Love how one guitar is panned to the left and one to the right, and each plays it's own lines which are different but interweaving. I love the guitar on the left... how it's so sparce and a little sloppy, almost on purpose to give the song it's moody sound and feel. Great song.

Sonic Youth did that a lot during production, Thurston Moore on one side and Lee Reynoldo on the other, because both were incredible and doing so allowed the band to showcase each talent individually whilst allowing both individual (i.e. NOT IDENTICAL) lines to play off/ merge with each other, which was a big, if not always obvious, part of the genius behind Sonic Youth's sound.

If you like interweaving guitars (not so much in mix but style of play) check out Television's Marquee Moon with Verlaine and Lloyd switching between lead and rhythm (but less traditional in their case). They set the ground work for many bands that followed.

This is filmed, exactly how I would have been looking at things while they were playing this song (if I was there live in the room). This song is great and the video adds to its overall quality.

I love their noisier stuff, like "Shaking Hell" and the rest of "Confusion is Sex" but this song is just perfect.

I like this music, but it makes me sad and nostalgic. In the early 1990s I remember living in my tiny apartment with my part-time cat trying get through college. I had no friends, my only media was my AM/FM jam box with a broken tape deck. This just brings back the self-loathing, it's still here with me, but then, it was of a different flavor. I wish I would have gotten out in the world back then.

I don't know guys what you talkin' bout. This video is perfect for that song. It shows all the details. Of burning flame and being a flame and being touched by flames.

The video shows how in our existence the details don't matter as long as u can move your mind to everything except the details you'll be able to move on, this video exactly tells u to not Care about good video's or a perfect life nothing is gonna be perfect so grow up. this is life.

I have not been a huge SY fan. But the more I hear the more I like them. They have some great songs, are a very important band historically, and I really dig Murray Street -> Sonic Nurse -> Rather Ripped. And Teen Age Riot has to be one of the greatest rock songs ever.

WOW!! LOVE IT!!! This wonderful song as a sort of Beatles-like vibe that truly connects with us over-the-hill Boomers, lol. Like the drummer: good rhythms!! Also love the simplicity of the whole affair: uncluttered yet sophisticated.

When I was 16, I saw their live in Tokyo in 1998. I always remember that it was crowded in front of the venue that was not large, jumped all the time, closed my eyes in the guitar noise of the explosion, and flew to a different world.

i came to Sonic Youth, inspired by their wall of effects. I stayed because i accidentally absorbed their master-craft level of melody, structure, and the fine art of barely controlling a wall of sound, and their wisdom to just let the wall of sound take over from time to time. it's now thirty years (or more) later, and i'm still stunned by their body of work.
