Sonic Superstars kinda sucks

I actually managed to post a video and didn't need to wait 7 months
I'm officially going to start grinding YT so I hope some of you guys join me on this journey

I think the Soundrack for this game, besides the "Genisis Simulation" Songs, is actually pretty good. Press Factory is probably the only song that I'd point out as pretty good within the selection of those songs that attempt to mimic the Genisis' sound. Mainly because It fits with the industrial theme of the stage. My favorite song in the Game would be either Sand Sanctuary, or Lagoon City Act 1 or 2.

The story in summary: Eggman hears about the Northstar Island and that it contains great power (absolutely nothing more), so he hires Fang to investigate everything about the Island, the latter arrives, he finds out that there are chubby animals and a native guardian, so I don't know if through manipulation or blackmail they make Trip guide them throughout the island, Eggman begins to investigate ruins and finds a mural of a giant dragon, so he decides to look for it/wake it up (spoiler: he didn't succeeds, at least not on purpose, as far as we know). Then follow the official oneshot manga of Sonic Superstars. In this story Sonic and Tails are traveling because they found out about the existence of giant fauna on the island, so they decide to explore, they meet Trip, she runs away as a Peanuts character, Fang begins to capture the animals and Sonic and Tails face off against Eggman's death egg robot, defeating it with an emerald with new abilities due to the energy that emanates from the island. After this, the two friends do air patrols on the island, which catches the attention of Amy and the Master Emerald (Knuckles goes simply because the emerald tells him to), here the story within the game just begins.

TL;DR - I know most of you don't have the attention span to read allat. The level design isn't bad, it's just different. It's because of your expectations of just "more og sonic" that you don't like it. While that's not a good way to form opinions, I don't blame ya. The marketing made it seem that way, and Gens and Mania just cemented it. In conclusion, it was sort of false advertising, so don't put to much expectations. Also, Jun's tracks are fire, you can't tell me otherwise. Stop hating on him, let him cook, and let him improve. I believe he can be as good as Tee Lopes. Or just GIVE HIM HIS DAMN GUITAR SEGA, LET HIM COOK. Y'all have GOT to stop complaining about the level design, and then using that to say the game as a whole sucks. You have to understand that this game is not like the others. It's made by a different team, and has a different art style. It's like Sonic Advance, 4, and Rush. They are 2D games, but they are not like the classic trilogy. I'm not saying you must like those games, you're allowed to have any opinion on games. But, it's not the games fault you don't like it. It's just not for you. The level design isn't a criticism, long bosses are. The music isn't a criticism, the bare bones online mode is. The special stages aren't a criticism, the lack of opportunities for the emerald powers are. Maybe it's because of the marketing. Mania was made simply to recreate the classic games, and was marketed as classic. So when they got near identical level design, people liked it, as it was exactly what they expected - similar level design to the original. But with Superstars, while it still does fall under the "classic" category, it is still very different. And since people expected near identical level design to mania and the originals, people were upset to see it wasn't. That's okay, but it's _not_ okay to say that the game is trash simply because it's different. Then again, maybe it's the marketing that put those expectation there. Or it would be like that no matter what, thanks to Gens and Mania.

Well said, and there's people who complain even "Mania" isn't "classic" enough, or "too classic/nostalgia pandering." So no matter what people will complain. Sonic fans all have their own overly high expectations for the series.

Unpopular opinion, but I loved the game personally. My only gripes are the final bosses take too long, some of the DLC should of been unlockables instead, (though I guess they had to charge for DLC to pay for the Lego license) and most of the custom battle mode robot pieces cost way too much, considering one playthrough of the whole game can only net you only around 100 or so tokens if you don't farm the bonus stages constantly. So unlocking everything takes too long. Also, it's hard to find people to play online sometimes. Other then that, the physics, and music seem fine to me, so I don't get the hate.

4:45 I think it's fine having pits and spikes. You didn't even mention enemy placement, but that's different too. The whole point is learning the levels. Reacting to upcoming hazards is a boost thing, not a classic thing. 8:50 So... Do you think you should be able to choose any point you want to lock onto? Limitations are good. You have to both think ahead and work on the fly. 9:27 This is just a modern Sega thing, not really a Superstars thing. 10:52 Water prevents crush deaths, so it's useful for more than Lagoon City. 12:25 People know to hit the blue missiles because of Sonic Mania. And even before then, Mania got the idea from Sonic Before The Sequel.

Ik this game received a lot of praise, even I was looking forward to it, I even bought it a launch but i genuinely didn’t like it either I think it was because many big Sonic tubers said it feels just like the classics which did have my hopes high for the game but this game just feels so lackluster that I just dropped the game because it was fun to play, hopefully one day I do finish the game some day but it’s definitely not going to happen anytime soon

I was looking forward to it too. I’m a newer Sonic fan and I’m not that good at any of them but I’ve preferred the classic over the modern. I got to level 9 but I got stuck in the boss. I got through the first phase with super Sonic once and it canceled my super and I couldn’t beat it. I haven’t played since about 2 weeks after launch

WHAT GLITCHES BRO I keep seeing these things about how the game is so broken. I have 30 hours on the game and have only seen 3. That's one glitch per 10 HOURS. Should there be glitches in the first place on release? Absolutely not. Does a few make it absolutely broken? HELL no. Please someone show me these glitches in a normal playthrough.

I hardly encountered any glitches compared to most of the 3D games. I remember in Sonic Adventure DX I once fell through the newspaper stand in the Station Square hub area and died for no reason.

The Emerald Powers were the biggest bait of the whole game. Unlike Wonder Effects they're common and expected. The clones army is useless just works for a free hit to a boss. The "universe switch" was done better in Crash 4 with the cyan mask

@@user-mq8mo9zi4q 2 and 3 are leagues bellow the rest. 2 has awful enemy placement and 3 has obnoxiously long and forgettable levels, with all the good parts being in the first two zones and the later parts of Sonic & Knuckles, a problem made even worse in Mania. 1, CD. and the 8-bit games are the only great classic games.

I’m gonna be real. I feel like people overexaggerate on Sonic Superstars. Like.. yes, their are some parts of the game that suck but to me, they don’t feel like things that take away from the experience. And hell, some of the critiques that are in Superstars I can point to OTHER Sonic games to. The levels feeling gimmicky- Sonic 1 and Sonic CD have ya beat. And Superstars doesn’t have a level that’s NEARLY as bad as Labyrinth Zone or Wacky Workbench. The bosses making you wait so you can hit em- ..literally every Classic Sonic boss does this shit. Only they suffer different problems. To where as Superstars’ bosses move too slow, the old bosses can give you something from bullshit difficult to “a fucking baby can beat this.”. I’m not saying that the Classic games bad, far from it. And hell i’d say 3 and Knuckles STILL has Superstars beat by a long shot. But bringing up things that have been problems throughout the entire series and making it EXCLUSIVE to Superstars just seems extremely weird. (Especially knowing that this is the same fanbase that likes to shit on new games for the most minuscule things). (The OST is fucking weird though, I’ll agree on that, what was that Sonic 4 ass shit?)

Ngl I love Superstars The bosses are pretty mid tho If you want to make bosses harder without making in unfair, give the bosses more HP and make the player gain the Blue Chaos Emerald to atleast make it somewhat easier Most Classic Sonic bosses have 8 HP, instead give the Superstars bosses like 16-20 HP and make sure the bosses can't be hit only for less than 5 seconds, and when the boss can't be hit it should be because of an attack
