Is a Smash Bros. Movie REALLY a Bad Idea?

At best, it would probably be like a Rodger Rabbit or space jam scenario. You know? All these iconic characters together fighting a bad guy, but that’s about it. Hopefully, they’ll put a lot of care into making films for their other IPs, rather than focus too much on a Smash Movie.

when you started talking about the Lego movie, I thought of how all these historical figures, superheroes, country clubbers, and other Lego characters were all part of the Master Builders. They weren't very present in the movie, but they were all cool and funny to me. I literally didn't know who Dumbledore and Michelangelo were when I first saw the Lego movie, but it was still the best movie yet. It was fun to go back to the Lego movie after getting into Ninjago and spot the Green Ninja in the background. If they do a Smash Bros movie, it could be more like the Lego movie than endgame and they could just have fun with it.

Here's an idea; don't have a SSB movie, have an animated show instead. They don't tie to the movie continuities, but exist in their own bubble derived straight off of Nintendo's ips. Versions of the characters which perhaps more so resemble their video game counter parts in some ways.

I think they should start with Brawl first instead of Melee and 64 because master hand was the only villain in those games. Brawl would definitely fit as the original film because Sonic is there, not only that, it also shows Tabuu who controls Master Hand.

Here’s an idea, just have some sort of catastrophic event happen with Master and Crazy hand, causing all the universes to merge, eventually all of the characters meet up with the two diabolical hands and they hold a tournament that’s basically the Tournament of Power, where the fighters from each universe fight each other in a bracket set up, and each losing team has their universe erased by Crazy hand. The heroes are very weak compared to the two godlike hands, so they play along, and by the end they eventually fight the hands in a final destination like area, with the heavy hitters being Super Sonic and Superstar Mario. Eventually they win and use the Chaos Emeralds to restore the Multiverse back to normal, with them now knowing that there are other universes out there, and maybe, just maybe, they’ll see each other again. Wow I guess this is less of an idea and more of the whole story😅.

A real Smash Bros movie would be insane, but I don't know how it could all piece together properly. This would be very expensive to make and the payoff would really have to be worth it for the film to profit from all the money that would've gone in. Like I've said before, video game movies aren't just made for fan service, but they're also made to be good. I think shoving in as many characters and locations as possible is just a setup for a confusing plot that nobody's going to enjoy following. I was told this before that the director of the Sonic Movies is interested in making a Smash Bros Movie, but I don't know how he'd get ahold of the Nintendo IPs considering Illumination already has Mario. I could see this possibly working, but I'm really confused just talking about it, if I'm being honest.

There's one thing that no one seems to have considered: Having "Smash" be less of this whole "game characters battling together" and more of a general title to refer to crossover movies akin to "Avengers". As well as sticking to whatever game movies Nintendo DOES adapt. With any "Where's (insert missing character here)?" question being easily answered with "They don't have a movie, yet.".

It seems to be that people wouldn't be able to appreciate it for what it is rather than it actually being a bad idea. Cause the video is very relevant, logical and clear to me, but I still don't see anything in it that would justify why it would be a bad idea.

To be honest, a smash bros movie could work this way: ● All the characters awake in astrange room, without any memory of how they got there, and then get to know each other; ● Master Hand appears and says that in order to be free they must fight, and the battle arenas that simulate their worlds. ● At some point someone notices what happens to the losers and convince the rest of the fighters to join forces against Master Hand ● After his defeat the fighters awake in ther respective worlds like it was all a dream, in a way that doesn't interfere with their stories and worlds. At first the fighters from Mario, Sonic, Pikachu, and probably future Zelda, Metroid and Kirby movies would be the best starting point

Listen! I may be the only person with a perfect Smash Movie Idea! Please read this whole comment I want one where the original 12 characters team up to defeat the master and crazy hand! First up Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, and Toad are in Peach's castle having a meeting with peach, until they hear rumbling. The rumbling is actually the mushroom kingdom attacked by goombas and koopas, they aren't controlled by Bowser. So peach sends the mario bros and DK to check it out but tells Toad to stay behind since it might be dangerous. Once the 3 heroes take a step outside they fall into a hole that takes them to a different plant. Enter, the world of racing, F-Zero Our heroes find themselves falling and landing on a blue race car. The driver is Captain Falcon, and he's competing in a race. He looks up and noticed them. Later on he completes the race and secretly take the mario trio to he office. Mario tells him about thw mushroom kingdom getting under attack. Captain Falcon tells them it might be the Master hand. Captain falcon also tells them that he has a special portal that can teleport anything to a new planet. Donkey Kong asks if they can stop the hand but cap'n replies they need recruits. So they use a portal to go to the Hyrule Plant. On the hyrule planet many bokoblins are about to attack link but the portal opens and the bokos fall into it, while Cap'n 🦅 and the mario bros come out. Link noticed mario and recognised him from a news paper? Link asks them what they're doing and they said they are looking for helpers to defeat the master hand. Link says it's a bad idea, he also said he was going to stop the crazy since it's easier and the bokos were controlled by it. So they decided to split up and get more recruits. Mario and link team up to recruit the space bounty hunter, Samus. DK, luigi, and Captain go to get the mighty, pink, puffball... Kirby. The DK, luigi and cap arrives on planet popstar but kirby was nowhere to be found, all they saw were beat up waddle dee warriors. But then they heard a kirby scream so they went to check it out. Kirby was fighting some purple waddle doos, probably controlled by Master Hand. They go to help him and they won. Captain Falcon talks to kirby about master and crazy hand and they need kirby's help. Kirby replies with a sweet "Poyo!" As usual. Captain Falcon speaks kirby language and knows it means YES. Now that they had kirby on the team kirby called the warp star and they went to see link and mario. (Meanwhile at the same time) Link and mario arrives on Samus's ship, link says he knows samus well. And then samus appears in front of them with her blaster pointing at mario. Link tells Samus to calm down and mario's an ally. Samus understands. And Samus is also on her way to stop the Hands, so she teams up. But then the ship was under attack by unknown space crafts. One of them hand on top of the ship and a Fox in a white jacket steps out. It was fox. He snuck in the ship and went behind Mario and the others. Samus and Link heard him and turn around so Mario turns around as well. (But fox is secretly a mario fan because he knows him) (since he's been flying around planets he once flew above Brooklyn in 2023 and see mario and luigi beating up bowser) Fox noticed mario and says he's a fan. Mario was shocked so he asks Fox to be on there team. Fox says yes and also tells his crew to retreat. Fox's planet was under attack by Master Hand's puppets so Fox is glad to help. Few minutes later Kirby and the others land on the ship and meet up with Mario, Link, Samus, and Fox. They have 8 in the team now. I have more ideas but it's very long. I was thinking they would go to Onnet and meet Ness and Ness tells them that Master Hand's Pokemon are attacking and a lost pikachu and Jigglypuff are stuck in the chaos. The team goes to help them and now they're on the team. Now they think of a plan to beat Master and Crazy Hand. They go to the mushroom kingdom and help a yoshi stuck under a rock. Now yoshi's on the team. Then they think of a name and luigi thinks of... The Smash Guys! And then mario is "The Smash Bros!" Then Fox is like " yeah, THE SUPER SMASH BRO!!!" Then they go and fight the hands only to realise the hands are controlled by Tabuu, tabuu knocks everyone back except Kirby, Mario, and Link. The 3 of them work together to defeat tabuu and win! Now the whole universe supports the super smash bros! Except one man... A post credit scene would be mario giving smash invites to people but one man in a grey suit and black bandana is not happy about them. Can you guess who? Please reply if you have a different idea or like my idea.

I think some people don't understand that being in the same "universe" is not the same as being in the same "earth", like, a universe can have multiple galaxies, and every galaxy can have a different solar system or earth. so, it's like what peach said in the mario movie, multiple galaxies, they make every character being from a different galaxy in the same universe. would something like that concept be too complicated to explain to people in a cinematic universe? detective pikachu could crossover with mario well, i think the same goes for other nintendo ip movies, different art-styles is not an issue, spider-man across the spider-verse is getting different spider-man from different cartoons, games and even live action and it all fit well, although i don't think the sonic movies universe would work, because of how different it is from the rest of the Sonic franchise, it would probably be better to have another Sonic, hell is Sonic even needed? they could do multiple smash movies like avengers had, and why bringing guests in the first installment? that's my thoughs pretty much, great video!

The first main villain would be Marx, he'd also be tricking the other characters instead of the Sun and Moon into fighting. Sounds pretty simple to me.

@@james656-k8e I dunno, but I'd like Link to have his Wind waker personally so he's less of a blank slate if they decide to keep him quite, and if he does talk it's not so jarring. But if I had to choose, I'd go for a very loose still original rendition of Link to the past with tiny bits of other games mixed in like how they did the Mario Movie. After that he'd join the Kirby ssb prequel having to fight Dinablade for some reason getting and tricked by Marx to fight Mario and the other Smash fighters, (Maybe a bit of Links awakening happens depending how the story goes) Then either he could do another solo movie or cross over with someone else, then we get the real first ssb with Master Hand Not to sure yet where I'd go from there but I'd have Majora's mask be the final solo story for the first Link. From there, idk I've never even played a Zelda game , I'm surprised I even got this far.

I would want a DK movie, a Kirby movie, Star Fox movie, Metroid Movie, F-zero movie, Punch-out Movie and Kid Icarus movie, and Zelda, Mother and Fire emblem, because of both franchises having too much lore, i think it would be better for them to get a TV show, it worked well for the last of us. 11 projects, and they crossover in a smash movie, Pokémon doesn't even need anything, there's already a lot of movies, just throw any Pokémon continuity there and it's done, it could be even detective pikachu.

i like that idea for it but i don't think it needs to be different characters as the movie versions are different from the game versions(lego movie was a blunt advertisement it's more it had fun with it's plot and even with the super mario bros. movie it's flaw asn't that huge as it had been years since a nintendo adaptation that wasn't pokemon.) and even super smash bros. forgot it's them being toys(and the easter eggs don't kill the possibility as there are ways they can explain past it.) a super smash bros. movie could work as the mcu isn't perfect/even the avengers movies have a lot of problems as they get messy,a super smash bros. movie needs buildup as it wouldn't loose it's appeal as it could do the games justice as with team effort like what the games do. my personal want for a super smash bros. movie would be a slow start with the series getting their own format(films,tv,anime,being a film series not putting it all in one film as the "only the popular ones" can't be used as an excuse as many of the marvel characters were even more unknown and nintendo should focus on adaptations for their series 1st.

I’d have to disagree with a point. While yes, I don’t think Mario could cross over to Zelda. But I can easily see sonic crossing over to the mushroom kingdom. Sonic has outlandish areas. There’s the whole ring portal thing and there’s mushroom hill. But I can see it being difficult when sonic humans are realistic and Mario not being realistic, so in that sense I feel that could really clash. So I can see sonic crossing over to Mario but not Vice versa

Having Pit and Fox in Mario's universe isn't that hard even with the easter eggs, like Peach said, there's a bunch of world out there. Or some more sofisticated. Like: They start by fighting each other with the promise that the winner will be sent back in their world. Then some of them decide to screw up the game and join forces against the organizers of this battle royal/hunger game. Only to find out they are not the original characters but just magic clones, which was hinted from the beginning, since they were ported into this Smash World through replica statues brought to life and all the people they beated were turned into replica statues too, and there was no return to their world. So, after a moment of identity crisis like Buzz Lightyear in the first Toy Story, they decide to begin a new life together in this world, starting from bringing back to life all the opponents they beated, including the villains, because they need their power for the final battle... Of the first season! With both heroes and villains in the same new world the sequel is unavoidable: The villains will join forces to take over the Smash World (Of course!), just to end backstabbing each other in the process, but not without forcing the heroes into a civil war.

@@HypercatZ I dunno about that since it'd make people who play Smash on par with people watching Squidgames / Hungergames. Instead to make all the real characters meet without it being overwhelming, I'd first make a smaller scale cross over movie before Smash With Kirby Super Star or it could even be called Kirby Super Smash, by doing this we get a very fun first cross over antagonist with Marx, he could even trick the characters into fighting each other. So that when the first true Smash bro's movie happens a good chunk of characters will already know each other and we can focus more on the characters that weren't in Super Star. After that we then get to Kirby 64 with new characters meeting up prepping for Melee's story, again another freaking sweet boss for everyone to fight. So then by the time of Brawl, everyone basically knows everyone else or at the very least knows someone who knows someone else. And we have final bosses to the Smash stories that are memorable, iconic, and epic.

Honestly I think it's Super Smash Brothers movie could work. All you're saying about a cinematic Universe is because you've been lost it ever since the MCU has gone downhill. And for Sonic and Pikachu's design. They are just 3D models and in the reason why they are in CGI is because Paramount and Warner Bros have put a lot of effect on them so that they can just make them look like they're in real life. And it could work as a movie if all of Nintendo characters get a animated movie that had a good plot to make the video game characters heroes just like the Super Mario Bros movie. I believe the illumination Mario movie was a really bad idea and it's all over that place as well as it's the same story about the Mario Bro origin but they just wanted to be fun but I didn't think it was funny it was just not interesting it was horrible awful film as well as it's the worst billion-dollar hit movie after The Lion King 2019.
