It's different, in 7 her movement was by far the best in the game and with the more defensive meta it fit perfectly, they nerfed her movement to the ground in this game, she's still strong but def A or B tier at the most, her flow charts are still super fun though so ima play her

As a top player, it would not take long for him to examine Zafina, compare her differences to T7 Zafina, at have a general idea where she fits until new info changes it.

I do not mean to hate. Just putting things into perspective and let us be honest for a moment. Sonic is not a Tekken player. He certainly made it to a decent rank in T8 by now (I believe Tekken King?) But he won't beat a single legacy player in this game. It does not have to be a pro or even semi-pro Tekken player. But the legacy skill and knowledge is just so absurd that even pros from 2D fighter cannot compete. You have to literally play Tekken for at least 2 decades nonstop. And this is also why I cannot put any value to tier assessments from players who are not at least God of Destruction rank. You do not make it to GoD by abusing gimmicks. Not a single character will carry you past emperor without having plenty of legacy skill. Zafina is a gimmicky and very special character. Her kit has always been tricky to deal with up to the highest ranks. But all high level players agree that she lost tools and core strengths from 7 going into 8 and the new mechanics do not make up for it. I myself am not a legacy player but can make it to ruler rank (purple) after having played the game plenty over the past weeks. And neither I am using a top tier but a character that relies on fundamentals mostly. And neither am I a pro at 2D fighters like Sonic. So, in essence, one has to take his insights with a grain of salt... Zafina is just not as effective on high level as in our rank brackets. Inbuilt evasiveness into her offense in an aggressive game + she is rare and people have no matchup knowledge makes her op in red, purple, blue ranks.

I played tekken 7 for years and said Lei was A tier. I constantly heard “he’s too risky”, “his punches are too stubby”, “he’s bottom tier”. Last year of tekken 7, Arslan and Knee say “Lei is really good” “lei is A tier”. If you don’t believe in your character then swap, but too many people are only influenced by complaints about their character.

All characters are strong only if you don't know the match up. Zafina is fun, but stop trying to make her as if she's strong in top level of plays, because she's reallly not and she's significantly weaker compared to everybody else. She's easily bottom tier. She needs buffs asap.

She still has wrong animation crushes(the only character that still has TTag2 hurtboxes) In my tier list she's S- where top tiers are SS+ (in T8 everyone is strong like never before) low tiers are Steve in A+ and Asuka in A (they don't play Tekken 8 like other characters, it's like they re from previous Tekken) but everyone can fight against most of the characters (I m talking in general but yeh we should talk about and matchups and counter picks as well)

All of the big three FGs actually nailed their power scaling on release this time where their worst character can't possibly be considered below C tier and the average character is B or even A- tier. Doesn't mean S+ tier isnt still ridiculous but it opens the door for even the lowest tier character to have the tools to let you outplay.

If that were the case, Tekken players would've won a ton of DBFZ tournaments when the pot was respectable. Almost every FG has ridiculously difficult optimal combos to pull off.

Zaf is bad in this game, heat itself doesnt give reason as to why this char is so called A+. If you know the game and have been playing it for years, this is a no brainer. She has been badly nerf and alot of her great tools were removed. There are videos on this platform showing how much nerfed she received along with low play count. This doesn't mean she isnt playable to win, as i play her as well. When a player achieves a high placing with her in majors perhaps itll change peeps mindset on her. But usually in fighting games. Characters that are nerfed are technically not "better" lol
