I love the amplifier repair vids! I just started doing repairs about 10 months ago and these videos are helping me soooo much. I had the transistor replacement side of things down ok but I needed some knowledge dropped on me about the driver boards and how the control things. This is helping me out tremendously! I also buy a good used amplifier to match the one im gonna fix. Then when im done i sell both. Please keep making these videos! Thank you so much again! The hifonics brutus 2400 and 2500's that have the same board as the soundqubed 2200's is the main ones im learning on because there so cheap when blown and sell fairly well when fixed. There also plentiful and that board is in all kinds of amps!

hi my name is call Bryant, I enjoyed seeing you work on the amp and making repairs being very thorough I like the fact that you check all the different systems and make sure they're all working properly and doing their job which makes you a excellent technician, be caused in my past I've had friend I thinking they took shortcuts and it always turn out something would be wrong with it and I would have to bring it back.

the cool thing about your videos is this can all go with also just Power inverters, that take like 12 to 48 volts depending on set up and convert it to 120 to 240 volts. and a lot of the components are the same, Its also the same with matching the mosfets because if they are not match they will blow pretty darn fast.

Just started to watch your video's which are cool. Little bit of advice if not already provided. Rather than cooking the board when fitting the zener or cap etc it would be much easier to use a soldering iron with a small 1mm tip, hold the component in place then solder each end in place with no burnt fingers or lost components. The hot air gun is the ideal tool for removing or replacing ic's etc but not necessarily for single components.

Your teaching an old man new tricks. Back in the 80's I repaired a few class AB amps (Rockford's, PPI to name a few). These class D amps are a whole different animal, to me very complex. Have you ever worked on a MTX Thunder 7801? And if so what is your opinion of this amp?
@octavmandru92196 жыл бұрын
Good content, subscribed. Very useful for Invertors, which is basically a class D also. I would comment a bit on your soldering technique, but ... as long as it works for you - it's fine. One question, what are the two thick wires going from supply to amp section for?
@barevids6 жыл бұрын
Audio output. It takes it from inductor output to speaker terminal on the case

Like the Video well explaine. But where do you order your FETS?
@HellTriX7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I like these. It's odd they still use those 4 channel mos driver protection boards. Wouldn't it be more hardy to do a single H/L mosfet driver with the same protections and just run all 8/10 power supply mosfets from that? A single purpose built driver would have no trouble driving 10 power fets through their gate resistors at that khz range.

Do you ever repaired a class D amplifier with scratched off IC marks? This would be interesting!
@barevids7 жыл бұрын
yes, all the time! Most boards are so generic, if youve worked on enough of them you know which ICs they are anyway. However, for an amp that is not generic and brand specific, like a soundigital which came into the workshop recently, there are no other amps with this same board and so if the ICs are scratched off, its almost impossible to repair as there will be many similar IC models that appear to "work" in theory in circuit, but only one model will actually behave as intended. And without knowing what that is, you have no chance. Sadly Soundigital only release this information to certified SD repair centers.

are those driver boards switchable between amps ?
@barevids7 жыл бұрын
Yes as long as the driver boards are identical. Many amps will use the same or similar boards and opt for a standardised driver board.

mosfets don't work off current @42:40
@barevids7 жыл бұрын
Residual current from static or inductance from another nearby part of the board can build up on the gate leg if there is not a pull down resistor. Electrons grouping on a conductive surface and stored as electrical potential energy are generally referred to as "current" - eg. "for an electrical circuit to operate *current* needs to flow"
