The Gaia Colossus only FEELS like you're moving slow due to the GARGANTUAN scale of the room. Notice the rippling effect the Gaia Colossus creates due to breaking the sound barrier just like when you boost as Sonic.

Bro, I remember watching Cobanermani's videos on Unleashed, which really inspired me to play the game. I was 5 at the time that the game came out, and now I believe I played it when I was 6 or 7? My first version was the Wii, it's a lot easier than the HD version, my goodness, medal hunting was the worst in HD and Eggmanland is a lot easier in the Wii version (like what they thinking of combining the day time and night time together into one act than 5 acts for Werehog and I believe it was 1/2 acts for the daytime stage on the Wii/PS2 version? But I like both really, I love the Werehog night stages not like everyone else, especially the combat, leveling stats, exploration wise and the soundtrack, (like I know a lot of the soundtracks in this game so easy to remember), especially the day time stages, love the boost formula in this one, this game makes you feel like you have the freedom for speed. The story is so good, especially the dynamic relationship between Sonic and Chip, really wish we get a remaster or another game that Sonic Team could make in a relation to that game (love Frontiers 2 or the next game to take examples as inspiration so they could make a perfect blend to a Sonic game). Unleashed is one of my favourites in the series, maybe my favourite next to Adventure 2 ❤👍

W video. Sonic Unleashed was always special for me because it was once if the hardest games I beat when first playing. Mainly because of the medals and Werehog, but I still love the game overall. This game wouldn't be the same without the werehog and after maxing out combat, it only got more fun. Jungle Joyride's metal requirement can still die, its the reason I've only beat this game once
@Philosgamestation6 күн бұрын
Thank you for the W comment. Seriously though that medal requirement is the bane of replaying this game. 120! No wonder there are mods to lower it.

the werehog scared ppl off due to how different it was from th hedgehog gameplay ill admit, when i first played unleashed i was around 10 years old and i hated the werehog. however, with me getting more interested in combat games like gow, dmc, etc, i started to appreciate the werehog more, and man is it fun to pull off those combos i hope frontiers 2 has a similar level of depth

I really think the medals wouldn’t be as much of an issue if the game stressed it more, or if the NPC. Side quests would hand you them as rewards instead of occasionally giving you opportunities to collect them

Love unleashed Same way introduced to it through cobanermani 456. I don’t mind the wearhog tbh. If they ever remake it I think they should revamp and give us an option about the battle music. But I always wondered why not use knuckles in this vein for the wearhog instead of sonic, cause I feel like it matches his fighting style 😂 he’s a hands on brawler anyway 😂
@Philosgamestation3 күн бұрын
Cobi probably introduced a generation to Unleashed. Sad to see him in his current state though I think he's been getting better. An Unleashed remaster is very needed in a lot of ways and toggleable battle music NEEDS to be there. As for Knuckles, I get why sega wanted to steer away from Sonic's friends for a while but boy did they overdo it.

tip: dont upgrade the werehogs health at all and learn how to block attacks, this give you more levels into your strength and combo so the enemies arent so damn tanky. Makes the werehog 10 times more fun

I played PS2 Unleashed to completion as a kid. Recently got a Xbox Series S JUST FOR Unleashed HD. I love both, but agree the HD medal hunting is the worst! I managed to not need to worry about stopping my progress get medals by grabbing all the medals in the hub areas, the night stages, and bosses. I did BARELY have enough for JJ Day 1. 120, 71 I think? Still got in! Currently in Eggmanland Hell. Still my top 3 Sonic games.

@Turo60215 сағат бұрын
Sonic Unleashed was definitely an ambitious game and introduced us to the boost formula that would go on to define the series to this very day, but it was never good. People only now want to convince themselves it is for the same reasons I really wanted to love it back in the day and still do, but it's easily one of the weaker titles.
@Philosgamestation15 сағат бұрын
You wanted to like the game, but couldn't. Doesn't mean the game was "never good" it isn't good in your opinion. Nowadays, people like the game for many reasons, be it nostalgia, comparing its scale to newer titles or whatever other reason. It's good to them.
@Turo60214 сағат бұрын
@Philosgamestation Yes, I wanted to like the game, but its shortcomings, which are many, prevent that. Nostalgia and scale are superficial reasons to consider a game good. People can like it for whatever reasons they want, but it would be disingenuous to call the game great, peak, masterpiece, etc. How much you like or dislike something is not indicative of a thing's quality, but objectively speaking, it's one of the more weaker titles, hence why Sega has since scaled things back to better results, but that doesn't mean that everything Unleashed accomplished should be parted with. We're only now getting back to more ambitious Sonic projects, and Unleashed is a great place to look to in a post Frontiers world, just as long as they don't make the same mistakes.
@Philosgamestation14 сағат бұрын
@Turo602 I totally get what you're saying and think you bring up some great points. I disagree though with how it's objectively one of the more weaker titles. Whether or not a game is a weaker or stronger title is subjective. Someone could consider forces one of the stronger titles. I'd disagree but they aren't objectively wrong. It's a matter of opinion. Is forces lower budget? Sure, but if they consider it great, peak or a masterpiece, I can't say the game is objectively weaker because what is the objective metric are we using to do so? Great comment with even better points though.
@Turo60214 сағат бұрын
@Philosgamestation I disagree with the notion that things can't be critiqued from an objective standpoint. Opinions are subjective, but not all opinions hold the same merit. We have many examples of great video games and understand the standards to which design, mechanics, and gameplay should adhere to. Otherwise, we couldn't praise developers for being good at their job.
@Philosgamestation13 сағат бұрын
@@Turo602 And I agree with you that games can be objectively critiqued. For example" X game doesn't convey to the player how to effectively use one of its main mechanics and fails to provide them with a safe area to figure out how it works." That is an objective critique of X game and is one of its shortcomings. Unfortunately X game has many such objective shortcomings. That wouldn't mean that the game was never good. It was only not good to me. I can say that Sonic Forces is a bad game. I can even say that it is an objectively badly designed game. But I wouldn't say that the game as a whole is objectively bad or objectively weaker. It can be bad by all objective merits, but to call it objectively bad is in my opinion an exaggeration. Of course exaggeration can be used as a tool to convey a point but I wouldn't say it's correct. Basically, this entire conversation hinges on the fact that while you consider Unleashed to be objectively weaker. I don't really get how so. The way I see it, it's a high point in the series history and a fantastic game. Typing this all out though has made me realise that it doesn't really matter. You can say Unleashed is objectively weaker just as I can say the same about forces. Neither of us is "correct" per se but who cares. I'm glad we had this conversation even if it took a long time to type.

Yeah people really be throwing around the word masterpiece for anything nowadays. It’s a good game but it’s no masterpiece, it has a lot of issues.
@PhilosgamestationКүн бұрын
I think Masterpiece is kind of subjective just because I think the game is a masterpiece doesn't mean you have to. Sure, the game has its issues but I can look past them. Someone who finds them to more negatively impact their play through wouldn't agree in me calling it a masterpiece while someone who has a similar mindset to mine would. Plus a strong expression does for a better title. You wouldn't watch a video called "Sonic unleashed 17 years later - Still really good"
