I would actually label sonic and Nine as toxic: Sonic doesn't REALLY view Nine as anything other than 'slightly different Tails', and makes false assumptions about him and his goals, going as so far as to commit to a course of action that could result in Nine being erased from existence (restoring the Prism). Sonic throughout the show uses his friends and acts without thinking. The point of the show, I think, is to demonstrate the consequences thereof.

I agree with your point but don't be making Nine look like the victim here he wasn't clear to SONIC specifically about his goals and yes it was wrong for sonic to make assumptions but they both should've communicated better. And in season 2 there's clear growth with sonic and the rest of his new friends , even though they had the chance to back down the resistance decided to stay by sonics side and fight alongside with him same thing for the pirate crew and the rest of the gang in the bosscage shatter space ( forgot that gangs name) Nine had his own goals to rebuild grim for himself without thinking of the reprucutions ( spelt it wrong) that he could've of faced Luke now if you've seen the trailer he's breaking each and every shatter space one by one . Which is far worse than "assuming" that the characters would not exist anymore if the shards were placed back together in ghost greenhill. I'm not trying to shoot your opinion down in any way I'm just also trying to get my point across so there aren't any more deabtes on which character is superior .❤ ( Sonic and Nine would be labelled 100% in the toxic category though 😅)

I love Shadow and Sonic's dynamic here. Shadow being the more stoic and serious yin to Sonic's hyperactive yang makes them a great duo. They do still fight and argue, but it's simply because Sonic isn't listening to Shadow. He essentially is trusting Nine a complete stranger over Shadow, which has to hurt Shads at least a little bit. He warned Sonic about Nine, and Sonic didn't listen, thinking he was just a different version of Tails. But Shadow has always had incredible intuition and Sonic should've trusted that. Wonder how season 3 will open up. Will Shadow show his more compassionate side like he did when Sonic admitted his fault in the void, or will his rage and pain be too much and cause him to lash out which would be justified?

Yeah, their relationship is my favourite as well. I love the dynamic between the two of them. I love how Shadow is supposed to be the mature older brother and Sonic is the immature little brother. Yeah, gotta love these two working together. Sonic and Shadow do care deeply about each other. It’s just that, well, as we know it, Shadow doesn’t always know how to show it. But at least the hedgehogs aren’t afraid to help each other when necessary. And I love that about them. But I’ve always liked them hanging together

Even though they are at the bottom of the healthy tier, I personally think Sonic and Shadow’s relationship in Prime isn’t THAT healthy. I personally would’ve put them near the top or middle of the “needs some work” tier because they don’t see eye to eye on almost anything, they do fight a lot, both physically and verbally, and if the end of season two is anything to go by, Shadow is going to make Sonic feel even worse about Nine’s betrayal by essentially saying that he told him so about not being able to trust Nine. With that said, it’s still an improvement because Shadow was able to come to terms with that Sonic is the one who needs to get the shards, and they did work well together when fighting the Chaos Council in Ghost Hill.
