What Could Have Been: The show's third season was completely laid out and prepared, and then ABC cancelled it: The Freedom Fighters (now called "Freedom Builders") would have begun the process of rebuilding Mobotropolis, Rotor spearheading the transformation, and Sonic finding that Victory Is Boring. Unbeknown to them, Snively would be sneaking about Robotropolis, gathering intel on the Freedom Fighters and plotting to attack them outright. For a time, Snively is able to place himself in a position of power, proving himself as formidable a foe as Robotnik, if not more so. However, his time as head villain would prove short lived thanks to the efforts of the Freedom Fighters, and in a moment of desperation would free Naugus, Robotnik, and King Acorn from the void. Naugus immediately takes on the title of main villain, using the King as bait to lure Sally in, and making Snively nothing. Robotnik's nephew was slated to defect to the Freedom Fighters in retaliation, although he would secretly plan to betray them at some point, Antoine being the only one to notice - and ultimately stop - Snively's plans. The show apparently would have eventually confirmed, as some fans had already speculated, that Mobius was Earth All Along, with the story set millennia after a world-purging nuclear war that wiped out humans and caused animals to become sapient. Robotnik and Snively were to be the last humans alive and had been off-planet on a space colonization mission when the war struck. After betraying and killing the rest of their crew, they returned to Earth and, due to relativity, landed after the animals had already assumed control of the planet. Tails would have matured and played a much larger role as an official member of the Freedom Fighters, even showing a bit of a rebellious side and would save Knothole Village from a major disaster. Furthermore, his relationship with Sonic would have been closer to the games. Dulcy would have come into her full powers. All Ben Hurst said about that was, “You don’t want to see a dragon when she gets mad.” Sally would be romanced by someone other than Sonic, though in the end Sonic would eventually come out on top. Sonic would also undergo a major personality change. Nicole's backstory would be told, revealing that she was once a Mobian child that was brainwashed into a computer program by Robotnik. At some point NICOLE would be restored to her former self, becoming a part of the Freedom Fighters. At some point, Knothole would *"get crunched".* Knuckles was supposed to appear at the end of the season and was going to be more of a main character for an also never made fourth season.

I get the feeling that the tone in direction which "Forces" was aiming for wasn't what Sonic Team was used to handling. As I've said on other essays on SatAM, I don't think people can quite appreciate just how much of an impact this show had on me as a young teenager back in the early '90s. SatAM was THE seminal moment in my creative and fantasy life, full stop. It was the hardest (and still is) I've ever dived into a series and world, and is almost solely responsible for me becoming an artist and furry (I mean, make of that what you will, but it's still true). I just turned 41, and SatAM is still a beloved series for me, so deep in my subconscious at this point that it's pretty much a part of my zeitgeist. The comics were never really a good representation of the SatAM concept to begin with, the early issues were like AOSTH and then after that we got the Penders clusterfuck, then Flynn’s boring storylines, and then the fallout of the Penders clusterfuck. It’s a shame because the comics had a lot of potential with the concept of mixing SatAM with the games but were handled so poorly. Mostly thanks to Penders.

Okay, so, here's my idea for a demo/first mission of my hypothetical game. This game, which I simply call : Mobius: a World Beyond ( be wary, it's a long one) The game starts just before the Days of Fury (The one with the Xorda and the Gene Bombs) You begin as a Human who signed up for an Experimental Project involving confiscated Xorda technology to create super soldiers by merging Human DNA with those of an Animal. You are instructed to give your name, select gender, what Element(s) you wish to control. (Yes, there is an Element Matchup Mechanic in this game, and each with a exclusive ability tree.) Finally, you pick which animal you want to be. And trust me, the Character Customization in Mobius will make Forces look barebones. You can pick from all assortments of animals, from Mammals, to Avians(Birbs), to reptiles and amphibians, fish and other sea life, even insects and arachnids! (I was thinking if you pre-ordered the game, you can also pick Mobiosuar, Echidna, And Dragon as bonuses!) for this example, let's say you're playing as a Male, Flame and Normie Elemental Wolf named Gadget. After you make your selections, you are led by a group of scientists who place you in a capsule-like structure to begin the Biomerge. Just as the excruciating metamorphosis begins, the Xorda arrives, and begins to unleash the Gene Bombs on the planet. The shockwaves cause the building you're in to collapse, crushing the scientists beneath the rubble. The torturous transformation continues until you finally lose consciousness. There you stay, changing along with the ruined Earth, but you remain trapped in time, never waking, for thousands of years. In those thousands of years, a tyrant ruled the reborn world, challenged only by a group of Mobian rebels known as the Freedom Fighters. For almost nine years, the mad overlord, Dr.Ivo Robotnik, have been pestered by the Freedom Fighters time and time again, until he comes across an ancient log that tells of an incredibly powerful creatures that slumber undistubed since the time of Ancients. If Robotnik could obtain just one of these legendary creatures, not even the Freedom Fighters will stop him. The Freedom Fighters learn about this plan, and two of their best are off on a race against time to see who can secure the legendary being first. And that is where your story, your adventure in a world beyond, begins... The game begins in the Mobian Badlands, and two Mobians were watching Swatbots guard the entrance to strange ruins. The two Mobian Freedom Fighters, Sonic the Hedgehog(in Classic form) and Sally Acorn easily dispatches the robots. Once inside the ruins, the duo split up to find the creature's whereabouts.You take control of Sonic in a tutorial for movement controls and object interaction. Once you finish this (option to skippable) tutorial, Sonic meets up wit Sally to discover a room where the creature is in. Unfortunately, this was a trap set up by Robotnik himself to not just obtain the creature, but to also capture the two best Freedom Fighters! Sonic attempts to keep the Swatbots off Sally as she uses Nicole to hack into a control panel to try to awaken the creature. Robotnik has enough and fires a portable robotizizer at Sally, who Sonic shoves out the way so the beam hits a metal wall. The resulting explosion knocks the two Freedom Fighters unconscious, but Nicole has already finished hacking the controls. Three guesses who the Ancient creature actually is. (Note: In this game, I made three paths with an additional branch. You start out on the Freedom Fighters path 1 in your first playthrough, and as you progress through the story, new Save Files which will let you play as new custom characters for Neutral and Villain paths will open up, each with their own perks.) You finally start to wake up , but the Merger gives you one last painful boost to your changed body. In blind pain and desperation, you used that boost to completely obliterate Robotnik's Swatbots in a battle tutorial and send the dictator flying far from the ruins. Once you burn out that energy, you once again fall unconscious just as Sonic and Sally regain theirs. Sally is astonished by the carnage and wonders where the creature went. Sonic, however, finds it lying on the floor of the ruins, and is shocked by its appearance. The ruins, due to the massive outpouring of energy from the awakening, stats to collapse, and the Freedom Fighters, with the creature in tow, flees the ruins just in time. The duo decided that this mission was a success, and heads back to Knothole to learn more about their new "creature"... You wake up in a strange new place with a blue hedgehog-like creature next to your bedside. Naturally, you freak out, falling out of bed in the process. The hedgehog, who introduces himself as Sonic, attempts to help you up, but then you noticed that your hand was no longer a Human one. You notice a mirror nearby, and you stumble towards it, staring back at you is... (The Second part of Character Customization starts here. This time, whatever animal you picked in the first half will be the Mobian animal you are. You can pick Body type, eye shape and colors, fur color, you can make your own markings, stripes, pick different features, etc. you can also pick starting accessories. Like gloves, shoes, and for example, glasses. After getting a good look at your new form, your screams alert two other characters, Tails and Boomer/Rotor. The two Freedom Fighters are ecstatic that you're finally awake after taking you in two days ago, and when they find out you were once a Human from thousands of years ago, Boomer practically loses his mind in excitement. Before you could get acquainted with your new friends, a transmission from Antoine warns the Freedom Fighters of a powerful Badnik that is dangerously close to Knothole. Tails, Boomer/Rotor, and Sonic head out, but befre you can come along, Sonic tells you to stay in the HQ and try to get yourself situated. Meanwhile, The AI, Nicole, welcomes you and invites you on a Tu-Tour-ial of The Freedom Fighter Base. (Note: You can save either on the fly, or in your room) Once you finish in the main control room, a Transmission from Sonic tells you that the badnik is more of a handful than he thought. He doesn't want to do this, but he needs your help. He's battling the robot in Great Forest Clearing 1, and Nicole can help you gear up for the battle. Once you get your items, you make your way towards Great Forest. You try to get a better vantage point from a tall tree, and once you do, you get a grand scope of how big this game's world will be. You can spot mountain ranges, what appears to be a floating Island, and a grey city tarnishing the pristine world. Nicole explains that city wasn't always that way, it was a beautiful city once, using technology to coexist and enhance nature, that is, until Robotnik happened. An explosion in a nearby clearing alerts you to an ensuing battle, and you hurry over. Three out of four Freedom Fighters were out of commission, with only Sonic left to take on the large machine solo, but even he's not without his fair share of injuries. You distract the Badnik into targeting you instead, and the robot recognize you as the "Ancient Being." You and Sonic team up to battle the robot, but once the Badnik reaches half health, it swats you and Sonic aside, and the droid closes in on you. In desperation, you inexplicably attack the machine with a strange power, the power of your Element(s) this leads into a Tutorial Curbstomp battle on how to use your Elemental powers. The Badnik is defeated at the end, and Sonic commends your skill. He asks you if you want to be a Freedom Fighter, and since you have no knowledge of this new world, you guess it wouldn't hurt to team up with them for a while. You agree to be a Freedom Fighter, and Sonic is happy you're a member of the team. Now, what's your first mission as a new official Freedom Fighter? Help Sonic carry Antoine, Boomer/Rotor, and Tails' unconscious bodies back to base. Once you get back to Freedom Fighter HQ, you meet Sally Acorn after returning from gathering medicinal berries. You're given an Exposition Dump about the Freedom Fighters and Robotnik, and you let Sally know you're going to give it your all to fuel the fight for freedom! Thus ends Mobius Mission # 0, prologue. (The first Mobius Arc will span the first 50 issues of the comic series some issues that were just filler will be replaced with missions based on certain Sonic SatAM episodes. Let me know what you think about this!)

I guess in Sonic Adventure 2,Sonic Heroes,Shadow the Hedgehog (2005),Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) it was explained that Shadow the Hedgehog might be the first Mobian non-Xorda experiment created by Gerald Robotnik somewhere in the 1950's at Space Colony Ark invanded by G.U.N soldiers who killed Modern Ivo Robotnik's/Eggman's grandpa who also killed his granddaughter Maria Robotnik. It's hard to expletely and precisely say if creators of Shadow professor Gerald Robotnik and Black Doom have something in common with Xorda Alien race(Archie Sonic Comics) that their bodies were dissected by Julian Robotnik's,Snively Robotnik's ancestors from the past (it was in XXI century-nowadays) I know that Hope Kintobor she was involved in it. Currently since 1993 Sonic cannon started to get little bit too messy and too chaotic to these days since 2017 after release of Sonic Forces and Sonic IDW Comics including mobile Sonic Dash Forces mobile series and more.

Who me? Well Sega(19 years have passed since Sega Dreamcast support cancellation) stopped doing video game consoles back when they quitted their hardware business for good probably forever,but I have no worries just life goes on(live and learn I guess especially speaking of Sega and Sonic Team mistakes(even if Sonic current games aren't that great after 2001 that ended up with very chaotic and messed up cannonical storytelling including lack of spin-offs after Sega Dreamcast era and Sega Game Gear era such as for instance Sonic Shuffle and Sonic Drift currently since 2008(Sonic mobile games series such as Sonic Unleashed mobile,Sonic Jump,Sonic Dash series,Sonic Runners,Sonic Olympic games-modern casual mobile gaming even if they have modern Arcade machines only in Japan region locked exclusives)they focused not only on third party(they have no more Sega Enterprises,Sega Technical Institute just Sega Atlus,Sega Sammy and Sega Hardlight instead-it's no longer the same old company that used to know in the past) created in 1940 during the World War 2 rather just brand new company(pure capitalistic darwinism that only the stronger ones only survive especially old console wars from the 90's that companies for instance like Sega,Panasonic,Atari didn't survive in the 90's and after the 90's of 20th century when 21st century had begun(no longer as first party developers) Sonic games in 2002-2004 just in early 2000's so to speak) life is not easy we have to work hard and struggle to achieve something literally anything from our lives) legends such as Sonic-like games from the 90's never dies they live forever in our minds permamently. Fangame project lore storyline telling of yours just sounds interesting anyway.

I really love SatAM. Not just for inspiring Archie, but it really was committed to what it wanted to be. And even if Mike Pollock is my favorite Eggman, Jim Cummings is still the voice I hear in comics. It also has Sonic's most impressive voice cast. Jaleel White, Kath Soucie, Jim Cummings, Charlie Adler, Rob Paulsen, and that's not even everyone. Rest in peace, Ben Hurst. You will be missed.

Crossover time! Consider the following dimensional cross fusion - * *Sonic SatAM / Fleetway STC / Archie SatAM retconned back into original show* - original story * *Megaman original series* - an obvious crossover that CAN work, having LOADS of potential... * *The Raccoons* - when compared to SatAM and Sonic Underground combined, there are similarities (except Lisa coreesponds to Amy Rose) * *The World of David the Gnome* - links to Wizards as a fanstsy / mythology deal; likes to Sonic due to "Nature being the true protagonist" as stated in the second season's intro sequence * *Wizards (Ralph Bakshi animated movie)* - *another* consequence of the event that rid Earth / Mobius of humanity *Dungeons and Dragons animated series season 4* - included with "Wizards" *My Little Pony 1st Gen (Sunbow prod. / Marvel Prod. )* - part of "Dungeons and Dragons" More development will come when I think of something...

Tails was going to get a larger role as Sonic was going to train him in S3, according to late writer Ben Hurst. It was all storyboarded out, but of course got scrapped when the show was canceled for Power Rangers. I actually liked how they showed Tails as the 10-year-old kid he actually was, rather than some super-competent inventor and child prodigy par excellance.

Yeah. This is as good as Sonic and Robotnik ever got. You mention Robotnik being able to build a robot army with ease. Not only that, but he actually imprisons small, helpless animals inside deadly robots, presumably using them as components of those robots against their will; even in the games themselves. When you think about it, that's some pretty horrific stuff. It's as bad as the Borg. You've gotta be really twisted to do stuff like that, and it just feels wrong for someone whose actions are that twisted, to be essentially a joke character, to say nothing of how much less impressive it makes Sonic's victories over him, even in the games themselves. In this cartoon, Robotnik could still sometimes be played for laughs, but he was also legitimately menacing, to the point where his horrifying roboticizing practices actually seemed to fit with his character type, and every small victory against him felt significant and hard-earned. It was the best possible way to go with the character. That said, if they wanted to make him *primarily* a goofy character, they could have done that convincingly by just removing the animal-imprisoning element entirely, which is what "Adventures" and the recent movie did, and that does still solve some of the problems I've always had with the depiction of the character in the games.
@Idazmi74 жыл бұрын
"Ooh-hooo! Good one! You are catching _fire_ Thomas. Speaking of heat, I see you've taken a lover. Does she have a name, or should we call her *collateral damage?!"* - Ivo Robotnik. Sounds like something he'd say in SatAM. Jim Carrey's Robotnik is - despite his goofy quirks - still quite menacing due to how unrelentingly *_insane_* he is. It's incredibly easy to see how a man like him could get to the point where he decides that taking away free will by turning everyone into robots is a *_good_* idea. That, and he can actually do damage instead of being a totally ineffectual joke villain.
@mytruepower24 жыл бұрын
@@Idazmi7 Yes. I think you're right. I can picture SatAM Robotnik saying something like that. He'd say it more slowly, and with a deeper tone of voice, but it could really work that way. It's very different from the way he is in the games. SatAM will probably always be my favorite, but I love that movie too.
@Idazmi74 жыл бұрын
@@mytruepower2 _"(...) It's very different from the way he is in the games. (..)"_ Is it _really,_ though? E-102 Gamma proves that Robotnik is still imprisoning sapient creatures in Sonic Adventure. Like you said, you've gotta be really twisted to intentionally use helpless, intelligent creatures as living batteries to power combat robots that kill and/or Roboticize their own friends and family (that's how it works in the games). It *is* as bad as the Borg. Robotnik is sick, and that sickness is what makes him scary and dangerous. That danger is what makes heroes like Sonic necessary. If you don't give Robotnik that dangerous edge, Sonic isn't a hero: he's just beating up on the mentally disabled for no reason.
@mytruepower24 жыл бұрын
@@Idazmi7 Gamma could have had a good plotline. So many things lined up so well. The only element that just did not work was their depiction of Robotnik himself. Again, I think the animal-imprisoning thing *works quite well* if Robotnik himself seems evil and cruel enough to be capable of it, and Sonic Adventure Robotnik just doesn't seem that way. Waving his arms and shouting that his robots are "dummies, dummies, dummies," for instance... It this scary in any sense? I think not. Everything else you said, about how helpful the animal-imprisoning is at setting a threatening mood, I do agree with. But that mood is killed if the man behind the curtain, so to speak, seems more like a clown than a threat (again, Jim Carrey as Robotnik *does* still seem threatening, so I think roboticizing could world for him in a future movie, but it's different in the games.) When I said I had a problem with game-Robotnik, this is what I meant. His actions and his depiction in the game feel at odds with each other. One evokes the worst kind of evildoer, and the other is a joke character. It would be like if Dedede from the Kirby games pulled off a Mortal Kombat fatality. It's just not so believable.
@mytruepower24 жыл бұрын
@@Idazmi7 On a related note, this is also one of my problems with Sega's use of the word "Eggman," to describe him (except in the movie.) It's used by Sonic as a means of poking fun at Robotnik's shape. So why would he adopt this mocking name as a title for himself? (In Sonic Adventure 2 onward.) Isn't that kind of like introducing yourself as "Lieutenant Lamebrain?" If he respects himself so little, how can I believe he really wants to hurt people or take over anything? Now, I said this wasn't a problem in the movie, and I mean it. In the movie, the name "Eggman" is a reference to his egg-shaped drones, so rather than being a dig at his appearance, it refers to the nature and source of his power. It makes far more sense that he would adopt this title in the movie continuity, because it's literally a description of what makes him powerful.

One game I think that had the idea of a world in chaos and did it correctly was believe it or not Sonic Unleashed. I know what you are thinking "But Robotnik didn't take over the world" Are you sure? To me it seems he did. Let's see. He lured Sonic into a trap. Amplified the negative energies of the Chaos Emeralds turning Sonic into a Dark Gaia like version of himself (however Sonic's good will still allows him to maintain control despite his transformation), ejects him into space where falls to the planet's surface, fires a laser that rips the planet apart, has his own lair that you go through as a symbol of his conquest and the planet is now swarming with Dark Gaia Minions as well as his robotic servants. I felt the stakes were higher in Unleashed and even though Robotnik wasn't the final boss I still consider him the main antagonist as he was the one that released Dark Gaia in the first place. The only reason Dark Gaia hit Robotnik is because he wasn't able to control the dark god anymore in it's complete state where as he had some limited control over the minions as they are often siding with his Egg Fighter model Badniks. And this was also considered the first solo 3-D Sonic game where Sonic was on his own. And I mean in the gameplay sense. He's the only playable character. Sure he has allies but he's the one doing all the work and taking down Robotnik's operations in Unleashed and undoing his handywork.

As for why the characters were so well done, they were treated as humans. Only occasionally did you see their cartoonish qualities, otherwise it was the Soviet Union at its peak vs a small rebellion.
