In 2024, an explosion of StF play brought a new generation of players into the fore, and one of them would choose to do something nobody in the game had ever bothered to do before: compete exclusively as Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotonic, a character that you can only play if your opponent agrees to it.
This is the story of EIZL, STF's only Eggman main.

As a HUGE Sonic fan it's honestly incredible to see such a forgotten game by the general audience like Sonic the goddamn Fighters make a resurgence in popularity. This is super cool to see! I never thought a competitive scene for this game would form but I guess here we are! Very educational, well structured and just generally entertaining video, INCREDIBLE job to everyone involved! To be a competitive player requires so much hard work and dedication, it's honestly so admirable!! I might actually keep up with the game's competitive scene, this is just so interesting!! Honestly, I know nothing about this game, and have seen little of the video, but I do hope the game becomes popular enough to catch the attention of Sega. Having Sonic consistently be a 3D fighter and making Eggman a playable character in such a manner is wildly interesting to me and I hope the fans get a modern title with all the fan favorite characters.

I’m curious, what makes Honey uncontroversial, and why did they have her banned to begin with? Was she considered Broken too, or was it just a blanket ban on secret characters?

Honey was not playable in the original arcade release, and was added back into the Xbox version She's at the same power level as all other normal characters, I think she was just not allowed because until the Xbox arcade port she was completely unplayable She's uncontroversial probably because she just wasn't in the original game, but completed, it's basically just an extra character

It was just a blanket ban because ranked mode doesn't allow secret characters, and most early tournaments to my understanding mirrored the settings used in ranked mode. (Best of 5 rounds, no barrier regen etc.) Functionally she's basically a hybrid of Knuckles and Amy. Very good character, but not the best.

If this game gets a sequel then id love for eggman to get a homing laser drone attack similar to amy's projectiles that last just as long, ooh make it the firefly drones that shoot light beams. I think it would fit him very well and could combo well with his bomb rain attack :) Id also really love to see other neglected characters added like vector, charmie, mighty, that flying squirrel and gamma or omega... or both :)
