@@eggiobeggo I mean, the Sonic part is just as good as the 2011 version, especially compared to an actual downgrade like Colors Ultimate. It’s basically just base Generations with the Drop Dash and some redubbed lines. It’s Shadow Generations that’s the star of the show, with the refined Frontiers controls and much better storytelling. It’s the true evolution Sonic games.

You can tell that the revenue from the movies has made a massive difference. Every sonic game since the first movie has been really good, with 1 or 2 average remakes as well. The standards have definitely gone up. Sonic team actually has a decent budget and has gotten more staff to make sure everything is at a higher standard. Frontiers was Great, and had lots of ambitiom. Superstars was super creative with the new chaos emerald powers and art style, plus a new character that people liked. And now, after colors ultimate and origins were ok, nothing special, the new gens remaster is solid, better performance and a few new touches(3 save files thank you!),shadow’s part looks awesome, and there’s a lot of love for the character and his lore. The effort has been a lot higher recently, you can feel it. I see a lot of comment say things like “look at what happens when you have sonic team time and resources. You actually get good games? Huh Sega”. This is true, yes. Sega wasn’t funding sonic team as much as they needed. But I think people don’t realize: they probably couldn’t. I think the reason why they’ve been funded more recently is because of the movies. They’ve made hundreds of millions, which has given sega more room to pump more money into sonic team. Before the first movie, what was really generating money for Sega? None of their other franchises were making serious money, and Sonic’s popularity had been declining since 06. I think what’s happened is simple: movie made bank, money was invested, which allowed frontiers to make it on time in a way which wasn’t buggy. Frontiers gave fans hope, and brought new fans/old fans back. The success of frontiers and movie 2 allowed them to push the gas pedal even harder. Which resulted in us getting better and better games since. Yeah origins wasn’t amazing, but it would have been so much worse if they tried doing it before the movies. Superstars was class. Now Sonic x Shadow gen is getting lots of praise. And look at how much promo it got? A mini animated series, multiple trailers with plenty of hidden things to hype fans up, lots of coverage, an early play test event. That level of marketing hasn’t been present for any sonic games in YEARS. My point to this ramble is: I think people should realize how important to sonic movies have been in the “resurgence” of Sonic and Sega as a company. The revenue saved them, without those hundreds of millions, they’d be in so much trouble. It went from looking so bleak in 2019, to looking Great in 2024, with no sign of slowing down. I’ve also heard positive things about the more niche sega games as well, they’ve been getting better reviews. Those movies came at such an improv time, and I’d argue we’re SO crucial in sega getting back on the right track. With movie 3 undoubtedly going to do better than the first 2, with how hyped the trailer was, I’d guess once those funds come in, we’ll see an even bigger jump in quality. @@sonsique I enjoyed it, but I can see why others might not have. I haven’t owned a Wii myself, only my grandmother did. And even though she had colors at one point, it got lost. Before I became a sonic fan. So I never got to play to. I enjoyed it mostly because I never got acces to it until it was brought to consoles. I imagine it was the same for many others who never played it because it was only on the Wii. I’d guess if you bought it and you still owned it on Wii, you could be dissatisfied because they didn’t add much, and it still had glitches. Other than long load times, I loved it. Tbf, it’s been over a year since I’ve done a full play of it, I’ve often gone back to other sonic games a lot more, so maybe I would think differently now. Who knows. Even if it’s not great, I’m just glad it got a port for the people who never had it. That alone for me makes it a worthy release. At least they did better for origins, and a lot better with SXS Gen
