Sonic The Hedgehog 2: CD - Dev Footage (8/16/2024)

This is how far the game's got in the past 6 months now. Haven't worked on it for a while, last thing we did was implement Knuckles into the game, but he is still too unfinished to be showcased. Let me know what you think if you really want to, and yeah, I hope you like this so far.

Sonic 2 "CD" was going to be a real game back in 1992/93, but later Sega cancelled the enhanced port and moved the development to Sonic CD. Now with this we are having the game that never came to Sega Mega CD back then. Thanks a lot! 🎮 P.d: a real port for Sega CD would be epic if someone can port to it, just like the Sonic 1 remake for SCD

Great work animations look really smooth/fluent. The remix music sounds great (it sounds less high pitched without loosing what made the original sound good). One note of feedback though- sound effects particularly ring sound effects sound louder than usual.

So this is gonna be S2 Definitive edition, you know with the restored mechanic such as time travel and the map, oh and minibosses since this is gonna be a *massive* game I guess

For what there is at the moment. It looks pretty good, but in EHZ the background the smaller layers of the flowerbed don't seem to scroll accurately and are a bit too fast, compared to the hills above. The water glimmer lines just below the clouds and the rest of the island don't shift like the original game (in EHZ and the title screen) aren't there. But for what there is already, it looks pretty promising!

@@CLD21Studios The flowers can be adjusted, but not the water. I have to use some plugins to make it move in the first place, but if not I would have to shift the pixels manually and figure out how to make them scroll as well.

@@RobinNerdington Pine trees would be good for differentiating Ocean Wind from all the tropical levels. There are some coasts with pine trees, specifically in northern areas.

It looks very good! But I think platforms (on 3:19) are a bit too slow. Also moment on 4:33 is unfair in my opinion. You can't even see this electric floor. I think it would be better to add platform that will make you able to see this. But as I've said it looks very nice, good luck!

@@yoshymaker Since it's a final level, I think I could make it feel unfair a bit. Though Sonic 2 was like that too at times. And yeah, the platforms are a bit slow... but maybe I just like the build up of like "damn, I'm finally entering a lost level" or something like that.

dont use perspective object in the intro... use mode7 ex also why sonic worlds? its VERY outdated which is why its bloated hedgefusion is not only accurate, but also uses new versions of clickteam which has less bloated stuff

@@keniponezhh I'm not using anything other than Worlds. I am aware of how bloated it is. I am trying to fix it, and this is what I know best. This modified framework pretty much started when I worked on Sonic Advance 3 Remake almost two years ago.
