Yeah mate. Back in the day of No Saves. I only managed to finish with all chaos emeralds cause I had my little bro playing as tails. AI tails was just too damn slow on those special stages. Didn't even own the consol or game so could only try round our friends' houses

So something my brother and I figured out when we were kids is that the old Atari controllers fit in the same port as the Sega Master System. While Atari controllers only have 1 button and a joystick, using these controllers while playing Sonic 2 pauses AND jumps at the same time! We were beating levels in less than 5 seconds (game time).

I remember once that i took over the Demo screen as a child and was able to play the game from it. I still dont know how and why that happened. I am not even sure if it was real or a dream but it felt real. If that ever happened it was probably a nick of the cartridge and then such a random one.

That's your opinion and fair enough, it's a really good game. Just I grew up with Sonic 2 so it's got that sentimental edge to it. 3+K came much later for me.

Yeah but if you take out nostalgia bias than you can see that Sonic 2 had tons of moments with awful design (see the last few levels), and was a pretty rushed game. Sonic 3 had much more consistent level design and had less bull moments. Sonic 2 isn't a bad game but if you look at it objectively Sonic 3 and Knuckles is much better, special stages that didn't have incoming obstacles you couldn't see (I'm looking at you Sonic 2 special stages), and 2 super forms, the most levels, It had the most memorable stages (hydrocity, angel island, flying battery, etc). But I'm guessing your nostalgia is gonna override that and you're probably not gonna change your mind. (fair enough, I understand) Both are great games. (I didn't grow up with either games so I don't have that bias)

Fair play, if you're clued up on Sonic 2's development, there was a TON of zones that were meant to be in the final that didn't make it, which is why Metropolis Zone lasts 3 acts. I feel that if I grew up with 3+K that bias might not really be there but who knows. To me it just shows progress; look at the gap between Sonic 1 and 2, it's huge, even more so with 2 and 3+K.

A completely useless glitch I found as a kid in this game is that if Sonic is standing on one of the pillars while Tails delivers the killing blow to the Aquatic Ruins boss, Sonic will remain standing in mid air while the pillar goes down. (Works the other way around too if Tails is standing on the pillar and Sonic delivers the killing blow.)

In the beginning Sonic and Fox watched Mr. Robotic on his old farm yard. They had enjoyed setting up simple pranks and watching Mr. Robotic become angered at the horse poo they had left on his drive way before speeding away. Mr. Robotic cleaned up the mess, locked his gate and went inside to have dinner with his wife. His kids had already moved out of home. Mr. Robotic spoke about the farm needing some extra hands. Instead of hiring labour, Mr. Robotic created an army of harvesters to make his farm life easier. After a while, Sonic and Fox had ramped up their pranks in an attempt to anger Mr. Robotic. This time they had put a stick of dynamite in the exhaust pipe of his car, ready to detonate when Mr. Robotic tried to start up the car. Mr. Robotic came swaddling down from his farm house, looking forward to going to the shops. He sat down in his car and rumaged his pockets for some keys and he found them. He started the car when it when BOOM. Both his legs were broken from the blast and he had his wife call an ambulance. When he came home he rolled around in his mechanical wheelchair and began building an army that would consume the entire forest and become the world of Sonic the Hedgehog as we know it today.

I don't like games where you have to explain why these feats are feats. Would much rather have a commentary where people are like "Oi, that was fuckin' fast" and then split off on a tangent about polynomials or something, hearing about every frame-perfect jump takes me out of the experience of watching it. I can see he's very good at the game, now give me some personality instead of droning on from the couch. Like, if you have to break off your explanation of feat A because Feat B happened and you need to quickly describe it before Feat C comes up, you need to chill.

It's just fun to watch someone use unconventional strategies and techniques to play through our favorite games at ludicrous speeds :)
