Heck, even the weird time turning thing at the end of the normal story felt really out of left field. This game's story kinda felt like an afterthought.

Just played through and beaten this game… and let me tell you, the final boss of trip mode and the dimensional dragon are just plain unfair. The fang bot has an attack that, doesn’t matter the rings, oneshots you by pulling a cartoon bit where it slams you against the screen. And we now know another thing super sonic cannot survive: Black holes. You get caught and do not boost out; you die! Not to mention the precise aiming shots for the final blow is just downright finicky. Sweet mobius i had to replay him several times. Will leave out with this (if video doesn’t show it): when tails or knuckles passes by; if you catch up to them before their animation to disengage happens, you earn bonus rings in addition to what they drop.

the lore i was able to find about this dragon is that its linked to sonic 3 no am not lying in the japanase manual and i quote (Knuckle walks out of the altar, stunned. It’s not nearly as hard as Trip’s though, it took me 3-4 tries to beat it (It took around 50 minutes to do so but still). The fight is also way more merciful with the endless amount of rings that you can find if you really follow the gang and look around for rings, the black holes you can air dash out of, It’s easy to hit the blue meteors. The only hard part was the perfect parry but eventually when it’s close in it’s not that bad.

Strong disagree. It looks cool, but there is literally no build-up to it during the game. No foreshadowing or anything other than the prologue animation. Even then Eggman isn't even involved with this, and the prologue animation led me to believe he would use the dragon's power to conquer the world but nope. Eggman is just in his wacky machines and after beating them all he's just gone for good. Had nothing to do with this. And the dragon just randomly emerges from the sea for no reason. The fight is just a long ass rng fest where you are just hoping that the friends are bringing you rings before the dragon charges at you and makes you attack it. If friends decide to spawn at that moment they just despawn and you won't get the rings. Being unlucky like that multiple times just results in a loss out of your control. And the parry like timing of blocking the meteors is very weird and the timing was super unclear. Dying so far in to the fight was so annoying since it'll take you another over 10 minutes to get there... In my opinion this fight has a lot of room to improve. Consistent ring spawns would be a first improvement for sure. Currently I think this is one of the worst Super Sonic fights I've played. Won't be coming back to this one ever now that I'm done with it.

I might be dumb but how do You do the boulder attack thing at 7:45 ? Because It keeps failing for me for some reason. Also just gonna say it: This boss is badly designed. Hard? Sure, But not a Fun Hard. EDIT: I FINALLY DID IT!!! I think the issue is that You have to only lightly tap the "Dash" button for some reason. I heard someone say that elsewhere and when I tried it it worked! (either that or the game is just broken and I got Lucky). I will say it does suck how You don't unlock anything or get something on Your Save File to say that You did it (Although I have heard that the game DOES save that You beat it internally & You can unlock the Metal Sonic Robot Parts if You don't have them already) Would have been cool if You could unlock like a "Metal Super Sonic" & "Metal Super Trip" or something like that. Overall looking back on this Boss I'd say it's alright thematically speaking. But execution wise not so much (Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for all the bugs and the boulder attack). Also I feel like They missed an opportunity to use the Unused Egg Reverie Theme here and it would have been cool if You could play this in multiplayer (You know the feature the game is built around). Also why is Trip on the Last Story Save File You don't even get to play as Her here.

Okay, you know what this game’s throwback style with modern 3D graphics and story set ups remind me of, not The Sonic adventure games but a modern Kirby game like Kirby Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot. Think about it! Superstars has one principal story campaign, a reimagined harder version of the campaign playing as a new character and a secret true final boss that unlocks when you beat everything. The only thing that’s missing is a boss rush mode, but it’s still creepily the same set up. XD

By beating everything do you mean like 100% completion or just beating both the regular story mode and the trip story mode?

@@georgiepig5726 Beating every story and getting all the chaos emeralds in a single save file. Yes, in this classic styled Sonic game for the first time you can actually swap characters and keep all the emeralds in the same save file, so this makes 100%-ing and seeing everything as a character (especially as Trip in her hellishly more difficult story campaign, the poor cinnamon roll) a hell of a lot easier. One of the really positive good changes superstars did and I hope becomes the standard going forward in these modern “classic” games.
