Some tricks for the mouse part: The enemies move at the same exact pattern - either clockwise or counter-clockwise, around the same exact square. (Think of it as if each enemy is "guarding" a specific square.) They don't move randomly like the ghosts in Pac-Man. Observe their pattern before heading up to the next "square". You can revolve clockwise/counter-clockwise too while avoiding them and observing their pattern - you just can't go back the direction you came from. Exit is on the 2nd pipe. You can revolve around the 1st and 2nd pipes while avoiding the enemies.

The mouse maze bit is disgusting. It gives you no chance to react and forces you to lose all progress in the maze if you get hit. Totally cheap and unfair. All this coming right after the Fang boss, which is also super long, cheap and unfair, and then immediately follows the robot boss, which also suffers from the same issue. I had to put the game down at this point. There is nothing so cheap and broken in any other classic Sonic game.

Yeah the mouse section took unnecessarily long for me. It ended up affecting how much time i had for the damn robot boss. I couldn't take it after dying to the bottomless pits for the 10th time.

That whole stretch from the Fang boss to this impossible boss fight has almost made me give up on the game. I was having fun until this ridiculous difficulty spike 2/3 of the way into the game

I agree, I felt forced to use the chaos emerald powers in order to cheese it because of how many times I would barely miss on my attack normally. Chaos powers feel like a huge safety net in some of these boss fights
