also pull from the comics. In short, there is enough storyline they can adapt if needed.

In that case, I love both of Sonic movies 1 and 2. I’m so looking forward to see the 3rd Sonic movie real soon. I also enjoyed all 3 seasons of Sonic Prime on Netflix, it was exactly the best!

I don't want it to go on forever and stagnate like the MCU. But I do want to see more of this version of the world. If Jim Carrey does retire after movie 3 though, I'd say give an out for his leave by having him suffer something that'll alter his voice and body into something different. That way you can keep Eggman as he was for the trilogy and have an easy excuse to recast him for future projects if you want.

this may be a ridiculous idea but what if they "revive" gerald robotnik and make him the new eggman assuming he will be present in sonic 3, hes obviously the creator of shadow, and maria is already confirmed to be in the movie so he most likely will be in it as well. i know he is actually a pretty good dude but after they took maria away from him he went insane and he wanted to destroy the world, they could do some time travel shenanigans to bring him back as a evil possessed version of himself, and they could base him a more modern sonic like version of eggman with the iconic suit and round body of course

If they want to solve the Jim Carrey problem, they could have him retire from evil and create his Eggman planet theme park and when he decided to go the animatronic route of telling his ‘heroic tale’ it leads to the creation of Metal Sonic who hates being a spectacle and chooses to surpass the original with it becoming an obsession like in the games and having him become Neo Metal Sonic to take over as the new main antagonist, adapting both Sonic Colors and Sonic Heroes in the process. I figured they would try something like that first before deciding to bring in the Black Arms into the series.

I think adding more sonic movies feels a bit too much in my opinion (before any sonic fans get pressed about this let me explain) the reason sonic 3 should end off with a good note its best to end the story before things get too oversaturated with Jim carry done after the 3rd film what else they can do? Aside from the rumored shadow spin off film in such so maybe they can do an animated series a sonic show doubt it but I'm keeping low expectations

Danny DeVito as Eggman. Also, I'm surprised they didn't do Sonic Adventure 1 first with chaos before this film. Would they do that in the Knuckles series? Probably not. Are they going to have another series that's a prequel? Probably not. Would they create their own narrative where it happens after Sonic Adventure 2 for some reason? Probably not. With that being said, if they wanted to keep the franchise going, I don't see why they went that route first. Also, Sonic CD with Metal Sonic. There's a lot they can do, maybe they're going to do all the narratives but in their own order in the cinematic universe. After all, the movie universe is separate from the other various universes of the other various Sonic series.

I had a fun idea of where the Sonic movie universe could go: After Sonic 3, Metal Sonic could survive and hide so he can get stronger and defeat Sonic. He would also create clones of himself to gather data from Sonic and his friends. First, he’d test his capabilities by conquering Little Planet. Sonic and Tails would then meet Amy, who is trying to help Cream save her mother from Metal Sonic. That Metal Sonic would be defeated, but the real Metal would be hidden. (Sonic CD and Advanced 2) Knuckles would go off on his own and assemble the Chaotix in order to stop Chaos, who’d be manipulated by another Echidna and another version of Metal Sonic (Knuckles Chaotix and SA1). This Metal Sonic would get data on the Chaotix and Chaos Afterwards, the new Team Sonic and Team Chaotix would meet up and Sonic would decide to bring them to Earth for fun. However, the Black Arms follow them and Shadow, presumed to be dead, wakes up, teams up with Rouge and Omega, and helps the other characters stop Black Doom (Shadow 05 and Heroes). Another Metal Sonic clone would gather data on Shadow from the shadows. Meanwhile, in the Sol Kingdom, Blaze, Marine, and Silver have to stop Iblis (06 and Rush). They also get spied on by Metal Sonic from the shadows. With all the data, Metal Sonic reveals his presence and threatens to take over the universe. Everyone gathers to stop Metal Sonic, who now becomes Metal Overlord, ending the Sonic Movie Universe (06 and Heroes)
