Rather ripped really was one of the best albums they put out. Every track has something special about it, and jams runs free is probably my favourite from the whole album

Idk if anyone will ever see this. But though this was later in their career, this is one of the greatest songs off of one of the greatest records of their entire career. Fucking amazing. Thurston, Kim, Lee, Steve, and family, I fucking love you all.

IDK whether it's the riffs or Kim's voice, but I find this song tremendously soothing and melancholic at the same time. ♥

So at a show I was once asked by a stranger "So if you like Sonic Youth, who's your favorite singer? Who's songs do you like best? Kim's, Lee's or Thurston's?" "Kim's". I replied, "The guitars just work better when she sings." Saying, "Kim's are the pop songs." the stranger walked away. Yep. I think that might be some of pretension some music listeners react against. Jams like these do run free.
@maudcress12655 жыл бұрын
ooooh yes! she's the best singer! No doubt about that! the second place is for thrurston.! Good voice too!... and in fact i'd never really like lee songs... he's a really GREAT guitarist but singer..... no
@anamendoza3575 жыл бұрын
They run as free as they possibly could. I love sonic youth because of how much diversity, unique sound and amazing footage they put out. They really do what they want. Not what the people would want.
@jaykelley1035 жыл бұрын
They're kind of all pop songs. That's why the shit works where other feedbacky dissonant bands sound like shit, it's just weird pop. That's not a bad thing at all
@pincmin4 жыл бұрын
The most conventional songs are Thurston's. Sugar Kane, Diamond Ring, Superstar. Kim might sound a little more pop in Little Trouble Girl, but mostly she brings the raw vocals. I prefer her songs tbh.
@poweryoutuber9994 жыл бұрын
Kim is simple and in the moment Lee is deep and metaphorical Thurston is kinda punk/grudgy They offer something for all your moods
