Sonic Omens (Previously called Sonic 2020) is a Sonic Fangame made in the Infinity Engine. The game celebrates its 3rd Anniversary with a new update. Once the story is completed, the option to select Super Sonic in every stage is unlocked! There's also many improvements to the cutscenes, optimization, levels, bosses, mechanics and more.

It's nice to see an update for Omens, I think they implemented Super Sonic absolutely perfectly. The fact you're still able to get hit makes you play the level with some caution at least but you still feel overpowered. They definitely improved on alot of bugs, making more a much more streamlined experience and the Final Boss and Maria are way better and more fair overall. I get some comments asking me to play Omens and some that don't, so either way I get some people angry. At the end of the day I just play what I enjoy. Still think this is a top 3 Sonic fangame as an overall package. I also think the whole situation is so overblown with Omens it's crazy lol. Anyways Enjoy the video! :)

Super Sonic take damage? Didn't know. Granted, I only played near the end of one level with it, so I didn't notice. Honestly a good change since, like you said, it's still OP, but doesn't take away nearly all challenge from a level.

I just love Shadow's running animation in this game! 😍 I think It's the best combination of speedy SA2B and modern fluid motion. Also Vector's "looks like you found the computer room after all" just cracked me up! 😂 Thanks for sharing the playthrough, it's beautiful and I really enjoyed it.

Looking back on it, I definitely enjoyed Omen's story a lot more than Frontiers. At least here interesting shit happened regardless of how cheesy it was (which I don't know why that's a problem when that was the norm for serious Sonic stories). Frontiers' plot was mostly setting up big answers only for said answers to be incredibly underwhelming. Sage was wasted as a character, Eggman's character became a lot worse, the End was the lamest villain in Sonic history. The only redeeming parts were Sonic's friends' development, but even then how well that is done depends on what those characters do going forward. Omens' story fully committed to how over the top it was. The references to past games actually mattered instead of being another box to check off in the dialogue department. Character banter was also great despite the voice acting, and handled Sonic and Eggman's dynamic a lot better. It actually shows us how Sonic feels about him for once. It had a decent villain and satisfying end to it, and ended up being all the more memorable. I wouldn't say it's an amazing story, but it's the kind of stuff I want to see in Sonic games going forward.

After launching a thinner Sonic Omens on 7 GB? After seeing much smoother and more enjoyable cutscenes? After a slightly modified/"polished" Dragoon E-Zero? After more detailed effects on levels with the same graphics settings? After polished wall running? After knowing that it will be possible to play as Super Sonic in other stages? After testing Shadow's enhanced abilities? After being blown away by the improved visuals (and a bit of gameplay) of the G.U.N. Arsenal? Vector's voice ?... yeah... I'm pretty sure they improved the games controls a bit. They made Sonic's movement a lot less sensitive and added some deadzone to the center so he isn't twitching like in Sonic Colors. I think this is close to the perfect boost sonic controls but maybe still on the loose/floaty side. Also I still can't get over how awful the plane's control is. The up and down are on the dpad. There are 3 unused face buttons and the only way to move up and down is on the f***ing dpad. And the highest sensitivity should be the default. The default sensitivity is so low that's why when you're playing the gnarl stage it looks so slow when you have to do that spin spection.

The plane section really should get a config in the menu at least. I played a ton of Roque Squadron when I was little so I really like flight games like that, but for most people I can see it being an issue. I remember Marius having issues due to it as well.

In fact, the previous two updates toned down the difficulty way too much. The gameplay freedom is just so nice compared to something like Generations or Colors. Unleashed does beat this though. The Maria thing was addressed and was blown WAY out of proportion. As in an outsourcee put that in the without the actual studio's knowledge. And there's been far worse in Sonic games and alt media that y'all never complained about. Even if Ouroboros did put that in there, you're a little late to be complaining about it, especially when you'd have to know about the drama or be the perv that looked through the files to find it to even know it was there, as it wasn't visible in-game.

My only real gripes about the game aren’t even for the gameplay or the animation at all. This knocks it out of the park and is done amazingly well. My only issues are rather with the voice actors of Sonic, Eggman, Tails, Rouge, and Shadow. None of their lines flow naturally and feel almost forced a lot of times. Hell, the VA for Eggman sounds like he’s fixing to go into a coughing fit. Shadow’s lines are good, but unfortunately just the way every word comes out just doesn’t exactly work and falls a little short. Tails just feels like the scratchiness tone is more prominent than the actual voice, and Rouge often speaks the way an AI would (speaking on behalf of pre-2019 Siri). Sonic’s lines himself are great. But the actor just keeps either messing up the tone or just doesn’t hit the right note for the text. His impersonations of Drummond and Griffith are almost battling each other and often ruins the line. The moments where all the VA’s do actually put their own spin on it without impersonating previous actors, all come off amazing and I wouldn’t be opposed to more of that. Other than that, and the way the characters eyes and mouth move at the beginning, I genuinely feel it’s actually a good for a sit down

The developers have added a hover effect (with sound) to the Chaos Spear (like in Sonic 06); added the ability to use the Spear on rails; also changed the aiming effect of the homing (making it noticeably prettier) so that it does not merge So Much with the aiming of the Chaos Spear; increased the consumption of Chaos Control (now it consumes noticeably faster energy); and put rhr Spear selected at the start of each stage, instead of Chaos Control. This is all I found. Yes, not that big list of changes for Shadow's abilities, but... let's be honest, there is little that needs to be changed. ))

We love Chris Thorndike very much. There are a lot of scenes with him in the anime that impressed us, especially the breakup scene with Sonic at the end of the second season. He is a good guy who seemed to have everything, but in fact had nothing but loneliness, until he met real friends from whom he learned a lot. He seems to us very undeservedly hated in the community. Well, it's impossible to use motives from Sonic X without mentioning Chris, he's the second main character there.
