Think about it this way. With the story of the Arabian Nights gone, there was a good chance that most of the genie’s restrictions on what you could wish for would be gone as well right? Plus Erazor Djinn had the entirety of the Arabian Nights within him, he basically had control over anything and everything EXCEPT for the lamp. Mean by he could technically fulfill any wish disregarding any restrictions. But then again, that’s my way of looking at it.

Literally everyone: Sonic has a cold heart, he just wished for a mountain of handkerchiefs for her and he didn't wish someone to keep her company. Me: look, When someone close to you leaves forever, you cannot fill that void with another person since it will not be the same thing, the only way you can release that pain is to simply cry all the time you need, Sonic cannot wish for a copy of himself but immortal since that copy would be trapped forever and would get bored of being there (remembering that he doesn't like small spaces). Just think about it for a moment, imagine that a close relative is gone forever and even though you may wish everything you want except to revive that lost person, you cannot fill that void with someone else. Now stop the toxic behavior and be realistic, you're welcome.

Honestly moments like this made sonic my favourite character, while these days i prefer eggman for his consistency and appreciate shadows story arc. Sonic at his peak defys his expectations, people saying cartoon characters can't be taken seriously is why sonic works so fucking well, he wise cracks and has a care free attitude but he isn't ignorant, hes emotionally intelligent when he needs to be. The writers understood how to use varying tone to emphasis using contrast, instead of abrasively cramming it where it doesn't belong. Like forces sonic is apparently tortured yet he's still wise cracking or in lost world they try building up the zeti only for them to make fools of themselves. You don't really appreciate how good the "dark age" was until you look outside of it, quite frankly the Saturn drought and meta era moreso count as the series dark ages than these passionately told stories with experimental gameplay. Sure not every experiment works, but I'd much rather have inconsistently good over consistently bland.
