Gosh the way Shadow’s voice is portrayed here in the end is heart throbbing, his voice has SO much more emotion it makes me feel even more sympathy for him than in the English Sub

it's been interesting seeing how the JP versions are handled now in the era where the stories are written in english first. technically this is the dub and not the other way around. i'd have to compare them more closely to fully formulate my thoughts but i will admit at a glance and with my very first-grade understanding of japanese it seems pretty one-to-one. whenever shadow gets a doom power his japanese VA sounds like he's being tortured in the booth (compliment)

While the english dub is not bad (I dont like Rouge's va tho), in the final scene, the JP conveys Shadow's desperation and pain a lot better than the english dub. When Shadow tells Maria she doesn't know what's going to happen, in the JP he is almost screaming, his voice trembling. But in the Eng dub he just kinda say it

Honestly, anything is better than Kirk's deliver of "You've got this Sonic!" from the original. That was just plain terrible. And honestly, all three of Rouge's actors have had some issue with their performance. Lani Minella had the classic issues of old 90's videogame voice acting, the 4kids actors except Mike Polluck, Dan Green, and Jason Griffith at times, were all a blight on the universe, while Karen Strassman sounds almost like she's trying to channel Anna from Fire Emblem or Aigis from Persona, only for it to just sound...off. Yet when she actually speaks in her lower, more natural register, like when she asks "Interested in raiding a GUN base?" she sounds much better. All in all, I'd say it's probably an issue of voice direction more than anything, which is a shame, because I have to say, Mike Polluck's acting as Professor Gerald is some of the best I've heard from him.

Honestly the Japanese dub did a good job with making shadow seem more emotional in the end. But something about shadow in the English dub just makes it seem like my preferred version. Sonic in Japanese is still cute though lol

Truth be told, I was waiting on the day where a Japanese dub of this game would come because the English dub of the current Sonic voice cast makes absolutely no sense to me anymore and that I could never get used to their voice. I tried to let it resonate with me, especially the current voice of Sonic, and with Ian Flynn handling the writing and dialogues for the characters, yet I'm still disliking it a lot. Until the day comes when theirs some consideration on recasting a few Sonic voice actors (except Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Dave B. Mitchell, Bryce Papenbrook, Erica Lindbeck, just to name a few as they are fine as they are), I don't think I'll be listening to their English dub anytime soon.

I'm glad I'm not the only one where the modern voices still just aren't having an effect on me despite the shifted direction (especially Sonic). Like even after all this time they still just haven't grown on me. Tails is the only one I've ever been 100% fine with. Personally I'll always favor the 4Kids cast (as far as the English voices). They've just always been the definitive voices for me 🤷‍♂

Not that it's a big issue or anything, but let's just say that if for any reason in the future that there's another recast, who would you pick to be the new voice on not just Sonic himself but most of his friends, and who would stay the same? Here's my take, for example: 1. Zeno Robinson as Sonic the Hedgehog. 2. Hilary Haag as Amy Rose. 3. Alejandro Saab as Shadow the Hedgehog. 4. Cristina Vee as Rouge the Bat. 5. Lara Jill Miller as Charmy Bee. 6. Fred Tatasciore as Dr. Eggman. 7. Mick Wingert as Orbot & Cubot. Not sure about E-123 Omega, though. Everyone else is fine as they are, though admittedly, I thought that the voice for Metal Sonic and Mephiles was Jim Meskiman and Richard Epcar, though didn't expect Ray Chase and Robbie Daymond to voice them but what can you do? Anyway, these are some of my opinions, and if there are those who say that the current english Sonic voice should be left alone, then that's perfectly fine.

@@reniertorresii950 If you're asking me, I don't know enough voice actors to make a list. All I can say for certain is that I would keep Colleen as Tails and Mike as Eggman. I'll say whoever voiced Shadow in Sonic Prime wasn't too bad either, but I'm not 100% certain on how I feel towards him as a hypothetical alternative so I don't know. But honestly as much as I don't resonate with most of the current cast, for me another recast would be pretty tiring at this point with how many times the characters' voices have already been changed.
