You know what else is heartbreaking? There's flowers around Shadow at the end of the first part as well, but they're lilies. Those are a common symbol of death and grief 😭💔

@@hopegalaxywell he couldn’t save her from her fate because near the end of the game when she and Gerald are disappearing to their timeline Shadow at the last moment wants to use chaos control to freeze them before they end up vanishing but Maria said they’re going to be okay and even if Shadow couldn’t tell them what happens to them because of the timeline she says that if fate takes them apart she’ll always be in his heart which 💔

I thought the first ending with Shadow reflecting on how life would have been if he and Maria were still together was emotional but this exclusive ending with Shadow unsure if he will ever find where he truly belongs and Maria tells him she believes in him and no matter what she will always be with him was even more heartbreaking thanks for sharing this 👍🦔🖤😢

It sucks that this wasn't in every version of Dark Beginnings. But the reason its playstation exclusive is probably to make up for removing the scenes with Gerald's execution and Maria's death. This scene is a leftover from how dark beginnings was originally supposed to end (Watch the animatics). So they probably went "Oh crap. The playstation version of this is just inferior because we removed two scenes. Let's add this one scene to make up for it."

Sonic annoys the living hell out of Shadow. What we did learn is that he respects Sonic as his equal and rival.

A lot of Sonic Adventure 2 influence in a lot of recent games. City Escape was one of the Cyberspace themes in Sonic Frontiers, in Sonic Superstars, they added rail grinding to classic style gameplay and Adventure 2 was the first game to add that, and now a lot of story arcs and music from Adventure 2 are back. Also don't forget some story elements. In Frontiers Sonic brought up the time Tails broke him out of prison and in Shadow Generations the fake Emerald Tails made to destroy the canon from Adventure 2 was a big plot point in Shadow Generations. It's bad enough this is Playstation Exclusive but what's worse is that the PS4 version is unavailable physically unless you get the Collector's Edition from Limited Run Games. Sure you could import a PS4 copy or just get the PS5 version but if the Xbox One version is packaged with the physical Xbox Series X version then I don't see why they couldn't have just given us a physical PS4 copy.

@WhoTaku interestingly enough, you can play the original Xbox 360 release on an Xbox One or Series X|S through backward compatibility, and with this new remaster, we have 3 consecutive generations of Xbox consoles that can play this game with each having a native port.
