Sonic the Hedgehog Complete Series DVD Review

The thing that was unique about this series is that they talked about death, and dying, and killing people. Which was a big, big deal back in the day, like very few cartoons if any back then went that far; but it also made it much more believeable. I believe the fact that they crossed lines and did a believeable good vs. evil show that seems so real even to this day, I believe is why Sonic SAT AM remains so popular.

I loved that series, it was sad how it was sort lived. Loved the fan art included in it, they really do care about the fan base with this one.

Z, when you gets the chance you should play Sonic Generations. Overall fantastic game and in my opinion the best 3D sonic game.

great reviev i got the set shortley after it came out got the only one the store had every time i watch it it brings back memories of being 8 1/2 watching it premier on abc satam and transformers g1 are my all time fav cartoons of the 80's and 90;s for he is The Fastest Thing Alive

I just got the DVD set recently and boy it is awesome. I really love the fan artwork that was used in this set. I also loved the DVD menu, it is such an impressive DVD menu. I've pointed this out on other sites and I'll point it out here, but one thing I think Shout Factory should have done on the two front cases is switch them around because the first cover art looks more epic and fits more for season 2 (not to mention that Dulcy is in it) and the second cover seems more fitting for season 1.

Nice review. I can tell you that the UK Version of Sonic The Hedgehog is a 2 disk set as well...actually it has the same extras (more or less) as the Us release from Shout Factory, it includes the Jaleel White and Ben Hurst interviews defenatily. Oh the disks are in Region 0 encoding as well. ^_^

I'll admit. The fact that the comic series is still alive after fifteen years is rather suprising. I thought that the comics died years ago, and I didn't find out the truth about them until a couple of months ago. My inner nerd had an orgasm. But oddly, a lot of the SATAM fans that I have met on forums refuse to associate the comic series with SATAM because they do not like the direction that it is going, not to mention the fact that Ben Hurst is no longer involved with the comics.

My opinion looking back as a kid, this was the best, I mean, to me, I hate the whole cliche and Sonicness in it, just annoys me, with the whole phrases and attitude and stuff, but I think it's also the voice actors that made this cartoon so good alike, since the 90s did have some brilliant voice actors at it's time

SatAM IS the best Sonic cartoon period. Sonic X was pretty much a disappointment for a number of reasons. I grew up watching SatAM & I loved it when I first saw it. I also got the DVD & I'm keeping it until the day I die.

I have never seen any of the Sonic cartoons. PLEASE DONT STONE ME!!!. I did however use to play the sonic video game for the sega genesis. But just from the intro cartoon clip and your great review Now i'm interested in seeing the episodes.

Shout Factory! releases some of the best sets. The biggest problem is their sets are really hard to find in any store. You end up having to hunt them down online. I have their sets they put out for Mystery Scvience Theater 3000 and they are o much better than when Rhyno was putting out the sets. I feel like I actually get my money's worth when buy Shout Factory! sets..

@@zaranyzerak I guess that’s why they haven’t. Not only they had great quality. Blu-ray’s doesn’t even get scratches like DVDs do. Plus it has a lot of Space, so it would’ve been a 2 disc set tho. As for this show, I hope and still have hope for this show to have a Blu-ray release of it one day. Just maybe. Unless the company wants to wait to make a 4K ultra HD of it or something like that but that won’t even work because I know 4K is only made for movies. I also hope this show would have a revival because of the ending with a cliff hanger from Doomsday Project. Who Knows? We can all still hope for it 🙏🙏

I have heard that the Japanese version of Sonic X is much better than the english version more times than I can count, but I don't really see why. I have watched all 78 episodes in english along with a couple of episodes in japanese, and the differences were minimal. I'll admit that 4Kids adds some corny puns to the dialogue, but aside from that it is pretty much the same. The only BIG differences were how 4Kids handled the deaths of Maria, Molly and ESPECIALLY Cosmo. That made me gag.

Great video love your videos I have this and the adventures of sonic the hedgehog I say for my fandom that the adventures of sonic the hedgehog and sonic satam go together especially since Jaleel white voices sonic in both and that he's just younger in adventures cause it's lighter I have sonic the hedgehog satam and adventures on DVD again love your videos

+Zaranyzerak +Malcolm Nadeau The series in really good quality is available right here on KZbin in it's entirety, so there is a way to watch it even if you can't get the DVD set for less than what it costs now on Amazon and eBay. I'm personally glad that this user posted them as i'd been wanting to see the show again for a very long time but unfortunately i missed out on getting the set when it was still available for decent prices. Anyway, it's all right there on that channel's page. It also has the other two DiC Sonic series as well as both versions of Sonic X, plus some of the other old school video game shows like the Legend of Zelda series and the Super Mario Bros Super Show. +Zaranyzerak True that, and considering the Shout! DVD set is now ridiculously overpriced everywhere i have looked at least they are up there if you just want to watch the series for free. Since it doesn't look like the show will be re released on DVD anytime soon i'm glad it's all here for me to watch being that SATAM is my personal childhood favorite out of all the Sonic cartoons and especially in terms of DiC's series.

You claim that this is generally recognized as the best of the Sonic cartoons. Are you sure of that? I do believe that this was the best Sonic cartoon, but I always considered myself as part of a very small and loyal fanbase. For every one SATAM fan I find I could find twenty Sonic X purists who would rather this show never see the light of day again (not to mention those damn SonAmy fantards who have a personal grudge against Sally).
