Sonic Unleashed: Redux v2 is officially releasing on July 4th 2024, alongside Redux Sonic v6!
Redux v2 introduces new lighting, textures,GI changes & Complete Addon support + DLC support!
@StarlightDX reworked the whole mod so it's cleaner, easier to develop for and overall is kinda the reason the v2 update is releasing way sooner than expected! Give 'em a a follow, they've got some cool stuff in the works!

Before this, I never thought Sonic's Unleashed model could be bettered, but this one feels like it does the trick! And I cannot thank you enough for including Chip's collar on the design😊 Making Skyscraper Scamper take place at sunset is such a beautiful touch, huge improvement to the in my book👍 Jungle Joyride looks jaw-dropping gorgeous, specially by the second half when you reach the waterfalls and the ruins😍 Boosting while bobsledding sounds dangerous yet exciting, and that little stunt Sonic pulls in midair is such a nice touch👏👏👏👏👏

Not a bad mod overall! The only thing I personally think looks a little off is the face-lift. I feel it makes his face appear a bit... squished? I also think I've never been a fan of Sonic having more pronounced eyebrows on his model. But, maybe that's just me. Outside of that, the model as a whole looks incredible, and I like the addition of him having red soles under the shoes. That's a neat little detail. I also like the new boost sound! Definitely more realistic to an actual sonic boom. Fantastic stuff!

Yeah I like the eyebrows and the shape of the eyes grooved into the muzzle a lot better this way. Looks kinda like the SA1 Dreamcast Model but more detailed. So seeing this on an SA2 model? Guess I'll go check it out. The red soles are a bit weird for the modern shoes but whatever. They've changed time to time. Personally, I would have also liked if the curve at the back of the ear triangles intended inward instead of the usual outward that Unleashed-onward presents us with making them look like gum drops or water drops. Then all you need is to make his feed less thick and more pointed.

i think the boost sound could serve to be put through a frequency shifter, which would serve the dual purpose of sounding a bit more accurate to unleashed and not overpowering the frequencies the song is on

This promising, it just needs some tweaks, such as the camera being properly centered. I feel like that's probably the biggest issue I've noticed through this gameplay. Other than that, it looks really good. There is constructive criticism and then there's just being a dick. However people may respond to your efforts, just know that there are also people who very much appreciate and admire what you do. Don't let negative baiters get you down. Keep up the good work!

Thanks bro, appreciate it! That camera bug is an issue with Redux conflicting with K1’s Complete Addon. CA forces the SU camera code, which breaks my camera file as I made it for the Gens camera 😂 I’ll need to ask K1 about that soon.

i like when u boost u can hear the buildings "woosh" next to you but it feels idk abit too "loud" after abit and repetitive. i dont rly know what u could do to fix it but i personaly had to lower the volume after some time watching this video cuz it was getting abit annoying. mby the camera needs abit more tweaks but other then that i love this mod already

Btw, I have a suggestion, while I am fine with the new model, I recommend keeping the Redux V5 model available since most others seem to prefer it. Same when this stuff gets ported to Unleashed.

How possible do you think it would be to backport the Redux Sonic model to the X360 & PS3 versions of Unleashed? This model looks SO MUCH BETTER than the one that’s in the game by default and I’d love to mess around with it on my modded PS3!

Is it just me, or does Sonic feel WAY faster here? Can't tell if it's speedrun tech or if it's mod related. Some of it doesn't look like tech I've seen if it is. Some of it I can definitely tell, like little hints of M-speed and D-speed as well as sliding into 2D to maintain 3D speed. Either way, props to you, you definitely know what you're doing.

Love Val's art, this Sonic looks really cool, but I'm not in love with the audio balancing, it needs to be lowered, can barely hear the music at certain points

You’ve just reminded me that I didn’t carry out an amplitude test 😂 Basically, these sounds were all done before I figured out how to mix sounds properly, with the exception of the boost whine as I just added that in a few days ago. I’ve almost finished MSA2’s sound mixing rework and I’m pleased to say the audio doesn’t peak at all and sounds aren’t fighting with each other. I need to match the output volume to the original sounds for the boost wind & enemy explosions. I’ll be making another video on this, so dw there’s gonna be some more work done before the final releases!

The mod's pretty, so... good job on that. Redux Sonic v6 just doesn't fit - the animations are nice, but the model itself looks like it belongs in a fan-made SA3, not Unleashed. The goal of Redux Sonic was to bring the Unleashed model and the Marza model into a perfect harmony, making it look more CG-like, and v5 pulled that off into my favorite Sonic model of all time. Here, you're just remaking the whole thing from scratch, and it looks awful. I think I'll stick with v5, thanks. The camera hopefully gets fixed, because it's impossible to see anything in most sections. The 2D one works well, but in 3D, it's awful, going all over the place. I'll try this out, but with Redux Sonic v5, not v6.

It's a mod for Generations, but there's also a backport for Unleashed on Xbox that's WiP. I'll continue the backport once SU Redux for Gens is completed. Biggest reason for this is because all the mod tools are made for the PC version of Gens.

I really like the new design, I've been looking for a mod that changes Sonic's look but keeps the generations/unleashed feel. Although I will say the shading is too intense, the jungle joyride quick-step section looks really hard to see in.

It’s a real sonic boom from a jet! It’s just how it’d actually sound in real life if you observed a jet floor it at Mach 1. Sonic Team used a stock explosion sound for his boost sound.
